A fight broke out at a Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant in Matteson, Illinois which resulted in parents throwing chairs and getting pepper
sprayed and arrested.
CBS Chicago reports:
When police arrived about 8:30 p.m., they found several adults screaming obscenities and throwing chairs at each other in the dining room, while parents with young children fled from the restaurant, near U.S. 30 and Cicero Avenue, police said.
Police demanded that they stop, but several of the brawlers ignored police, so police pepper sprayed the unruly parents. Two men were still screaming at each other and had to be restrained by police.
Witnesses at the scene told police the brawl began when two girls began arguing, then the mothers of the two girls began arguing with each other, and that argument turned physical. Next thing you know, there was a full blown melee, with chairs flying through the air and people bleeding.
One man, Lester Whisby, 26, was charged with reckless conduct, disorderly conduct, battery and resisting arrest and was treated by paramedics at the scene. Joe Lynch, 27, was charged with battery, resisting arrest, reckless conduct and disorderly conduct.
Triesha Jackson, 21, Tevin Johnson, 18, Johnny Fleming, 18, Stephen Dyer, 31, and Leslie Whisby, 26, were all charged with reckless conduct and disorderly conduct.
The children surely didn’t go to Chuck E. Cheese’s thinking their parents would become engaged in fisticuffs and get arrested, but that’s what happened in this case. Police are still reviewing video footage to determine if any additional arrests will be made.
