Police confirm that shots were fired into President Obama’s Denver campaign office.
The Denver Post reports:
No one was injured, though people were inside the offices when the incident occurred, said Denver police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez.
“It looks like it was one shot that was fired into the structure,” she said.
The incident happened at about 3 p.m. at the campaign’s offices on West Ninth Avenue near Acoma Street, Lopez said.
A reporter for the Denver Westword tweeted a photo showing the shot out front window of the Obama campaign field office. The glass company has now begun the task of putting up plywood in the window and cleaning away the broken glass.
Police are reportedly in search of a “vehicle of interest” seen in the area around the time of the shooting.
Colorado is a swing state and Romney took the lead over Obama after the first presidential debate. The latest Denver Post poll shows Romney up by one point in the state.
Nineteen percent of voters in Colorado say they are less likely to vote for the President because of the debate, and a whopping twenty-six percent say they are more likely to vote for Mitt Romney.
The Obama campaign has not commented on the shooting.

Shooting of Obama’s Campaign Office,
(America’s Climate of Hate)
By Torrence Brannon-Reese
October 13, 2012
As we ponder the recent (October 12, 2012) shooting of President Obama’s campaign office in Denver, Colorado, I think it necessary to look at the root cause of this potential tragedy. The fact of the matter is that an atmosphere of hatred (mostly inspired by warped, racial attitudes) against President Obama has been effectively crafted and cultivated since he stepped into office four years ago; and much of it comes straight out of the mouths of elected officials like Newt Gingrich, Harry Ried, and Mitt Romney to name a few. Other angry, rich white men such as Rush Limbaugh and Donald Trump, enjoy almost total media access and have mastered the art of keeping the base fired up and filled with Hatred for Obama.
The white reaction to Obama’s Presidency reminds me of the period of the Great White Hope, when Jack Johnson became the first Black man to win the Heavyweight boxing title in 1908; Unlike old Jack, lets thank God Obama married a Black woman!
Statistics support the fact that there have been more death threats on this President’s life than all (43) previous Presidents combined. Sure, I know most people will say, no, I just don’t like his policies, well, I will not get into that, space is too limited. It is true that America has refused to seriously deal with the question of race. As I navigate online sites where people are afforded the opportunity to blog, it is astounding that on almost any subject involving race, Obama’s name comes up, and very often, people express their feelings through the prism of racial and ethnic prejudice. Stated plainly, in 2012, there are still millions of white people who really hate Black people, and I suspect that Barack Obama is a convenient, focused target. Were people to be totally honest, they’d admit the fact that a Black American sitting in the oval office is a reality they are simply not comfortable with.
As a product of the Deep South (New Orleans, Louisiana, 1960’s) I grew up around white’s who were basically nice people, (especially when Blacks entertained them) yet, they simply saw themselves as superior; particularly in normal situations, (normal meaning situations they controlled). Yet, I observed, that whenever whites found themselves forced to deal with Blacks whom they could not control, (Politically astute, or defiant) for example, like, Muhammad Ali, Jim Brown, the Black Panthers, Adam Clayton Powell Jr., Martin Luther King, or Malcolm X, then they would just about lose their minds! The hate-filled whites do not take kindly to intelligent, culturally specific, pro-active Black people, especially if they spoke out against American racism; which Obama rarely does?
Truth be told, America’s violent racial past has really never been put to rest, in fact, in a recent Rolling Stones interview (September, 2012) legendary folk icon Bob Dylan suggested, Quote, America was “founded on the back of slaves,” Mr. Dylan said, “If slavery had been given up in a more peaceful way, America would be far ahead today.” Mr. Dylan sounding a realistic tone, which is in line with his musical legacy, and he was not optimistic about race relations in America, stating, “people are at each other’s throats just because they are of a different color,” adding that “it will hold any nation back.” Blacks know that some whites “ didn’t want to give up slavery,” he said.
In closing, and not surprisingly, Dylan was attacked like never before for his opinion; yet, in my view, he has a valid point, which is most uncomfortable with many whites who still suffer from a superiority complex, and a serious case of historical amnesia. Suffice it to say that there are enough sober minded people of all colors to counteract this madness, and together, we will vote Obama another four years. And it is my sincere hope that those of us who are fair minded and racially sober, must pray that lives are not lost in all of this; GOD help us.

Torrence I concur with every thought you shared. What has been most difficult for me are the Black people who actively argue against President Obama, as if they do not see or hear what is going on……that is most distressing for me…..I expect people to discriminate and foster predijudice, but self-hatred makes me more than sad and angry. I respect everyone’s right to support which ever candidate of their choice but to act as if the President has somehow ushered in an era of politics that is vastly different or harmful to our country is just dishonest at best. 4 more years, I wish I could give him 16 to undo the harm of the Bush years and the deregulation and criminal laws and welfare reform of the Clinton years.

The idiots who proclaimed racism ended with Obama’s election should all be made to wear scarlet dunce hats so they may be easily identified and kept from attempting further acts of idiocy.

LET US PRAY: Father, we are often distrubed by the suffering and injustice that we see all about us. Sometimes it seems overwhelming. Keep us from comfortabably accepting our world as is . Give us the strength and wisdom to do whatever we can whereever we are to bring about the justice and righteousness that Amos spoke about. Through the Prince of peace we pray.
