Michael Clarke Duncan Had Taken On a Healthy Lifestyle Right Before He Died

Actor Michael Clarke Duncan, most famous for his role in The Green Mile, has died.

Duncan’s fiancée,  Omarosa Manigault, said Duncan died on Monday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was being treated following his heart attack. The hulky actor was said to have had a heart attack in July. According to a statement released by Duncan’s publicist, Duncan “suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13 and never fully recovered.”

“Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time. Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date.”

Duncan had become a vegetarian, even going so far as to lend his celebrity to the animal rights organization PETA.

“I cleared out my refrigerator, about $5,000 worth of meat,” Duncan said, after going vegetarian. “I’m a lot healthier than I was when I was eating meat.”

Duncan’s performance in The Green Mile, based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel,  earned him an Oscar nomination, and opened doors to even more acting roles. In addition to The Green Mile, Duncan’s roles have included ”Armageddon”, ”Breakfast of Champions,” “The Whole Nine Yards,” “Sin City,” and animated films such as ”Kung Fu Panda,” “Delgo,” and “Brother Bear.”
