Ben Jealous: Black Americans ‘Are Doing Far Worse’ Under Obama Admin.

Statistics show that the African-American community is in bad shape under the Obama Administration.  The Labor Department reports that the black unemployment rate was at 12.7 percent when Pres. Obama initially took office. As the employment rate for the nation dropped below 8 percent, black unemployment increased to 12.9 percent and then to 14 percent for December.

In a recent interview on MSNBC’s “Meet the Press,” NAACP CEO and president, Ben Jealous, told the show’s host that black Americans “are doing far worse” than when President Obama first took office. “The country’s back to pretty much where it was when this president started,” Jealous told show host David Gregory. “White people in this country are doing a bit better. Black people are doing far worse.”

The most staggering statistic is reported in September 2011, when black unemployment reached 16.7 percent — making it the highest unemployment rate for African-Americans since 1983. The black teens jobless rate was even more staggering at 39.3 percent in July 2012. The NAACP, the National Urban League, and the National Action Network met alongside other organizations for the second time on Friday to discuss a “black agenda” for the president, Politic365 reports. The coalition stated it will urge Pres. Obama to mention an urban jobs plan in his State of the Union speech on Feb. 12.

Commentators such as Yvette Carnell, Dr. Wilmer Leon and Dr. Boyce Watkins at Your Black World have consistently stated that the president’s performance in the black community should be judged based on the quality of his results, not the color of his skin.  Also, Dr. Julianne Malveaux recently wrote that the Obama Administration needs to speak out more about existing racial disparities and persistent problems in black unemployment.

Dr. Watkins says that he applauds Jealous for speaking up about this issue.

“I’m hopeful that Ben is serious in what he’s saying about the Obama Administration, since I’m sure he’s getting into trouble with Obama’s cabinet over his remarks,” says Dr. Watkins, who has a PhD in Finance.  “Anyone who knows the basics about economics knows that when you neglect an entire community for this long, the wounds are going to fester.  I have a hard time finding any concrete evidence whatsoever that the black community at-large has benefited from having a bi-racial president.   I hope Obama can one day give me a reason to be more optimistic.”

    Why don’t these black organizations pool their resources to create jobs in struggling black communities. All they have are meetings after meetings, and pay speakers to speak that no one can hear or understand what they say. Black unemployment rate has always been higher than whites. When the economy begins the sink, they’re usually the first ones to be laid off. It dates back to that period when blacks were the last hired first fired. The same thing happens today. It’s just no longer officially obvious. Blacks have been decrying this same old argument as far back as I can remember, and I was born in the segregated/Jim Crow south. Other groups, Jews, Asians who were highly discriminated against didn’t “wait for superman.” They went out carved out their own place in society and began to build upward from there. They made things happen. When Jews, especially, were denied access into establishments, even grocery stores, banks etc. They created their own banks, opened up their own grocery stores. Asians in California have Chinatown. Blacks are still walking around holding that leather bound book with the five lettered words on front, waiting for manna to fall from the sky. I have relatives who served in Iraq and they told me of a job service there where Mexicans from Mexico were being brought in to work in the war zone. Black leaders just need to stop walking around looking pretty in suits and be willing to roll up their sleeves, put on some worn/torn jeans and be willing to get dirty. Create a delegation to go into other countries, even some wealthy African countries, and lure jobs to your communities. To often, leaders in the black community sabotage their own. I’ve seen it in schools in the learning process. They’re quicker to suspend and even expel their youth over some of the most minor, even non-existing and silly reasons. The group starts to destruct from the inside at a very early stage. That destruction is more often than not internal. I don’t agree with every President Obama has stood for. However, black unemployment is more complicated than one person’s responsibility. I’ve come across quite a number of black men, some with jail and prison records, who have great talents that could be turned into profitable business. However, they lack the funding to get their business started. They are artist, cooks. musicians. All that’s needed is perhaps a micro loan and some publicity to get their business off the ground. If you have someone that can draw in your community, then open up an art studio. Let them paint and sell their paintings and also offer art classes. If you have someone in your community who plays a musical instrument. Then take one of those old empty buildings, do a paint up/fix-up through a micro-loan and allow them to teach others to play a musical instrument. If there’s someone who likes to cook, make biscuits…then use a micro loan and open up a biscuit/bread shop. This is what has been happening in other non-black communities. I’ve witnessed it firsthand. People opening up a candles shop, resale store/thrift store, bakery, pizza shop, art studio then others in the community and fellow store owners buy from one another. Black people just need to change how they think about their situation, and see the missed opportunities they let slide by. There’s far too much black wealth in America for there to be so much black poverty. Invest in yourselves. Invest in one another. And for GOD’S sake, stop having these senseless/non-producing meetings that result in only more senseless non-producing meetings.

    Keep venting and complaining with no resolutions in place and neither or we seeking resolutions it seems. OH! yea, blame President Obama who has no powers. Who would not and do not know this by now? I do. I notice some of you believe that President Obama is the person who thought of the immigration law for the prominently Hispanic Culture, right? Also, you really believe President Obama had control over promoting gay rights, right? Just as President Bush had no powers really, neither do President Obama.

    There has been resolutions that I have given to this on going problem that Black Communities, and Black People face, but has any Black Person with the financial means stepped up to the plate, so to speak? Even when there is one given, no one is listening it seems. Black People needs to stop venting and complaining and the Black People who has made it cross the bridge, so to speak needs to stop being followers, and be leaders. Stop blaming and execute what we do have and stop being selfish and ignorant.

    Why Black People who have the finances do not open up their own stores like Walmart’s and other huge corporations to hire Black People? Why? Why every time we get a couple of extra dollars we will sell expensive sneakers that we get from White owned companies, who gets their serves from over seas cheap, who sells their products to poor people. We purchased many mansions and barely live in them. Copy cats we are. We send plenty of money over seas to other Black Community when in fact, our own back yards needs cleaning. Copy cats again. We copy all the negatives that do our Black People as a whole no good, and many races and cultures adopt our positives.

    Honestly, what Black Person you know that has the means, the power, and the rights to be a racist, or discriminate, really? We allow other cultures and races to manipulate this in our small minds that we have these sorts of powers. Many cultures and races use this cheap psychology on Black People all the time, by which is called, “Reversal Discrimination.” There is no such thing as “Reversal discrimination” when you are Black. I know that there are some Black People would like to have or pretends to have such powers, but let me bust your bubble, you do not, OK. Stop trying to be something you are certainly not.

    When the Chinese, the Jewish People, the people from the Middle Eastern Countries and now the Hispanics hires people of their own culture and their race, you have never heard White People use this term with them, do you? The term, “Reversal Discrimination.” I wonder why? I believe it is because they all know exactly what to say, and they are not brainwashed as Black People. That is why.

    Black People is still depending on White society to make their life better. I know White People are laughing their azz’s off about Black People in that, they would probably say, “Look, we gave these Black People a way to earn some wealth, and look what they do with it. They buy many mansions, get their own chef’s, their own limousine driver’s, purchase six to eight cars, the with gold rims, they purchase fine jewelry, they purchase hundreds of expensive sneakers, they show off their wealth on television, they are trying to live like us. Not excluding, when they become wealthy, they are quick to marry outside their race without hesitation because the more they marry outside their culture and race, the more they feel as if they have made it across the bridge. No, not all Black People does this, but many especially Black Athletics do. There is nothing wrong with marrying who may fall in love with, but one should never forget or help the ones that are left behind. This is where the problem always comes in. We seemed to not be business minded people without someone White guiding us or taking on a leadership role within our businesses.

    In addition, how many Black own businesses (large corporations) like Walmart’s that are own and operated by a Black Person throughout the United States that hires majority of Black People? Any? I do not know about where you are, when a Walmart Store is build in a minority community, most of these jobs are contained by Hispanics that the White People have put into place, and now, they are controlling the Black People, speaking Spanish to all the Spanish People they hire with no regards for the Black People who are there. I know this is probably happening throughout the United States. Again, Black People who has the funds needs to start creating our own wealth, and stop passing the blame around to other Black/biracial people. What good is it during you or the Black Community besides venting? The definition of venting is an opening, as in a wall, serving as an outlet for air, smoke, fumes, or the like. 2. An opening at the earth’s surface from which volcanic material, as lava. You know when a volcano explodes? You know what happens when people get sick and tired of being oppress and suppress. When the venting is not the outlet any longer, when the volcano starts to explode, Black People starts to destroy their own communities, they are killing each other, they are on the streets selling drugs, they are being placed in institutions, and not one Black Person who has the means is during a damn thing about it. Why Black People who has the financial means are not helping? Again, the same old damn thing that happened during slavery and why we became slaves in the first place, lack of knowledge.

