Yuck: Controversial Jewish Practice of Oral Circumcision is Under Fire

We’re not quite sure how to interpret this, but the New York City Jewish establishment is under fire for allowing circumcisers of babies to draw the blood away from the baby’s p*enis with their mouths.  Now, health officials are making the priests obtain parental consent forms before they are allowed to do so.

The resolution received unanimous support from the New York City Board of Health.  The board stated that there is a risk of babies catching herpes through the ritual, which goes back thousands of years.   The decision has upset some members of the Orthodox Jewish community, who say that it is a violation of religious freedom.
