Texas Soldier Killed by Friend Waving Gun to Scare Away Hiccups

A Texas soldier is facing manslaughter charges after he allegedly shot and killed his friend. The shooting happened when he reportedly started waving a gun at his friend to try and scare his friend’s hiccups away.

On Sunday, Pfc. Isaace Lawrence Young died from the gun shot while the two men, along with a third friend, were watching football and drinking. Killeen, Texas police report that 22 year old Young was shot by his friend and fellow soldier Pfc. Patrick Edward Myers.

The Killeen police say that Myers told them that when he waved the gun at his friend, in an effort to scare his hiccups away, he was under the impression that the gun had dummy bullets.

According to the Bell County prosecutor’s office, when the gun fired, it is reported to have hit Young in the face.
