You Won’t Believe What Serena Williams’ Ankle Looked Like After Her Loss to Sloane Stephens

Serena Williams was upset  by Sloane Stephens at the Australian Open two days ago. While discussing her loss with reporters, Williams serena footsaid both her back and ankle were causing her pain during the match.

“I think the ankle started everything up the chain because I’m compensating and maybe it made my back hurt,” Williams said on Wednesday.

Everyone knew that Williams turned her right ankle in her opening match, but it seems very few people understood just how serious her injuries were, probably because Williams refused to make any excuses for her loss.

“Everyone at this stage in the locker room has something wrong with them. It’s no excuse,” Williams said. “I went for this drop shot and it just locked up on me. I couldn’t really rotate after that.”

Well,  now we all have proof that Serena Williams was not exaggerating  the extent of her ankle injury.  She really did struggle through her match with Stephens, and you can see that by the size of her ankle, which resembles a watermelon more than an ankle.

Williams was overheard on parabolic microphones telling a trainer that this has been the “worst two weeks.” She said after the match that her ankle was “like this big,” holding her hands a couple of feet apart. When Serena tweeted a picture of her ankle, we all got a sense of what she was really dealing with.

Hopefully Serena will recover soon and get back in action, but for now, she needs to work on staying off that ankle. We can’t even imagine the pain.

If Serena Williams were healthy she would have beat Sloane Stephens. Serena Williams is a champion – she has the trophies, titles, and longevity to prove it. This is one win for Sloane Stephens. Hopefully, she will continue to do well. But Stephens lost her next match to Azarenka. The point is: It shows how much emotional, mental, and physical integrity a tennis player must have to be a champion like Serena. When Stephens or any other up and coming player has accomplished as much as Serena then you can compare. But, until then, it was one win for Sloane.

I do not like Sloane Stephens- she’s a brat and the media is just setting her up for failure by making her think she beat Serena ‘fair and square’. Serena still has years of competition ahead of her. I don’t care how many slams she’s won- she is the real deal. No pretentious bs, and she doesn’t sound like some California Valley white girl. There- I said it.

Everyone knows that Serena is fanatical about winning. One thing she hates to do is lose and has already made her mark again and again. However, the life of an athlete is short. Her sister Venus has pretty much conceded to this reality and soon Serena will have to as well. However, I think the bigger story is that a 19 year old young black woman is seceding the Williams sisters and already has with an amazing ranking in women tennis. Sloane is a beautiful young woman who acknowledges looking upon Serena as a role model and shero, and ironically looks so much like Serena. Who better to be heir apparent to the super star Williams sisters than Sloane Stephens? God works in mysterious ways, Her wonders to behold.

Few people truly understand the extent of injury that most tennis players have day after day, match after match.

Any tennis players who shows wrapped ankles or any other body parts with braces is injured…period.

The demands of pro tennis are such that they practice, play, practice while they are injured.

Also, the game used to be played on grass. Grass courts were so much better on the body than today’s hard courts. And everybody knows that hard courts are being used everywhere because they are cheaper to maintain.
