Police in Kansas City say that they responded to a 911 call on the night that Chiefs player Jovan Belcher shot his girlfriend. Officers say that when they arrived on the scene, they found Belcher sleeping in his car at approximately 2:50 am. The call was made because someone reached out to report a suspicious car parked on the street.
KCPD spokesman Darin Snapp told USA TODAY Sports that Belcher was sleeping in his Bentley at the time and was cooperative when officers asked him to get out of the car. He said that he was waiting for his girlfriend, who lived in the building. The officers told him to call his girlfriend, and a woman answered the door, letting him in.
The New York Post is reporting that the woman’s name was Brittni Glass, and she said she was with the player that night. Officers also said that Belcher appeared to be intoxicated.
“They said they could tell he’d been drinking, but he wasn’t stumbling or slurring his words,” Snapp said.
Later that night, Belcher shot his girlfriend Kassandra Perkins and then himself.

The act of suicide is a form of confession. We all know there is more to this story and I suspect his mother and Ms. Glass might have some valuable insight to add to his mindset before his destructive actions. My suspicions are that it might be a crime of passion. Seems like he was wrestling with some things he could not come to terms with in his mind. Betrayal, disappointment, etc. Who knows?
