The cause of death of the late Michael Clarke Duncan has finally been released. The actor, according to his death certificate, died of respiratory failure. The events transpired just a few weeks after he suffered a massive cardiac arrest.
One of Michael’s causes of death is listed as anoxic encephalopathy, which is a lack of oxygen to the brain. His organs were seriously damaged during the original heart attack, where he went five minutes without oxygen. He was brought back to life by his fiancé, Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth.
Other listed causes of death for Duncan were ventricular fibrillation and acute myocardial infarction (heart attack). Duncan needed a tracheotomy in order to breathe after his heart attack. He eventually died on September 3rd at the age of 54.
Kimberly Elise, Tom Hanks and other celebrities showed up for Duncan’s funeral. During the service, “The Green Mile” was shown to the audience. In the hit film, Duncan plays opposite Tom Hanks. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his role.
