Report: Jesse Jackson Jr. Resigning From Congress Today

Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. is resigning from Congress today, according to CBS News.

Jackson has reportedly notified his staff and supporters of his departure, and sent a letter of resignation to Speaker John Boehner.

CBS News reports:

The decision came following two weeks of mounting calls for him to come clean with voters, following revelations that former U.S. Attorney Dan Webb was involved in plea bargaining with authorities who’d been investigating Jackson’s alleged misuse of campaign funds.

If the reports are true, one has to wonder why Jackson didn’t resign before he was reelected on November 6th. Jackson even went so far as to issue a robocall to constituents, thanking them for their patience, only to resign less than a month later.

Previous news reports have speculated that Jackson’s resignation was imminent since Jackson is in the middle of a plea deal with the Feds for misuse of campaign funds, which will result in jail time.

Jackson has been absent from Capitol Hill since mid-June, when he left his job to seek help for bipolar disorder. Those who have spoken with him recently say he is in no position to return to work. He was briefly at his home in Washington D.C. but didn’t stay long, choosing instead to return to the Mayo Clinic.

Jackson is accused of spending $40,000 on a Rolex watch for a female friend and using campaign funds to redecorate his Chicago home. His wife has also been implicated in the scandal as well.

My only angst about the Jackson resignation is that Jesse Jackson Jr. should have realized that he as a Black man, and a name with a following;which implies that he should be walking on eggs shells in matters such as the reason he is resigning. There are shark -like investigators whose sole responsibility is to silence Black voices, and are always on the proul seeking Black names to devour. The reason Mr. Jackson is resinging is what a typical run-of-the-mill White Congressman would do, and the investigators would look the other way. Tell me about insidious double standard in Congress.

Blah, blah, blah, White man is the reason for another black man’s failure, blah, blah, blah blah.

What ever happened to right vs. wrong? Brother got caught with his had in the wrong cookie jar. Can’t you just accept he did wrong and is being held accountable? No you can’t. You have to throw the race card because personal accountability just doesn’t work for ya.

All the politicians in Chicago, black and white, past and present, are crooked. The State of Illinois should, at a minimum, censure them all and expel the blatant offenders. The voters in Illinois put these people in their positions. Wise up and vote the offenders out.

We all know that the office of Patrick Fitgerald isn’t known for fruitless allegations! His office has a reputation for getting those who have taken advantage of taxpayers-he’s a keep them honest-attorney. Although he has since moved on to another level of his career, clearly this investigation began under his administration. I don’t care about color-character alwaysdominates. Jesse Jr. has zero integrity and is an arrogant piece of work! Hopefully, he’ll share a cell with the brothers from the streets of Chicago who were railroaded that he didn’t see fit to help! Hopefully, one from the “hood”

If Fitzgerald is really about “getting those who have taken advantage of taxpayers” and is “a keep them honest-attorney” why hasn’t he ever gone after former Mayor Daley?

Am sorry Rep. Jackson is resigning. He was the only one of the CBC to speak out publicly against the ethnic cleansing of Black Libyans and African immigrants in Libya. He’s asked for a congressional investigation over a year ago. Now we know for sure that will never happen.

The Butchering of Gaddafi Is America’s Crime

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

“Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton appeared like ghoulish despots at a Roman Coliseum, reveling in their Libyan gladiators’ butchery.”

Nearly eight months of incessant bombing by the air forces of nations that account for 70 percent of the world’s weapons spending, all culminating in the gang-bang slaughter of Moammar Gaddafi, his son Mutassim and his military chief of staff, outside Sirte. The NATO-armed bands then displayed the battered corpses for days in Misurata – the city that had earlier made good on its vow to “purge Black skin” through the massacre and dispersal of 30,000 darker residents of nearby Tawurgha – before disposing of the bodies in an unknown location.
