Louisiana Governor Seeks to Block the Appointment of the State’s First Black Supreme Court Justice

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is working overtime to stop the appointment of the first black Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court.  A federal judge ruled that Bernette Johnson is to succeed the state’s white chief justice, who is set to retire next year.  Jindal has been fighting the judge’s decision since it was made, and the battle underscores the dark, ugly racial history of the state of Louisiana.

The constitution of the state of Louisiana says that the Chief Justice should be the person who has served the longest term as Associate Justice.  That person would be Johnson, who joined the court in 1994.  Oddly, Jindal is fighting to make Jeffrey Victory the next Chief Justice, even though he began his term in 1995.

This White wannabe Governor should be reminded that a lot of black people died for his father to able to immigrate to this country. Are we suprised when the former Virginia Senator Allen referred to people like Jindal as MAKAKA?. I rest my case and you decide for yourself.

Jindal’s idea of helping black students in school was to lower the standards. There are a lot of South Asians (Indians) in this country who think that they are 1. White and 2. better than blacks. A lot of them have a superior/racist attitude. So the fact that Jindal is that way is no surprise. After all they have their own color caste system going in India. I don’t care what country he was born in, his attitude reflects that mentality.

Bobby Jindal is a political neo-con ideologue, a RACIST and anti-women pandering to the far right crowd. To deny an appointment that calls for seniority as the State’s Chief Supreme Court Justice based upon s*x and gender is despicable and disrespectful to the female judge who is Black. Shame on you governor, you have disrespected the citizens of Louisiana for fighting an appointment mandated by state law. You set no example especially to the young ones.

    Shameful.

Now if this Black woman is being appointed to this post, we KNOW she earned it; after all we ALWAYS have to work 10 times harder for EVERYTHING!

As far as Bobby Jindal concerned, he so busy trying to block this Black woman who’s just as accomplished as he is, if not more, (or she’d never have been considered for the post) when he should be watching his own back. Republican or not, racist White folks would have his dumb azz on the first boat back to India, regardless of the fact he was born in Louisiana. (SMH)

@Max-A-Million I’m sure if Bobby Jindal read your post he will get the message.
