Rapper Rick Ross has cancelled his upcoming concerts in North Carolina. Live Nation has released a statement, letting fans know that they can get a refund on their tickets, starting Friday. Slated to perform were Ross along with MMG rappers Wale and Meek Mill.
Ross has not commented on why the show was cancelled but it is alleged that he has been receiving death threats. Those threats are coming from a street gang known as the Gangster Disciples. These threats are stemming from the gang’s disapproval of the rapper’s use of their signature six-point star on his recent Black Bar Mitzvah mixtape. Ross also mentions the gang’s leader, Larry Hoover, who is currently locked away, in his song B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast).
The gang recently released a video, on You Tube, warning him to stay out of the Charlotte area. Even though officials in Charlotte assured fans that their presence would be felt, to keep them safe, it was in the best interest of everyone involved to cancel the concert, according to hip hop journalist, Paul Scott. Ross was nominated Wednesday for a Grammy Award, for his album God Forgives, I Don’t.
