While 2,000 people are said to be working in the Brooklyn Nets’ Barclays Center, Avery Johnson will no longer be one of those people. After winning Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for the months of October and November , the team seemed to lose its steam and won only three of their last 13 games despite having a strong 11-4 start.
“We weren’t playing well,” Nets GM Billy King said of the decision to fire Johnson. “That’s the bottom line. We just weren’t playing good basketball and we seemed to be regressing. We’re in the business of accountability. Players do have to play, but when they’re not, others will be held accountable, too. That’s just the way it is, unfortunately.”
Believe it or not, Johnson has a great track record with the Dallas Mavericks prior to joining the Nets.

Let’s call it what it is, RACE!!! Black coaches have to win immediately and consistantly. Avery got the Dallas Mavericks to the championship series and was fired two years later after winning the coach of the year award while leading his team to the best record in the NBA. A 14-14 start after starting out 11-4 and achieving the coach of the month awards for October and November. Everyone knows that teams are up and down throughout the course of the year. It is more than just coincidence that the two coaches who were fired this year were Black and there will be a few more. I predicted that they would fire
Avery, I did not know it would be this soon. Ty Corbin, Keith Smart,and Alvin Gentry will be next.
Lawrence Frank can lose gsmes at a record pacing rate with the nets and be allowed to coach the Pistons almost at the same losing pace.
Billy King made some horrendous deals in Philadelphia and made some questionable acquisitions in Brooklyn. Should he not be fired? The more things change , the more they stay the same!! Good luck with Coach Carlesimo. Isn’t that the guy Latrell Sprewell choked.

What is Effie Smith talking about? With regard to the Nets situation, it is obvious there are problems in the locker room!! Deron Williams is a spoiled player who feels he should be the lighting rod for the team. Quietly, Joe Johnson, an All Star, probably feels the same. Joe Johnson’s production has been greatly diminished since he came to the Nets with Deron
williams at point guard.
Too often the coach gets the blame for the spoiled players lack of performance on the floor and in the locker room. What did Billy King do to support Avery Johnson? Did he just take a player’s griping or was it just easier to placate a player who makes MORE money than the coach?
If I’m wrong, will someone let me know!!

Rob Parker should of been able to speak his mind. I aggree with Rob. Who do RGIII think he is? Does he think if the way had not been paved by others would he then have the job that he has. He is terrible.
