Keyshia Cole is bitter after being dissed by radio station, KMEL, in her home town. Cole believes she was bumped from a recent show to make room for newcomer, The Weeknd. The Weeknd is an Ethiopian-Canadian singer who has received rave reviews from noted publications that include, Pitchfork, MTV,BET, Rolling Stone, and XXL. The Source has dubbed him the “songbird of his generation”. The Weeknd recently appeared on the acclaimed and legendary, Jools Holland Show in London, alongside greats, Nona Hendryx and Soul II Soul. Others on the show were sensation, Lana Del Rey, and The Palma Violets. Who has the bigger following Cole or The Weekend, at this point? Hands down, it is The Weeknd.
The Oakland native, took to twitter to express her frustration. She said,“EVERY F**KING YEAR I do something major for my city! @KMEL has the nerve to tell me at the last minute they want me to open for the weeknd. No disrespect to the weeknd. Why the h**l would @106KMEL ask me to open for him in My home town! Where I give back! Where IM FROM! #NO”