    Personally, I pray that one day my creator will give me the financial means to make a difference, and I will be able to show you Black People who has the financial means as to how it is done. Just as the White People, the Chinese People, the people from the Middle Eastern Countries, and the Jewish People does it, not to exclude, the Hispanic’s People. I will also. Why Black people do not get it. Please stop the complaining and venting and do something positive for once in our life. Please. Just as these cultures and races learned all the positive things from Black People, we need to learn the positive things from them. OH! Thanks to our creator, Black People are not rioting and destroying their neighborhood any longer, OH! I forgot, we are just murdering each other, and going to institutions like jail, smart thinking, Black People. Now, who fault is that? End of story.

    We are about the most helpless race and culture that our creator could have ever made. We are always manipulated into the illusions of life. The answer can be directly in our face, but we rather ignore it, but other cultures and races embraces the opportunity, but not Black People who has the financial means. Just watch us when we get a little something. Black People, observe yourself. Do not take my word, but yet you want to blame President Obama, and White People, really?
    I personally is not angry at White People because they have given us thousands and thousands of chances to get our life together, but the Black People who has the financial means are damn right selfish and copy cats.     I am going to generalize here, but the observation I am making in terms of my black family is based in truth.

    In my family, we have 2 unintended “camps”. Those who chose to strengthen their families by enriching themselves in faith, are doing well, even in the midst of poverty. Why? Because faith gives them the moral compass to avoid catastrophic choices (for example: substance addiction, out of wedlock children, or disease brought on by hard living and poor choices).

    Those whom have not taken this route fall into two categories: achievement of high education while prone to poor moral decisions, and utter abject hopelessness (wandering).

    Those whom achieve high education generally fall into the thinking that education will solve our societal issues. However, they engage in the same behaviors (substance use, willingness to have or engage in behavior that produce out of wedlock children) that cause breakdowns in African-American families. Worse still, their income ability allows those in this group to “mask” the affect of their lifestyle choices, giving those who are not as fortunate to falsely believe they can “get away” with the same behaviors.

    The last group are those whom have rejected faith. And because poor behavior is implicitly encouraged (see black entertainment), they feel free to engage in poor behavior. Obviously, this leads to the degregation of our communities and the ruining of individual lives.

    These problems cant be solved by simplistic solutions. An although I have implied that faith can play a role in helping the situation, it alone is not the total solution. But the bottom line is this: we cannot look to one man, a governments policies, or a political party to solve our problems. We have to begin the very difficult work of looking inward.

    We can draw inspiration from other disadvantage ethnicities and minorities who are finding success all around the world. We can achieve the same if we work to solve our own cultural issues instead of relying on an outside entity to do it for us.

    Black People are being ignored under President Obama’s Administration. President Obama seems to only care about the Blacks in Celebrity Status. I did not expect him to ignore all the other cultures and groups, but I was hoping that he understood that we are the people who opened up the gates for all “Minority Groups”, and now, we are the only minority groups, so to speak is being suppress and oppress.

    The Hispanics who is now getting the jobs that Black People use to hold is prejudice as can be unless you speak Spanish. With the White groups and Hispanics, as long as you look European, Whites will hire the Hispanic’s before they hire Blacks. Many of the times, they may hire a Black Man because they are seeking a relationship with him.

    Some Black Men may find this quite flattering, but I have many Black Male relatives married to or in relationship with Hispanic Women, and they are are being brainwash until they have certainly lost their identity. It reminds me as to how Blacks became slaves in the first place from the education I had as a child in the south.

    If one would do some critical thinking in knowing that during the last of the known, “Civil Rights Movement”,after Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated, there was plenty jobs for Blacks. I believe we gain approximately 1/3 of the hole pie, now we are forced to share that 1/3 with every single group that is considered a minority. Basically, we are back where we started, and the ones who made it across the bridge, i.e, Clarence Thomas, has forgotten about the Blacks they left behind, and show no interest.

    There are thousands of Blacks who has the funds to open their own business and the knowledge, but they still depends on their security blanket as in the past. What are we afraid of? Why are we complaining when the Blacks who have the funds and power to help their people, do not care? My Chinese friends, my White friends, my friends from different parts of the Middle Eastern Countries, my Jewish friends, and other groups I know take care of their own people first, why not Blacks? Why we are the only race/culture that seems to be compel to help every single group before we help our people? Why?

    No other groups have a problem hiring their own people to work for them, so why do Black People? Why every single group but Blacks seems to love and adore their own people, but Blacks? Whenever Hispanics introduces a Hispanic Women on television, he always brags about her saying how beautiful she is, so do Whites. Not Blacks, we are quick to insult each other on national television.

    Many Hispanics I see, they are becoming the new Whites, so to speak. If you just be observant even watching television, it is there all the times whereby they will hire only the most European looking Hispanics on television only. Just as the Hispanics are being conditioned, so have we. The differences is that the lighter skinned Hispanics can go for White without having any form of Hispanic features.

    In Atlanta, Two Historical Black Churches Lie in New Stadium’s Path. If you read the history of these churches, it will make you cry. These churches has a great history whereby slaves were buried, and where the first Howard University College began. Now, they want to purchase the property for ten-million dollars and the young Blacks are begging to sell the property for a recreational facility to add onto the stadium. We will sell our souls with a price. No other groups would even think about selling. What is wrong with Black People? Please do not tell me about slavery, how long will we have enslave minds? Forever?

    I could continue, but time just do not permit me to. I tried on several occasions to reach out to you NAACP, but was ignored as I am ignored by many groups as to what is going on in the real world of Blacks.

I thought the NAACP and Ben Jealous were just that – jealous of Barack Obama, speaking negatively about him because he was the Black man who got the high position and not them. But I was WRONG WRONG WRONG, in my vote for Obama and in my opinion of him, and Jealous is RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT!

    Things have certainly declined for black people since the advent of Obama, especially for Black women as far as social status. Black women fought hard for years to not be criminalized, to become educated and be taken seriously. under the Obama years, black women have become the most hated group in America – and Obama and co. keep shoveling the sh*t to destroy us.

    The most recent insult (dangerous insult at that) is the throwing under the bus a black female activist against American racism in the 60s and 70s, Assata Shakur. Obama just made the first woman to ever be added to the terrorism list a BLACK WOMAN, with no care or regard for all of the evil deeds of whites since the inception of America.

    If this man isn’t the devil in disguise, then I don’t know who is. We should all be writing our letters to Obama to protest this insult to Black women everywhere. Any Black man who would tear down a woman who fought for HIS freedom is beyond no-good. Obama was a huge mistake for the black community, and black women specifically.

    Obama is just like any other politician, he responds to and serves the interests of those who show they mean business with a large, representative population holding a check in one hand and a set of dated agenda items in the other.

    I’ve been saying it since day one: he is not our great black hope; he will use us, betray us or just plain ignore us as so many have before, we as a people need to value each other more and train people outside of our group to earn our affection and loyalty.

    Another thing is (and I know there are guys who will not like this but it matters not, it’s just fact) many males tend to assume the best about and defend other males without proving their character and in some cases when the know the character of the defendee is shady (as evidenced especially in how he treats women). there is a loyalty that guys give to each other out of some baseless manhood code and they are often reluctant to challenge or question or scrutinize who it is they are doing favors for. I’ll give you a couple of examples: back in 2004 I think it was when the whole Ted Haggard debacle was forming, Dr James Dobson a noted and respected family educator and psychologist who had been around for some time, stated publicly that he was sure Ted was innocent because he had been a friend of his for years; well we know now that eventually all of the evidence was to the contrary. Dr Dobson began to distance himself from the man Ted and his perdicament after discussing it with his wife, family and friends (ya think!?). It was a very unwise move to knit his own reputation with that of a man he could not possibly be “sure” wasn’t guilty of the things he was accused of, he didn’t even stop to consider that the accuser wouldn’t make a fool out of himself by making such a publicly humiliating claim against Ted if he didn’t have a way to prove it.

