Rapper, T.I. sat down with MTV’s “RapFixLive” and shared his thoughts about the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy, that has rocked a nation to it’s core. “You cannot be a human being with a heart that pumps blood and not feel somethin’ about that.” There is no need to describe the horrific details of that fateful day. What rang true for all around the country, whether you have children or not, is that children should be protected, cherished, and loved. It is no different for T.I., who is a devoted father to his children with songstress and wife, Tameka “ Tiny” Cottle. The two have a hit reality show on VH-1 called T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle.
T.I. tells RapFixLive, “I just feel like children are off-limits because they perfect, they ain’t done nothin’, they ain’t did nothin’ and to cut the lives off of so many young future— [they] could’ve been future anything.” “Their opportunity was cut short, behind just some cowardness. I think that needs to be addressed in a major way.”
A lot of people thought that the Sandy Hook shooter did not fit the ideal profile of a killer. T.I. reminds us all that looks can be deceiving saying, “I just really believe you can’t judge a book by its cover and right now you may have a stereotype in your mind of what danger looks like. But to be honest with you, in recent history, the look of danger has changed.”
All in all, this tragedy has refueled the issue of gun control, in this country. But sides are mixed. Some say that we need to continue to have the right to bare arms, to protect our communities from harmful predators like Adam Lanza. Others believe that the right should be revoked, to prevent guns from getting into the wrong hands. But, does it go deeper than gun control?
What do you think?
