Three teens have been charged with the killing of a Pennsylvania woman after she told them to ‘get a job’ when she encountered them
trying to b*m a cigarette off her boyfriend.
Police have charged 14-year-olds Todavia Cleckley and Marcus Velasquez and Kyle Goosby Jr., 13, with criminal homicide in Saturday’s shooting of Kayla Peterson, 22. The woman was gunned down at around 3:30 PM and died later that evening.
The attorney for Goosby says that his client was “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Beaver Falls Police Chief Charles Jones says officers are still searching for the other two suspects.
The question now becomes what were the teens doing hanging out and begging for cigarettes in the early afternoon? Where were their parents? And since when does a note of disrespect culminate in murder, especially for teens who are barely high school age?
What is so troublesome about this is not just the murder itself, but how quickly and easily some young people turn to violence as a way of resolving disputes or taking revenge over perceived disrespect. They can’t see how that snap decision will affect them or the person that they’re hurting. This is part of what makes it all the more tragic.