    Here’s another example: in the move Snitch, the son decides he was going to show loyalty to a “friend” who sent him a package containing enough narcotic to get him a Federal sentence for 10+ years by not testifying against him (simply telling the truth of the situation) and going back home. Now the first mistake this young man made was to not tell his “friend” FIRMLY, in no uncertain terms, without equivication or hestitation that NO he may not send him any package containing something unknown and unrequested. But anyway, no doubt this guy thought his gesture in refusing to testify (against the strong advisement of BOTH his parents present with him mind you) was “What I have to do” to be a man–stupid. Now that was a guy around age 18 or so, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen in real life, grown men do the same thing as this adolescent.

    Look, the bottom line is we injure ourselves beyond the insults dealt us from other; which is not to say this country doesn’t owe us, because America does–DOCUMENTED, but I just want us to stop satisfying the confirmation biases of those who are against us. I know we could be so piwerful economically if we just got our priorities straight, I grew up seekn white folks hate each other’s guts but stay married for sake of estate planning and the generational empire they’re building; we need to move past killing each other (physically and otherwise) and past distrusting each other. We are far behind time and we look incredibly stupid to so many who observe us collectively, IT NEED NOT BE.

    My suggestions are to forgive, recognize the very REAL impact the socially engineered divide and conquer scheme have had on us, squash petty beefs, organize our goals, appoint worthy accountable leaders who will ALWAYS be under pressure to deliver, never forgetting they WORK FOR US. We need to know all municipal and state laws where we are the majority backwards and forwards and pool our funds to buy up as much real estate in those places as possible and the use the same method to secure our own legal team. We need to support the case that the harvest institute lead by Dr Claud Anderson is bringing to get us the repair that is legally owed to us–look it up. If you are one who thinks supporting a reach for repair of the damage done to blacks (literally in our profession called damages) as the result of malicious economic advantage and theivery down through the generations, fine, just make sure you’re not in line to get paid or a tract of land when when the judgment falls in our favor.     I wonder how many folks can recall an old 1960 & 70s political saying “Poverty programs are designed to fail”? Meaning… keep black youth high on drugs, fatherless and in jail so the future job market can strive with white manpower. Additionally the lack of adequate education and training skills have robbed any future hopes or dreams for black youth’s. The mental deprivation and lack of self esteem is not their fault as much as the black community, black greedy politicians and corrupted white government. Forget about urine tests and any other tests which all are controlled by the system designed to say “NO”.
    As long as black people have been in America they have the same opportunity to develop and support their own community like the Asians especially, and other minority groups without depending on hand outs from a non-giving government. If our grandparents survived the worse eras of the times so can the present generation helping each other, teaching and training each other above the decay and burden of this careless society. The wake up call is Now… and if our future babies will have any future to call their own we must make it for them…not the government.

    this my friends is why the NAACP is irrelevant. The unemployment numbers for African American are higher because our community has not embrassed Education as a whole. I know people who have activly attempted to recruit young African American men for jobs in the Washing Metro Area because of the large amount of construction that’s going on in the area and many of the men are unable to be employed because they can not pass the urine test.     While being all caught up on some emotional first so-called black president hype.
    This vast % seem to not know that never would a so-called black president being elected or put in power to really benefit poor black people or even so-called middle class type black’s.
    It seems this vast % were all happy and felt safe with this color stuff.
    In this case it was trick designed to further divide and create all types of confusion to the real goals of real freedom and independence.

    On a classic lecture by Amos Wilson even he had said if ever a so-called black president was elected,it would be really in the best interest’s of the dominate white power to structure to have this person put in power.

    As we are seeing the results of this,it’s obvious some black people are just in denial and just to blind to deal with the current reality right in their faces.
    The only solution on a grand scale is to rise to a new type of liberation paradigm and leave this civil rights,talented tenth leadership concept behind in history somewhere.

      Actually, Yes. Blacks would be better off with McCain as president for the past 4 years. The reason is based on facts. Under Republican presidents, the “unemployment gap” between blacks and whites has been less than it has been with Obama’s policies. From a political perspective, unemployment is the one thing that government can actually influence the most. Also, outside a faith in God and following His teachings, having a legit job is the #1 thing that will advance black people — as individuals and as a group. Food stamps and government housing is nothing short of a non-sterile band-aid: it makes it look better for a while, but in the end, it makes a person worse off.

      @one silverback, we are not here to “bash” the president and some part of your statement suggest to me that you might not even be an African-American.

      My goal here is to try having an intelligent discussion with other African-Americans about our Black plight.

      President Obama has done some good things to help ALL Americans as he should. But things are nearly in shambles in the African-American communities, i.e. high unemployment and so forth. I am not saying the president can TOTALLY fix this, but why can’t he use his platform to HELP rally the community. I think the problem in our community is serious enough to warrant the administration creating a taskforce to look at our situation. No, the government is not the total answer, but it could assist with this growing problem.

      But instead we have a president who is silent on the issues affecting Black America who is suffering the worse out of all the ethnic groups.

The largest debt, the largest increase of the amount we owe to others. The fall of the middle east. The ruin of the nations military might. The influx of 25 million not 11 million Illegals in to the country. and on and on. he could have been great but he really had not a clue what being the president of the most important and powerful country the world has ever known is all about.

    When I read these posts, they remind me why we’re having this conversation, because we just don’t get it. What exactly are we asking from Pres Obama? Do we want legislation that addresses Urban America or issues that concern Black America? Is that what we are arguing for? If so, then we need to start with the Congressional Representatives from your Districts(CBC). OK, listen people, our system is a system of representative government, with Congressional representatives representing your neighborhoods and communities. If Urban America or Blacks want legislation that addreses our issues,this legislation comes from Congress, get it. OK, Pres Obama can also propose legislation, but in order for it to pass, he has to have the votes in Congress. In Nov 2010, the Tea Party sent conservative repubs to Congress and as we all know how that turned out. Any legislation submitted to Congress by the president that spends money on Urban America or Black America would fail, wouldn’t have a chance, get it. OK, this mean Blacks must do what the Tea Party done, which is go after the Congressional Representation and make them fight for legislation that deals with Black America’s issues. If Blacks don’t get out and vote for reps that support our issues then Blacks don’t deserve to get their issues addressed. This is how our democracy works. If you don’t understand or if you don’t believe in the voting system, then you don’t understand how Israel has so much clout, or the Tea Party, or white senior citizens. They have clout because they vote. WAKE UP PEOPLE. Pres Obama is not your enemy, we are !!!!

      your points were well taken, but a lack of understanding the legislative system as you have eloquently described is NOT the issue for ALL of us disappointed with President Obama.

      I will try to make an analogy using Slavery Abolitionist, John Brown when he and 21 others bravely attacked U.S. Arsenal at Harpers Ferry, VA. Brown knew that he and sons would die, but according to his diary, he had hoped that his attempt would MAINLY “shock” the conscious of the slavery institution.

      With that being said, like, Brown’s feeble attempt, it is possible that a public acknowledgement from President Obama just might “shock” the conscious of our leaders and lead to the creation of a taskforce to seriously look at what is happening in our community.

      Unemployment is the highest amongst Black people and a range of other issues unique to Black folks are being ignored and I agree we must help ourselves, but that is NOT happening.

      Most of us know that laziness runs in every ethnic group, but I’m talking about something that is much broader than that.

      I think the president needs to do something as BOLD as President Johnson did for people back in ’64 when he attempted to eradicate poverty in America. And for most of you, I am NOT talking about POTUS giving us a hand out, an increase in food stamps or more unemployment extension, not that those aids have not been helpful.

      Now, we all know that President Obama most certainly CAN NOT resolve most of the issues affecting us with the stroke of his presidential ink pen, but he can at least verbalize it nationally. TALK about it!

