Chicago Marks 436th Homicide, Surpassing Last Year’s Total

The city of Chicago has been plagued by violence, and on Thursday, when a man was shot to death, the city surpassed last year’s total of 435 homicides.

CBS Chicago reports:

The victim was one of two people wounded in separate shootings that occurred just four blocks and half an hour apart Monday morning in the South Chicago neighborhood.

The first shooting occurred at 9:51 a.m. in the 8000 block of South Manistee Avenue, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

President Obama recently mentioned the gun violence in Chicago, but no one on the federal, state, or city level has an effective plan to end gun violence in the city.  The only idea mayor Rahm Emanuel seems to have is telling Chicago residents that they’re not snitches for turning in violent criminals.

I’d like to remind everybody that it also requires a community to step up. You’re not a snitch, you have a role in community policing.”

Yeah. Great. But what is the mayor going to do to stop crime in the city? The answer is pass the buck back to the community and hope it all just goes away.

Neither gun violence or gun control has been a serious topic of discussion during the presidential campaign, although it was briefly broached at one of the presidential debates. The ongoing slaughter in Chicago isn’t of much interest to the broader electorate or the two main political candidates.

It does take the community to get results. If you keep begging for the governemnt then you will complain that they are too rough or violating peoplese rights. The people need to be called out and the prisons should release all non violent drug users and focus on the real criminals and provide protectionm to witnesses. Also law abiding citizens need to be allowed to arm themselves.
