Another Arkansas Lawmaker Defends Slavery

Recently, a Arkansas state representative Jon Hubbard went out of his way to defend the institution of slavery.  He seemed to feel that black people should be grateful to those who took their ancestors from their families so they could eventually have a better life.  He also said that white kids have been harmed by integration, since he says that the performance level of white kids has dropped to match that of black children.

It appears that this isn’t the most ignorant racial remark made by an Arkansas legislator when it comes to slavery.  In a letter to the editor with the Arkansas Times, Loy Mauch, another lawmaker out of Arkansas, said that slavery wasn’t so bad and that we’re making too much of it all:
