Caught: Billy Graham’s Website Admits Scrubbing Mormonism From Cult List After Romney Endorsement

There has been a good deal of angst among white evangelicals about whether to support Mitt Romney given his Mormon faith.

According to Reuters/Ipsos polling data, 35 percent of voters said they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who is Mormon.

Even though the church has now renounced the practice, it is widely known for polygamy. And until the 1970′s, the church was openly racist against blacks. This, along with Mormon doctrine which seems to suggest that humans become Gods after death, and  that God was once human, have caused many Christians to regard Mormonism as a cult instead of a religion.

However, conservatives seem to have made peace with Mitt Romney, which means that they’re now forced to accept Mormonism as a real religion.

So when Billy Graham met with Mitt Romney and gave him his endorsement, Graham’s website was forced to remove Mormonism from its cult list.  The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association confirmed on Tuesday that it had removed all references to Mormonism as a “cult” from its website.

“A cult is any group which teaches doctrines or beliefs that deviate from the biblical message of the Christian faith,” the website said prior to last week. “It is very important that we recognize cults and avoid any involvement with them. Cults often teach some Christian truth mixed with error, which may be difficult to detect.”

So, apparently, whether or not a group should be deemed a cult rests on whether or a high profile Christian leader supports one of its members. There doesn’t seem to be any real standard at work here on how to define a cult. It seems that Graham and other evangelicals are allowed to remake definitions at will.

SO thats all it takes huh? If you happen to like someone who is a mormon, or you decide you wanna vote for them, that’s grounds enough for them to come off the cult list?

Man, God isnt as consistent as he used to be.. lol

Honestly, stuff like this sends home the obvious message that religion is a big-time FRAUD.

Anytime it can shift to accomodate politics, it isnt worth the website it is posted on.

Etch-A-Sketch Christianity. A cult is anything that your particular brand of Christianity disagrees with.
Many times the judgement and branding is not according to God’s Word. You shall know them by their fruits. The body of Christ,The Church, has no need of endorsing a political candidate. Perhaps Billy Graham is afraid that Mitt might get in office and remove his organizations tax exempt status.

I wonder how many women Mitt Romney has ever slept with at one time. Also, how many were under age?Maybe this is why he’s ProLife; he wants his name to live on by any means necessary. Please Mitt, no more Mittens.
