News Poll Finds Three in Four Americans are Not Socially Connected to Mitt Romney

By: Victor Trammell

According to a news poll conducted by Esquire/Yahoo, about 75 percent of Americans feel they have nothing in common with Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. However, Obama, the incumbent did not fare too much better in the same poll. About 60 percent of pollsters showed they feel the same way about the Democratic presidential nominee.

Mitt Romney does not seem to be distancing himself from recent remarks he made earlier this year at a fundraiser donor event that was videotaped and posted online by Mother Jones Magazine. These new numbers are bad news for a Romeny who is struggling to connect with ordinary Americans. The margin of error for the survey, conducted shortly after the Republican and Democratic national political conventions, is plus or minus 4 percentage points.
