The US government loves keeping track of you. The most interesting thing about it is that they won’t even tell you exactly how they’re doing it for another 50 years.
The FBI just pushed out a $1 billion Next Generation Identification (NGI) system, which is a national database of mug shots, iris scans and DNA samples that they are going to use to find their man or woman. The database also includes palm prints, voice recordings and anything else they need in order to find out who you are.
The program is going to be deployed in 2014 and include facial recognition software that includes 12 million facial pics of American citizens. Some privacy groups are already expressing concerns, including the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
