Chicago Mayor Speaks Candidly about Missing Black Jobs: Is He Blaming Labor Unions?

Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel was especially candid this week on an interview at WVON, a radio station on the Southside of Chicago.   Emanuel was asked about the story being told by Ed Gardner, the 87-year old founder of Soft Sheen products.  Gardner was driving past a construction site where crews were repairing a sidewalk next to a strip mall.  Gardner noticed that there were no African Americans in the crew, so he organized a protest.  The action drew together 1,000 people, and got some wondering why more African Americans aren’t being included in these job opportunities.
