Judge Debra S. Nelson ruled on Friday that defense attorneys for George Zimmerman can grant access to Trayvon Martin’s social media and school records. Judge Nelson said that Zimmerman’s attorneys need to know whether Martin’s school records and social media postings give any evidence that he had violent tendencies. Nelson ruled that the defense can subpoena the Twitter and Facebook accounts of Martin under case law because Zimmerman is making a self-defense claim, so any evidence that supports possible aggressive tendencies by Martin is valid. ”I’m glad to have some of the discovery issues resolved. Now we can move forward,” defense attorney Mark O’Mara said afterwards.
Attorney Benjamin Crump, who is representing Martin’s parents, said they didn’t think his social media activity before the shooting was valid, but they don’t have any fear of it being revealed. ”Trayvon Martin died because George Zimmerman profiled him as a criminal-minded young punk under the guise of protecting his neighborhood,” Crump said in a statement to The Associated Press. “Now Trayvon Martin is being profiled again as a MMA-loving, violent thug under the guise of pursuing justice. This has to stop. Profiling, like racism and sexism, has no place in the criminal justice system.” O’Mara said he has heard “anecdotal evidence” that the 17-year-old Martin had been involved in mixed martial arts fighting.
The judge ordered Crump to turn over a recording of a phone interview he conducted with Martin’s girlfriend, who was talking with him in the moments before his altercation with Zimmerman.
Twenty-nine-year-old Zimmerman fatally shot the 17-year-old Martin in February. Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, saying he shot Martin in self-defense. He was present Friday, his first appearance in public since his July bond hearing. He and his wife, Shellie, remain in hiding somewhere in Seminole County because of safety concerns.
The judge said she would review Zimmerman’s medical records to see if they should be turned over to prosecutors. She will also take up an emergency motion filed Thursday by defense attorney Mark O’Mara that asks the court to grant depositions of several Sanford police officers, including former Chief Bill Lee. O’Mara said in the filing that he learned during a recent deposition of police Sgt. Joseph Santiago that investigators held several meetings in the weeks after the shooting and reached a consensus that Zimmerman should not be charged with a crime.
“If all those witnesses had a similar opinion, I’m very concerned of what the basis for the prosecution is,” O’Mara said. “We certainly now have a lot more to look into. I didn’t know we’d be going down this path. Now it’s been opened up to us, we’re going to investigate it to wherever it leads us.”
Nelson set another hearing for Oct. 26. The judge has scheduled Zimmerman’s trial for next June. A hearing on Zimmerman’s self-defense claim has not been scheduled, though O’Mara said this week that it could be in April or May.

How larege and how well did zimmerman know sanford florida, why unless he was demented or stone would he not remeber the street name if he was so scared why diid he park his car and start walking at all. If trayvon was such a bad thug then why is he the one dead trayvon never saw zimmerman gun that why he the one dead. a nose verse a death a gun verse a fight a man verse a boy trayvon was always on foot.

On this day 10/21/2012, I predict if Zimmmerman gets off on stand your ground law,he will be back in the news.He will not be able to get out of the new charge.He will be just like the young man in Aruba who killed the Holiday girl and turned around and killed another girl.Zimmerman is a walking time bomb and hates blacks,and minority.

Why hasn’t the STATE asked for GZ social media information? And what the JUdge ss going to find out is that GZ medical records is going to dictate that he’s on meds that alter his mental status…basically he has mental illness. that’s why he doesn’t wnat his medical records released to the STATE.
And also the defense is WORRIED about Witness number 8, the person that was on the PHONE WITH TM when GZ acosted TM with anger and what she heard which will PROVE that GZ LIEd about how TM migically appeared before him and attacked him, Winess 8 is KEY to TM defense.
GZ is a menace to our society and have proven so before from GZ PD records of domestic violence.

Zimmerman is half-white, half-hispanic and no relation to the Black community.
As far as the confrontation, it was initiated by Zimmerman and had he stayed in the car with his prejudice and his weapon as suggested by the 9-1-1 dispatcher, there would have been no incident, let alone a murder.

If Zimmerman did what the PD dispatcher told him of which he agreed(and then disconnected his phone
which is suspect who disconnect a call with the PD when such a connection is so important?) then he wouldn’t be charged with 2nd degree murder.
Since when does anyone have to answer to anyone of whom have not identified who you are asking the QUESTION? TM didn’t have to answer to GZ at all, who is he to ACOST anyone who is NOt doing anything WRONG, and in fact TM wasn’t doing anything WRONG what-so-ever –was HE, GZ acted jsut like the KLAN who would commit TERRORISM upon AFRICAN AMERICAN..basically make up stories to lynch any african american as a SPORT, what GZ is nothing short of that, nothing.

Furthmore, he was told by the 911 PD dispatcher that he SHOULD not follow to simply avoid provcation and to MEET the PD at the recreation house and GZ agreed and did the OPPOSITE and as result a 17 year old KID was murdered. So if GZ did what the PD dispatcher told HIM, he would not be charged with 2nd gegree murder.

I see the path it is going down. I have said it before. They are going to let him get away with murder. He is not a person of color. He had the police covering for him. He will not go to jail. If you look at this case, if zimmerman had been black he would not have been out on bond hiding somewhere with his wife. He would be in jail with no hope of ever getting a fair trial. Instead they have desided that to demonize a dead child would be ok since he is black and everyone knows that black males are violent right? Riiiiigghhht. Racism alive and well and growing more open and accepted by the day.

It’s interesting how this dead black teenager is being made into a violent thug by the media. Of course stereotypes gallore are attach to him for being your everyday teenager. “He was caught with marijuana!” I know a lot of white teens doing far more dangerous drugs. “He was caught with some type of tool for stealing!” The fact is that he never committed any crime and having some type of tool doesn’t equate to the person ready to steal. Besides, I have heard numerous of stories of white teens stealing all the time. It’s just beyond my comprehension how things mention on Twitter or a Facebook account is being used as evidence to justify Zimmerman in murdering this kid for simply being black. Have people forgotten that this grown a*s man got out of his car against a 911 dispatcher’s request, followed this kid for some blocks, confronted this child in an aggressive manner, when the child defended himself against this total stranger he is shot to death. And now Trayvon is to blame for doing something that whites pride themselves on: self defense. I’m not surprise his skin color is clouding people’s judgement. There is no way in h**l a dead white teenager would be persecuted as a thug who deserved to die by the courts or media at large. Never. Just sad.
