By the early 1990s, Tupac Shakur’s career became a three-pronged machine that included recording successful rap albums, acting in motion pictures, and modeling clothes for popular urban clothing designer Karl Kani. His rise to fame came with legal problems that started with an incident involving the Oakland, California Police Department. Two officers approached him at an intersection and cited him for jaywalking. An argument ensued that resulted in the brutal beating of the young rap artist. Tupac was choked, struck with nightsticks, and had his head bashed into the street.