      And, this does not let the Congressional Black
      Caucus off the hook or our representatives, but the president is our leader. Notice that he never mentioned any problems facing us during his inaugural address. Pluh-eeze

    We, Black people, have to stop whining about President Obama and try finding the causes and solutions to high employment in our Black communities. I think there several factors. First we have to graduate from high school. That means those without high school should try to get GED. I have met very bright Black boys and girls, but they lack GED. Employers first ask if you have 12 year degree. Second we have to stop hooliganism. Baggy pants showing underwear. No regular employer would hire somebody with baggy pants. Third, we have to be committed to find employment. This is despite some of us have criminal records. There are jobs that do not inhibit you from employment despite criminal record: highway construction, drywall painting, carpentry, brick layers, trucking, delivery jobs, assembly work, high rise construction etc. Get training at 2 year college – six months graduation. President Obama has grants and loans for you. If we are denied jobs we have to find why. Sue the employers. However, we blacks also have to be careful with federal judges now. Some federal judges are republicans and are now turning racists. They are upset President Obama was re-elected. These racist judges are avenging themselves by denying blacks justice. So even if you sue, these judges will defend employers. Please read discrimination cases from 7th circuit. You will be amazed how racists those judges are. They are republicans and usually side with employers, sometimes knowingly. We used to hear such judges’ behavior in federal courts in Texas. We never expected such behavior to happen in our backyard federal court of Western District of Wisconsin. One judge in my federal court district conducted a Kangaroo hearing – denying a Black man right to ask his opponent questions. Some republican judges were raised to believe Blacks are intellectually inferior to Whites. We have to make sure we get justice in courts. Also watch out republican governors. They don’t want Blacks to sue employers. In fact, like in Wisconsin, the governor is trying to get rid of section that investigates discrimination complaints. So in Wisconsin you can be denied a job and there is nowhere to whine. The Wisconsin court system is still works – so far. I am glad the New York mayor has ordinance to allow the unemployed to sue employers who refuse to hire the unemployed. Reminder – Please be careful who you have federal judges. Some judges are republicans and now are really upset President Obama was re-elected. Investigate if the judge is a republican and fire him or her within 10 days of filing your case. I did once and therefore you can do so.

    There are many valid points made about the president, some true ans some not.
    There is one thing that does concern me is that why hasn’t he granted any pardons to those who deserved it? Hell,even bush granted pardons to some people. This is non excusable because he does not need anyone’s permission to pardon anyone that he sees fit.

    Does anyone feel like they have been “duped?” Ok, hear me out. When he ran in 08′ he ran against a competent old man (who could have died in office) with a batshit inexperience fool. Blacks, caught up in the thoughts off having the first black president voted for him in droves and whites fearing that plain might end up as president did as well…….no contest. The second time around the republicans brought this circus of unelectable freaks and ended up with the most unlike able man possible…mitt. Once again because of the attacks and code speak of the republican party we once again voted him in. The point that I’m trying to make is that we were indirectly forced to vote for someone who basically promised us nothing but was still better than his opponent. Obama for the most part is bush with a tan. His policies are no different than bush’s.

    Many of you have pointed out that he has kept his promises to the gays and the Latinos, but if you think about it what has he promised us? If he and the democratic party does not do anything for us as a people in the next three year, we should vote enmass for a third party candidate. We should realize by know that republicans don’t like us and the democrats take our votes for granted.

    Where was Ben Jealous on Martin Luther King’s holiday? When Obama spoke at the Congressional Black Caucus, he told them to stop whining and complaining and to put on their marching shoes. His inauguration in honor of Dr. King was the perfect opportunity to publicly tell Obama we need jobs and to reform education first.

    And did you all really hear what President Obama said in his inaugural speech, which is filled with several flaws and contradictions. Let me break it down to you:

    1.He opened with “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. Today we continue a never-ending journey, to bridge the meaning of those words with the realities of our time.”

    And He closed with, “You and I, as CITIZENS, have the power to set this country’s course. You and I, as CITIZENS, have the obligation to shape the debates of our time – not only with the votes we cast, but with the voices we lift in defense of our most ancient values and enduring ideals.”

    [But yet, his first priority is immigration reform! What about our pursuit of Happiness? Did we, as US citizens, have an opportunity to lift our voices in making that decision?]

    2.He went on to say “For we remember the lessons of our past, when twilight years were spent in poverty, …”

    [Obviously, he is not in touch with those currently living poverty today, that’s because he’s one of the lucky ones.]

    3.He further states, “For we, the people, understand that our country cannot succeed when a shrinking few do very well and a growing many barely make it.

    [Hold on, I thought poverty was resolved, so now he comes back to reality and acknowledges that poverty is increasing, but he fails to address it or unemployment as a top priority instead he selects immigration reform.]

    4.In his concluding remarks, he claims, “Our journey is not complete until we find a better way to welcome the striving, hopeful immigrants who still see America as a land of opportunity; until bright young students and engineers are enlisted in our workforce rather than expelled from our country.”

    [Hello, President Obama, African Americans are CITIZENS. And how about teaching our own students to become engineers and giving them the jobs. I have had foreign students tell me how easy it is for them to get into college here in the US, and how scholarships and jobs are plentiful, but we can’t even get passed affirmative action. Moreover, I have personally seen an Obama administrator assist foreigners abroad for employment in the U.S. while our citizens need jobs.]

    Lastly, it has been reported that 93% of African Americans voted for President Obama, and six billion dollars was raised during the 2012 election campaign, but yet again his first priority is immigration, when we, as CITIZENS, are about to go over a fiscal cliff, when we, as CITIZENS, have a war going on in our own nation with all the gun violence, when poor CITIZENS and the African American CITIZENS are sinking further in poverty. Is he serious?

    In closing, President Obama stated in his inaugural speech, “We do not believe that in this country freedom is reserved for the lucky, or happiness for the few.”

    [But yet, his first priority, he devotes to immigration! How lucky can we get and so much for our pursuit of happiness.]

    I was disappointed that OUR PRESIDENT, did not mention African American, in his inargurual address, only that the lines should not be so long to vote. Now if we as African American, had not stood in line to vote, there would be no second term for President Obama. I agree that he should devote a segement in his state of the Union Address, to African American,his second term is already cemeted, he cannot be impeached for caring about the largest majority that put him in office. I am also disappointed that he has not appointed more African American women to his cabinmet. I know there are lots of gualified Black women that can do the same job that,Napatonia, is doing. You never hear a word about the Black Surgeon General, that was appointed, what happen to her,did she just evaporate from the face of the Office/world. I am afraid this immigration bill will only bring more people to take the few jobs that are available
    for whom ever. Because the white world always want to paint the picture that African Americans are lazy and not qualified. The NAACP, WAS DEFINITE RESPONSIBLE FOR a lot of the voting rights that was enforced this year, but I cannot say the same thing for West, and Smiley. We still need to feel responsible for ourselves, to try to start our own business, we just cannot give up as a people. The President, must step up to the plate more for African American, because the white minorities, now will always try to make it worst for African American, so they can blame the President.

Instead the head of the NAACP is talking about what we don’t have. The LGBT community and the Hispanic community presented an organized agenda. They knew what they wanted and became activist to push their agenda through. What is the Black agenda? Ask 10 blacks and get 10 different answers. We can’t just come up with something general. We need to pinpoint something we can get that will improve our plight. We haven’t organized or demanded anything under this president, yet we’re disappointed. Everything Blacks ever got, we fought for. Now that we have a black president, we just complain. Too many blacks don’t vote “down ballot”. They don’t vote in off elections. They don’t influence local elections. We talk as though it all comes from the top. IT DOESN’T. We’d better get more politically savvy and organized to push through a specific agenda. Stop whinning about whether this president cares or not. Get busy and start becoming activist, as we should be under any president. We lack the organization, detailed demands and the push needed to get any demands met. STOP WAITING. STOP COMPLAINING. STOP EXPLAINING. GET BUSY. Write the Ben Jealousys and Jesse Jacksons ( or any major black organization) and ask how we can organize around a specific agenda to improve our plight. Then pile on the pressure. Blacks have done this many times in the past. You’d think we’d know what to do.

Why, when African-Americans speak and seek equity, we say he’s not just an African American President? Let’s face it, this presidency is a huge disappointment! I supported him in 2008 because he instilled in us his HOPE and CHANGE doctrine, most of us are still waiting for his HOPE and CHANGE! Do you know how many jobs his trips to Hawaii could provide? Does anyone have any idea how much money is spent for fuel on the plane, security, etc for these trips every few weeks. Using an entire plane to fly BO (the dog) to Hawaii? What a waste!

      Unless moe federal projects related to our infrastructure open up, no president can realistically “create” more jobs. Ok, wait, they can give more tax breaks to major corps to hire more folks. Oh but wait, aren’t we tired of the tax breaks that these corps get now?

      So does the President have the ability to tell a business owner to “hire” more people???

