In case you’ve never heard the phrase “ghetto polygamy,” consider this to be your formal introduction to the ratchedness that some have come to define as “black culture.” Oxygen has decided to give a platform to ignorance by creating a show featuring the rapper Shawty Lo, his 10 babies’ mamas and the 11 unfortunate children who have the pleasure of being born in the middle of a pile of irresponsible bullsh*t.
If you think I’m being harsh on Mr. Lo, the fact remains that I could never be as hard on this brother as he is being on his kids, many of whom are going to grow up wondering if their daddy actually loves them. I’ve spent my life raising children of fathers who are all too eager to spread their seed without accountability, and I found myself hurt to the core when witnessing the intense emotional damage that comes from having a father who doesn’t give a d*mn (my own biological father also abandoned me at birth, so yes, this is personal for me).

All of you people are projecting your own negativity on this brotha.
How is this a case of NOT taking care of his children? Isn’t this a show about him having ALL of his children and their mothers living with him?
This brotha could have been an inspiration and maybe a role model for all of the men out there who have many children with many women. They exist, their children exist and maybe instead of sweeping things under the rug in the name of false pride and BS morality, we can show these men the importance of being in these children’s lives.

It shows that some people think the African-American community will put up with such a degrading program as this showing a unhealthy lifestyle. This society leaves us enough to deal with fighting daily to improve our lifestyle.

Thank you! Thank you for these words that no one wants to hear or say, but needs to be said loudly and clearly!
