Brooklyn Nets Fire Head Coach Avery Johnson

Jay-Z’s team no longer has it’s old coach.  The Brooklyn Nets just let go of Avery Johnson after a disappointing start to the season.   The new coach, at least for the time-being, is going to be PJ Carlesimo, who is currently serving as the team’s assistant.  The team is going to interview several candidates over the next few days to see who will become their full-time coach.

The Nets are not a bad team, but not a good one.  They are 14-14, which is a disappointment considering their massive investments in the off-season.   During the month of December, the team has lost 10 out of 13 games and are six and a half games behind the New York Knicks in the Atlantic Division.   Johnson’s record as Nets coach has been an abysmal 60 -116.

The team has spent a ton of money to make the team into a contender.  They paid $98.8 million over five years to re-sign guard Deron Williams and also brought in Joe Johnson, who had $90 million left on his contract.

The Nets played better at the beginning of the season than they actually are. The hype of the new home and the “Little General”, played a large part of the early success. Avery has had bad luck in the NBA, first the Mavs gave him a bad deal now the lowly Nets. At the end of the season look for the Nets to be 14-18 games below .500 and the fans in Brooklyn will be ready to burn the place down. Good luck Avery, become a commentator and have a job for many years to come and let the “masters” play their racist game…