      Do some of you really think you would be better off with a GOP president or Hillary? If so, yall are smoking some stuff.

    I would like to ask Mr. Jealous, . . .What has the NAACP done towards helping the problem? And I ask that question as a life member of the NAACP. If infact Mr. Jealous is correctly quoted, I would suspect that the NAACP is diverting the question away from its own inaction. I also suggest to those who say the president has not done anything for blacks, that you probably read blogs, instead of reputable papers. We should rightfully expect some attention from anyone who serves as president, but don’t ask President Obama to get up in the morning and go job hunting for you, nor to school, nor collect your unemployment check for you, which was extended to help blacks and minorities who are the first to get fired. Most of you making these negative statements are quoting what you heard, not what you know. There is a long list of things that President Obama has done, which includes blacks….unemployment and college grants to name a few. Who sits in the emergency room more than blacks/minorities? What do you call the health insurance that was passed? Who do you think this benefits?. The umemployment list is lower than ever,jobs are out there. Get off your duffs and get yourself qualified, do what you should do, and stop waiting on some other black/white man to cure your problems. You need not respond to this. I will not waste time responding to nonsense.

What have they done about mass incarceration of african american people,particularly in Sothern States, like Louisiana. I was a member of the NAACP and was maliciously and wrongfully convicted becasue I file a complaint on the D A, and judge for false arrest. My son was arrested and maliciously convicted and is in jail now on a charge that does not exist. A lot of these bogus charges/convictions happen in the South and nothing is being done about it. Louisiana has more people incarcerated thatn the entire prison nation,(world). And the NAACP, like many other so called civil rights organizations do nothing. they would not even acknlowlege they receive my complaint. May be hde’s saying something nlow because Rev. Edward Pickney, BHbanco is about to picket them next month.

    I think this article and many of the other enlightening articles Dr Boyce publishes on his site are enciteful! My husband lost his job due to power Obama gave governors to lay off jobs that they never had before, jobs of which are needed, and later filled with less experienced persons that they can pay lower wages. He thought he would retire there after given his former employer 15 years of work faithfully. He was never given a reason for it either. After over a year of unemployment due to no work in nj he had to go back to school for a different trade, at his age it was difficult but his determination helped! He also tried to get money as he did in the past to flip homes but due to Obama’s bail out to the banks he learned the banks no longer need the smaller business man for loans to make money, their policies for loans are far more strict for ppl who are without tip top credit, which he said was not required before, the facts are there no matter the excuse blacks are suffering dearly in our current system, there’s a lot of suggestions, but little efforts or significant help!

You must also understand that Mr. Obama is only a prop for a class of whites who have been doing whatever they wanted for centuries. Nothing is done in this country without permission from these ‘Anglo-elite’! They are barely known by most of us and they learned centuries ago that it is better to wield power in the background than to flaunt themselves as “kings” and emperors! Obama, just as South Africa’s Mandela, are merely tools for these tyrannical “whites” and their cohorts. As for the condition of blacks here, and the condition of Africans across the diaspora, these Anglo-elite are destroying our lives and causing us to murder ourselves at faster rates! We are without a clue as to what is going on behind our backs and part of our blindness is related to our emotional beleifs in religions. See how that’s working for the Islamic people of Africa and the middle east. There are books and writings that give information about what we are dealing with and who’s responsible for what, but few seek this knowledge and few care to know! Sometimes truth can drive some crazy or cause them to end life sooner in order to escape the contradictions and madnesses. I would advise you to study everything you can and to ground yourself by trying to enjoy doing at least one of the things that bring you great joy. If religiou is the only thing which bring you the greatest joy try to understand that there are consequences to subjecting you mind to superstition and fiction.

    The honorable Ben Jealous has a good heart. His heart is in the right place but he is faced with impossible challenges and a focus on a Euro-centric leadership which has fixed as their surrogate leader an African/European “black” person! The only thing I can add is that there is a psychological bent that causes many humnans to relate to a “God” and attach all sorts of emotional and physical accomplishments and downfalls to it. We are a very unique form of animal creature on this planet but the created mindset of God is not helping the billions of us! We are all functioning completely from our minds, but our minds are constantly being bombarded with nonsense and we were raised and given a great share of nonsense from those we cherish, believe, and our emotional peers.
      As Africans “blacks” we have always been preyed upon by the European species of our race. There is a reason why they are best at this, but we are unable to collectively comprehend or understand why. We are unable to collectively do much of anything anymore because we have been preyed upon by a group which understands the importance of keeping us in the dark on many levels and will do anything including commit genocide and targeted murder to keep us as deminished of clear thought as possible.         Understand, said the old “black” man, who is the opposite of you. Understand so that you will know, what you have to do! This poem by the last poets is as true today as it has ever been. Everything and I mean everything that is negative to the black community and hurts us has a beginning and a cause. Many have been brainwashed into believing that it is our own fault and many have convinced themselves that if they can climb out from under the scourge of white supremacy and institutionalized racism anyone can. Many will never understand that the psychological makeup of each individual combined with variables of nature and nurture create variations in a person’s ability to function. We are functioning under rigid constraints combined with a strong undercurrent of espionage and clandestine conspiring. Those of us who can actually beat this “system” are quite fortunate indeed given the harsh circumstances we are dealing with. When we try to create our own strengths we don’t realize that a great scheme has been laid in place to prevent our communal successes. Again everyone is not able to accomplish what some are able to accomplish. That is true in all walks of life but even more so when you consider that our leadership, family structure, economic structure, psychological stature, beliefs, common sense, and lets just say, (everything we understand as pertaining to “blacks”) is dependent upon what obstacles the Anglo-elite and their minions of wealthy/poor and powerful racist haters plot and place in our paths. They are plotting against us and those across the African diaspora in every phase of our lives. The negative state in which we find many of our community suffering isn’t just happenstance, or accidental, or “Their fault”. We are being set-upon in the most diabolical ways without our ever realizing it. The signs are all around us but many of us are ‘too’ blind and/or ignorant to see.

        We have been so assimilated into this racist system that we feel quite a part of it! We have forgotten how our enemies function, how they think, how they plan and scheme and smile and snicker and talk behind our backs about how worthless we are to them and their ‘Manifest Destiny” etc. We trudge along wondering why we have so many suffering incarceration, shootings by police, drug related problems, family problems, judicial, health, education etc. Little do most know that the joke is on us and we are constantly plotted against and corralled into negative conditions, situations, and places. In order to correct this we must get the racist enemy to speak out, to expose their exploits, to expose the ongoing plans they have to create wealth from abusing and killing us, etc. We must create a new way to communicate with all of the “black” community and get them all to understand that we are facing dire straights and our children are being set up to suffer and fail just as we were, and as “blacks” across the African Diaspora have always been! We have been made to turn on each other just as the “blacks” and others around the world are made to murder each other! All this creates wealth for these same ‘Anglo-elite’ and their cohorts. All of the negative harsh conditions we face are put in place, all of the gaps in education, health, and economics are there on purpose. Every non-televised, non-promoted, non-explanation concerning the “black plight” is done purposely.

        Finally the solution to our problems are very difficult to solve because we are a people without our own ‘anything’. Without our own culture, our own language, our own traditions, our own economic structure which would serve us first, our own belief system. We are literally living a “white” lie! We have been assimilated into a cultural structure which hides the fact that they despise and hate us! Yet we continue along as if everything will be alright if we could just do this or do that. Now we cannot do anything because those who keep us down have been doing it ever since they brought our ancestors here. They have adjusted, improved, and changed many of their devices and tactics but their direction and purposes have not changed, and we are not aware just how vile and diabolical our “benefactors” are!
        The only way we might find some light at the end of the tunnel is to find a way to copy the Jewish model..A difficult task considering the fact that the Jews have a country, great wealth, (some of which this nation somehow constantly provides), traditions, education, and their own traditional religious belief structure. These are traits that most successful immigrants have. More importantly they don’t have a history of being hated for the color of their skin! Even so, we must find a way to sructure our efforts to match the path set by the Jewish community because they have shown us that it can be done!

