Pennsylvania Bill To Reduce Welfare Benefits For New Moms Except Rape Victims

There is a new House bill being proposed in Pennsylvania that is directed at women who have children while they are on welfare. If it goes into effect, the House Bill will reduce the amount of TANF assistance that women can get if they fall pregnant while they are on the program.

The House Bill seems to contradict it’s purpose. Women who have low-income would naturally need more assistance if they had more children but the Bill is only making exceptions for women who have babies because they were raped.