    Black people are in trouble. We need to develop a killer instinct. We cannot follow Christianity blindly, we have to be more pragmatic about religion. Religion is just a tool in a toolbox. We have to learn how to use it and when to use it. For example, the catholics used Chritianity to create a great empire. The Arabs used Islam to build one of the greatest empires. They used religion as a tool to commit genocide, etc…

    Black people have to become greedy. We need to believe in Science, the concept of evolution or the survival of the fittest. If you believe in Evolution, you will start to have a different view of the world. You will realize that every being and species are in a fight for survival and those who are weak will lose. If black people do not stand up and start to fight, our race will be subjugated and even become extinct. Racism is not bad, it is just a means of evolution. We are in a competitive race. Are we going to be the winner or the loser?

    Is it not time that we quit playing the “victim” card, we have a problem in the Black Community, it is called “lazy” there are jobs out there to be had, but we would rather stand on the street corner and sell, as well as, do drugs or the women are at home in bed dropping babies like she is on an assemby line and then down to the welfare office she goes to sign up for that check and food stamps. We destroy our own neighborhoods, we destroy ourselves, we have not learned anything from our forefathers who did not have much but what they had they took care of and they worked hard, if there is going to be change we must do it ourselves by investing the time and money in education for our children. I remember a time when we had our own clubs, diners and nice neat homes, what happened? The president belongs to everyone, he cannot do everything, like I said we must help ourselves. Until we make some changes to the man/woman in the mirror, our culture will continue down hill. There are winners and losers in this world and we have to make the choice which one we want to be. The President cannot make that choice for you!

    Understand this,nearly 150 years after the Civil War, and almost sixty years since the civil rights movement, race is still a powerful factor in American life. Yes, in some circumstances, we have made progress, and in other circumstance, the system has forced the clock backwards. As a comparison, I just want justice and opportunities for my black folks, and the current system wants ignorance and re-slavery. By 2050, non-whites will be the majority, so they (the system) are currently placing and legislating laws that will protect their interest and give them permanent protection. Remember, they have had over four hundred years of free labor to establish their current system. We are playing catch up, but we have alot of personal growth, individual growth, trusting growth in each other, supportive growth, we have alot of work to do. In order for us to complete our goals,our life-time mission is to become self-efficient and reestablish our own economy for self preservation.     The current black employment rate is not higher because of Pres. That Administration doesn’t give a damn about blacks. In 2010, I had wrote a letter directly to where Obama receives his mail to some address in Chicago, IL, where he claims that we, as The People, can write directly to him (knowing some of his staff members get these letters first before it reaches his hands, or if they even reach his hands)to share your ideals and to come up with ways to create jobs in order to revive the economy and to help the unemployed in your community, just as I suspect in return after maybe like two weeks, or three weeks, maybe a month later in response, i received a one-page letter back from someone of his Administrative Staff Member simply advising me to contact your local so and so in my area; it was like they didn’t even expressed that this is a good idea that you came up with or we’re take this into consideration or none of that was said in the letter; simply “contact your local agency for details on how to so and so”. The point is, his Administration claims that they are for the “American People,” but in fact, they’re all for themselves when it’s time to get re-elected just to get back into The White House, sit on their butts and do not a thing for black people. There are a whole lot of “Obama-worshippers”, and sadly, primarily “us” as black people, that kisses the ground this man walks on. On the contrary, I don’t because he doesn’t give a sh*t about the urban communities like he claims he does. I haven’t seen any results…YET.I wish Bill Clinton could have gotten re-elected, but per The Constitution prohibiting, o well.

    We should be very clear that with the election of President Obama, came the upturn of racist politics by the republican party. The downturn of the economy, the cutting in government employment, and the upturn in racist politics has happened during Obama’s tenure.

    What I do not understand is why the likes of Tavis Smiley, Dr. Cornell West, the NAACP, the Urban League, and you, etc. are not attacking this congress, the republican governors, and the republican party, who are the architects of current policies that have affected the black community more horrendously than the white community.

    Note the racist politics that the current republican party has put forth,to do something about inmmigration to gain the votes of the Latino community, but have not put forth any plans to gain the votes of the African American community are by design. It is the “2nd Reconstruction” to assure that there will not be Blacks in power for another 100 years. The actions of these individuals are helping their cause. Do something to help the “Black cause”

    Recognize that President Obama has experienced the same negative response from 47% of the white community because he is BLACK, and not because he is Bi-Racial. President Obama is not keeping us down. Please put on your thinking cap, and stop acting like “Crabs in a Barrel.”

      Come on, Obama is the president. He had 2 open positions in the Supreme Court, he gave one to a white woman and another to a hispanic woman. Only a dummy cannot see that Obama does not care about black people. If Obama cared for black people, the first open position on the supreme court should have gone to blacks. If Obama were smart, he should have tried to put 2 black people on the supreme court. You have to be greedy to help your people. This is a perfect example on how black people dont take advantage of opportunities to consolidate their power. When a black person get in a position of power, he/she should try to consolidate by bringing more black people in for every open position and to weed out the rest of the people to make room for more black people. Unfortunately, black people have no killer instincts. Other races do this all the time.

    The problems that black people are having was predicted by Mr. Farrahkan and the Honorable Elijah Muhammad years ago. More profoundly, we were and are complicit in our own demise. We opted for the path of equality or a facsimile of it and they warned that white people who own capital will never accept you as an equal. Malcolm even spoke of it, we loved his words but did not heed them. Our fear was that we would lose out on something if we abandoned the white race and we did not want to be racist, by accepting the path of saving our monies, investing it, producing some of what we consume and marketing the balance.
    Mr. Obama’s election to the white house allowed whites to suggest that racism is dead, we accepted that too. In fact the minority of whites voted for him, and we took as a sign that all of them voted for him, thus racism is dead. Mr. Obama owes us nothing based on his action except to condemn black men for not taking care of thier families.     If the cultural backgrounds of those within the cabinet had been more closely associated with Historically Black Colleges and Universities the outcome would have been different. I attended a segregated school in 1941 to begin my formal education. Hence, I see the world a certain way. Anyone affiliated with the more than 100 HBUCs, either as a student or employee, would bring a certain perspective to the table.

    That is not the same perspective honed and shaped at Harvard or Stanford. It is neither better nor worse, just different. Many of us have an abiding appreciation of Dr. Carter Godwin Woodson and his creation of Negro History Week. Some will never understand why Dr. Woodson formulated this celebration. Do not blame Barack Obama for not having the world view that I hold.

    What I would suggest is that Dr. Malveaux organize an Black Economic Summit, much like the Black Political Convention of 1972 in Gary, IN. If the data is accurate in regards to thought processes associated with genetics, it could be that Barack Obama is doing the best with what he has, that his non-Black gene pool is dictating the terms at the 50% level.

    In closing, let us, the children of segregation, come together and get this job done. Anyone who is the product of segregation understands what I am talking about. John Howard Griffin wrote about it in “Black Like Me,” as did E. Franklin Frazier in “Black Bourgeoisie.”

    It is almost impossible to have critical thinking dialog with a people of whom, many are incapable of thinking for themselves.

    We are told that the reason we are being systematcially, economically-deprived is because, we lack, “college degrees”, “marketable skills” and “a burning desire to get off our behinds and work”. Yet, we do not possess the innate mental capacity that GOD gave us while creating us in his image to ask… Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Donald Trump and Micheal Dell (to name a few)are all white guys without technical degrees, yet alone college degrees and all are worth BILLIONS.

    We do not possess the innate mental capacity that GOD gaves us while creating us in his image to ask… why is it when WE Black People do attain the STEM based college degrees, we still on average, make only 70 cents for every ONE DOLLAR our white counterparts make, many of whom only possess high school diplomas?

    Like President Obama, many of us are products from generational environments of blindly accepting “Whiteness” in its many social, political, religious and institutional forms as the yard stick of measurement for all of humanity. So we imitate, regurgitate and pontificate all of “that” which is in our environments, but not necessarily that which is within us or is us or is really UNDERSTOOD by us.

    The sad fact is President Obama as a tool for the power structure, has been and continues to be a powerful tool for the powerful and in many instances, a tool of counter-productivity for the powerless.

    In the face of “the math”; the quality of life and standard of living statistics that define Black Americans up and down the social and economic strata versus White Americans, up and down the same social and economic strata, Black folk’s inequalities are rooted in the irrefutable fact that if you are no maker of the rules, you are no player of the game. And in White America’s games of life every hand we are dealt contains at least one or more joker cards of race. Hence, race and ethnicity in this 21st century are not just factors, but for the rule makers they are the only factors… factors that President Obama knows all too well are the “Game Changers” in White America’s game of economic deprivation.

    Whenever the economy is bad, minorities have a harder time financially. I’m not convinced that because this is occurring in this administration, that we should think it is the President’s fault. There are so many variables. I’m sure he shoulders some responsibility, but it is not a simple as some people make it out to be.

    I do believe we are seeing chnges for the better. The next four years, hopefully will move us in the right direction.

    Dear Mr. President:
    First of all, I wish to congratulate you on your re-election to a second term as President of the United States of America. I thought you ran an extraordinarily positive campaign even when your extremely flawed Republican opponent ran an extremely dishonest, distorted, misleading, deceitful, deceptive, mean-spirited, right-wing, severely conservative, racist and flip-flopping campaign. He ran a campaign predicated on his white maleness, his enormous wealth, his shameful lies, and his reliance on the legacy of a fading white supremacist electorate! This white boy felt a sense of entitlement! Imagine the irony! He was against all entitlements as it related to other Americans, but he felt that the Presidency was his entitlement! However, your opponent had one general, major, fatal flaw: he was, and is, a person without integrity, without character, without principles!
    We-the American people- feel honored and hopeful to have you as our President; but we also have high expectations of you in a number of very specific areas as it relates to our lives as African-Americans. We African-Americans reportedly gave you 93% of our votes during this past Presidential election, and I cannot imagine who those 7% of our community that didn’t vote for you. We voted for you, in large numbers, because you were by far the superior candidate! We are proud of you and the work you have attempted to do! We are proud too of the great principles you exude! We have a lot of work yet to do! We are with you, Mr. President!
    Mr. President, although the Republicans’ claim that we voted for your election in 2008 and your re-election on November 06, 2012, just because you are Black, the reality is that many of us, who are well-informed, intelligent and educated, voted for you too, and more importantly, because we feel that your Presidency would provide real progressive policies that will serve to improve our lives in most significant and profound ways. The forty-three white male Presidents who preceded you experienced no problems doing things to help and assist white people, and especially white males; and the people in my African-American community expect that you will not experience any problem doing really important things to help and assist African-American people! We actually have the audacity to believe that an African-American President would be aware of and sensitive to the interests and needs of the Community from whence he comes.
    I have no doubt that along with having had the special experiences of an Ivy League education, you certainly have had too the uncircumventable African-American experiences of life!
    Mr. President, when you were elected to the Presidency in 2008, I thought I was comfortably in the middle class insomuch as my economic situation was concerned. However, because of the economic downturn, I had to use up almost all of my savings and have begun to receive a number of calls from the Department of Public Welfare offering me the opportunity to receive food stamps! I don’t want to sound unappreciative about the offer from the Department of Public Welfare, but I am so disappointed that I even need to consider accepting food stamps as I am physically and mentally prepared to work full time and earn the ability to buy my own food! I am a senior citizen with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science and Psychology! I thought I was pretty much set for life, but I now need to find a job as soon as possible and go back to work!
    All of my children have gone to college except my son Antonio, who died in infancy: Marvin Jr. and Anthony went to Florida A&M University, Jacqueline to Tuskegee University, Monique to Clarion University, and Muneer and Munajj to Morgan State University. My last three children are Kashif, Khaaleedah and Kolonji. My son Kashif graduated from Princeton University on June 05, 2012, has taken his Medical College Admission Tests (MCAT), and performed so well that he is qualified to attend any medical school in the country. He is on a solid tract to become a doctor, an Orthopedic Surgeon! He will be the very first doctor of any level in “the ourstory” of our family! Khaaleedah is a senior at Lehigh University majoring in Architectural Engineering. She is on a solid tract to become an Engineer. She will be the very first Engineer in the family! Kolonji is a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Chemistry. He too plans to enroll into medical school after graduation from the University of Pittsburgh, and is presently on a solid tract to go on to medical school. He will then of course become the second doctor, an Orthopedic Surgeon, in the family after his brother Kashif! Mr. President, you know from your own extraordinary life experience how important a great education can be. With a great education, a Black person can even, and really, become President of the United States of America!
    Mr. President, when you fought so diligently to get the Affordable Health Care bill passed into law, I applauded your strong commitment to that task even in the face of seemingly unprecedented opposition to you. That acute opposition came from the Republican right wing, the Tea Party, Blue Dog Democrats, the Health Care Industry, Wall Street, and others who used cruelty, fear, intimidation, cowardice, racism and disrespect in failed efforts to stop a benefit that is important and really valuable to millions and millions of Americans! Many of the other millions of Americans were frankly too ignorant of the facts to make informed decisions and wounded up working and arguing against their own best interest. You have done a great number of other important things thus far, and you are doing an outstanding job for the country thus far! However, there is much more to be done! We will be there with you, and for you, throughout these years which will probably eventuate to be eight of the greatest and most important years of our lives!
    Please find my recommendations for ways you might advance policies that would help the people in my African-American community:
    1. Advance an Unemployment-to-Employment Program that will put twenty-five million American people to work! Put most of these proposed job opportunities programs in the urban centers of the country and mandate that African-Americans, and other disadvantaged and neglected groups, receive the Job Opportunities offered proportionate to the extremely high unemployment in many economically devastated and desperate areas of the country. African-Americans need most of these proposed job opportunities!

    a. The War On Poverty Program of the 60’s assisted a lot of people out of poverty and solidly into the middle class. The need for a War On Poverty Program is greater now than it was in the 60’s! Every abled-bodied person who needs and wants a job should have at least one job available to him or her! An Unemployment-to-Employment Program could be even more successful in elevating many American people out of desperate straits and into the middle class than the War On Poverty Program did in the 60’s! It could be called: People Organized to Work to Elevate Responsibility (POWER!)! Mr. President, don’t let this be an issue that you fail to address during your eight year tenure as President of the United States of America!

    2. The Prison Industrial Complex needs to be immediately, acutely, and dramatically reformed to ensure that this country discontinues the racist practice of having a system that serves as a pipeline for our African-American men to go from bad, ineffective schools to prison! Free thousands of people who are in prisons and jails around the country for the racist and discriminatory practice of charging sellers of crack cocaine differently than the sellers of regular cocaine, and for other minor drug charges. Provide immediate pardons to political, social and other prisoners who have served many years in prison for crimes that they may not have committed, and even those who may have committed some real crimes, but who are now the real victims of cruel and unusual punishment as confinement to a prison cell has reached the point of diminishing returns. White males are using cruelty, fear, cowardice, intimidation, discrimination and acute disrespect to develop, expand and perpetuate the Prison Industrial Complex that is well on its way of being a modern day system of slavery! We absolutely need our men home with their families in order to ensure that our community survives and thrives as a successful community!

    a. Free Mumia Abu Jamal, especially, who has been in prison far too long for being charged with a crime while fighting to defend the members of our Community here in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from the wrath of out of control police brutality under the rule of a dictatorial and tyrannical police chief! Instead of incarcerating our African-American boys and men, we absolutely need to employ them, pay them a living wage, encourage, and in some special instances, require them to either enroll into a skills training Program, a technical school or college. Our young men cannot remain on the path that has been erected for them by people who are working for their annihilation, destruction and extermination! Mr. President, don’t let this be an issue that you fail to address during your eight year tenure as President of the United States of America!

    3. Allocate billions of dollars more to expand early childhood education so that more African-American Children will get the opportunity to have a great, early start in their educational experience! Make sure that African-American teachers are vigorously and acutely recruited for this project, and especially African-American males. We must have us teaching us! In the segregated schools of the South where I attended school, everybody in the school was Black, everybody learned. However, when the schools in the north were “supposed to be integrated,” few of the children learned. All the system did was to take the white children out of the schools and place them in other all-white schools, and took our great, caring and nurturing Black teachers out of the schools and replaced them with callous, insensitive, disrespectful, non-nurturing, uncaring, vindictive, incompetent and scared white “teachers” who don’t give a damn about our precious African-American children. We must understand, aggressively confront, and eliminate the long-term devastation of discrimination in education and seriously consider the enormous cost and great tragedy of ignorance!

    a. Mr. President, we cannot continue to do the same things, the same ways, with the same white people, and expect different results! I know quite well that the labor unions of this country, in their best interest, have been a major source of support for you and the Democratic Party. However, you must be reminded that these very same unions have been a major sponsor of discriminatory practices in the workplace since their very inception. These unions are directly responsible for denying opportunities to generations of African-Americans for a long, long time! Their policies must be changed to reflect an attitude that shows that there are Americans who deserve and are prepared to work on those construction sites other than just the white males who are for all intents and purposes the only ones employed there now! These white males are prepared to keep all of the high-paying jobs in the lucrative building construction industry for all of the other white males! This racist industry must be attacked and the discriminatory practices rooted out, or have the system dismantled!

    This is an extremely bad and serious problem which needs to be addressed and resolved immediately! This is 2013 and discrimination is everywhere in this extremely racist country! These discriminatory practices are despicable! What is equally, or even more, despicable is the federal government’s heads-in-the-sand failure to respond to these heinous and unforgivable practices being perpetrated on disadvantaged people all over this country on a daily basis! African-Americans are also routinely denied opportunities to be trained and to serve in apprenticeship programs, and are not employed at the construction sites anywhere! How can this be happening in the United States of America in 2013 and not be radically contested? We should be shutting projects down that don’t allow us the fair share opportunities to work just as other people do! Isn’t this one of the major reasons why we need federal oversight, intervention and enforcement against discriminatory practices just like this? Education, including a technical or vocational training component, is one of the greatest keys to getting out of poverty; and it is one of the pillars of power, but white males are committed to denying us opportunities! Work or War!

    b. The teachers’ unions have used cruelty, fear, intimidation, cowardice, discrimination and disrespect to operate an Education Holocaust that is killing the Will and Spirit of our precious African-American children. When I was in school in South Carolina years ago, everybody went to school daily and everybody graduated at least from high school. Today, a boy who enters high school in the ninth grade will be lucky to walk down the aisle on graduation day with about 50% of the children who started out in the ninth grade with him! This is totally unacceptable, but it is the unfortunate reality of our unacceptable times! This is pure craziness! Let’s stop this tragedy now, today, immediately! Yes, Mr. President, all of our African-American children must be given the special opportunity to go to college, trade or technical school, all of them! Mr. President, don’t let this be an issue that you fail to address during your eight year tenure as President of the United States of America!

    4. Provide fifty-billion dollars to offer low interest business loans which will allow African-Americans to start new businesses and build wealth in our Community! Black businesses must be capitalized sufficiently to better ensure their success. In past times when business loans have been offered to African-Americans, the lending institutions always seemed to provide just enough capital to ensure our failure. Mr. President, I was in business for over twenty-five years and I had businesses that I generated the start-up capital to operate them, and a couple of businesses that required my wife and me to secure bank loans to start. The ones that I generated the capital to start went well and were sustainable, but the growth margin was very, very limited. The couple of businesses which required bank loans were not sustainable because the banks never provided me the amount of capital that allowed me to even maintain my businesses, let alone grow them. I was always under-capitalized! We want the very same opportunities that other people have! Mr. President, don’t let this be an issue that you fail to address during your eight year tenure as President of the United States of America!

    5. Initiate, develop and implement policies that will end homelessness in the United States of America as we know it! Nobody in the richest, most progressive, most powerful and most benevolent country in the world should go to sleep even one night without a place they may legitimately call home! Nobody! While I recognize that homelessness and hunger are most often connected to unemployment, as well as mental and physical disabilities, I believe, very strongly that these serious social problems will need to be addressed all at once. They must be addressed simultaneously! I have some ideas that will serve to resolve this serious problem!

    a. The need to renovate old houses and structures, and build new housing, will be another source for expanding new employment opportunities, and will be equally important in providing quality housing for indigent Americans who are in need of basic housing. Train and allow these same indigent, homeless Americans to be employed in the building trade industry to help, and assist, in the elimination of their homelessness. Revitalize anti-graffiti programs like the Anti-Graffiti Network that worked so well here in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Have the men earn an honest paycheck by having them remove debris and weeds from vacant city owned properties and lots, and even have them clean privately owned properties and lots, and charge those owners, if property owner aren’t responsible in keeping their properties in an acceptable condition themselves. Mr. President, don’t let this be an issue that you fail to address during your eight year tenure as President of the United States of America!

    6. Initiate, develop and implement a new, far reaching set of policies that will serve to eliminate the stranglehold that white people and the building trades’ labor unions have on the building trade industry! Strictly mandate that all projects that are financed with money from the federal government must hire a certain, real percentage of African-Americans and must also have in place skills training and apprenticeship programs that enroll, train and hire African-Americans who complete those training programs! Train and prepare the people to work as Electricians, Welders, Drywall Finishers, Plumbers, Painters, Floor Installers, Carpet Layers, Cement Finishers and all of the other skilled jobs in the building construction industry. The racist white males will strongly resist as they always have, but this time we must win this extremely important fight for jobs, dignity, upward mobility, and respect! Work or War!

    a. It is most disturbing to go by all of the construction sites in the city, state and country and observe all of these building being constructed and see only white males enjoying the fruits of great-paying jobs and not seeing even one Black person on the job anywhere! That is crazy! Wrong! Unforgettable! Unforgiveable! Sick! Despicable! Our almost four hundred year failure to fight the fights that we must, make us 400 year cowards! These are extremely serious acts of blatant discrimination and these discriminatory practices must be stopped immediately! I recommend that you direct the United States Attorney General Eric Holder to bring suit against these discriminatory practices immediately! These are crimes that aren’t being prosecuted! Mr. President, don’t let this be an issue that you fail to address during your eight year tenure as President of the United States of America!

    7. It is most important that you, Mr. President, end that insane war in Afghanistan sooner than you promised! Bring those American men and women home from Afghanistan sooner than the time schedule that you advanced because the American people, other than the white males, want the service personnel home to enjoy a full life with their full body, their full mind, and ready to help build the country that everybody claim they want to have! The people around the world hate Americans not because of what Americans have, but for all the evil and heinous deeds that Americans have done, and do, all over the world! You have begun to change that perception, and you must not be pushed from that position by the war-mongering, neo-colonialists, racists, white-separatists in this country.

    There also seems to be no legitimate reason to keep the prison at Guantánamo Bay open other than the Republicans’ illegitimate opposition to any and everything you attempt to do. Therefore, you should close the prison at Guantánamo Bay in 2013, and transfer those prisoners housed there to American prisons until such time that we may give them “a speedy trial.” Close the prison at Guantánamo Bay now, Mr. President just as you pledged that you would do when you ran for President the first time in 2008!

    a. Mr. President, we as a country and a government, must more than ever be measured by what we do with our superior technology, outstanding schools, mighty military and great wealth, rather than that we have them! You were right, and you are right, when you chose to engage the world by demonstrating the good and great things we can do in collaboration with, and support of, other nations, rather than flexing our collective muscles around the world showing how tough and powerful we are and scaring and alienating other nations and their people. We stand with you, all the time!

    b. If these few thousand war-mongering, neo-colonialists, racists, white-separatists want to secede from this country, let them leave! Provide them a free, one-way journey to whatever country will accept them. Texas and a few other Southern states of the former Confederacy will turn blue within the next couple of elections cycles-with or without “the separatists!” Mr. President, don’t let this be an issue that you fail to address during your eight year tenure as President of the United States of America!

    8. Keep United States Attorney Eric Holder in his position; and make sure he rejects those racist voter suppression laws in the various states! The ultra-racists in the Congress have tried often and hard to obstruct and discredit everything you have attempted to do! United States Attorney General Eric Holder appears to be doing an outstanding job! I am proud to see that you have defended the Attorney General and retained him in his post! Great! The Attorney General should bring suit against the school districts of the country because of the failure of these school districts to properly educate our African-American children. He should also bring suit against the Building Trades Unions too because of their long-standing discriminatory practices. Require them to establish Apprenticeship Programs that will have African-American recruiters, and require them to train and hire African-Americans who complete those training programs to work as Carpet Layers, Cement Finishers, Electricians, Drywall Finishers, Floor Installers, Painters, Plumbers, Welders, and all of the other skilled jobs in the building construction industry.

    9. Nominate an African-American woman to serve on the Supreme Court, the next time to have the special opportunity to advance a Supreme Court Nominee! Remember, we have a member of the Supreme Court who looks like us, but he is definitely not of us, or one of us! I highly recommend the brilliant former President of Bennett College, Dr. Julienne Malveaux, to be the next person to be nominated to serve on the United States Supreme Court. Dr. Malveaux would make an outstanding Supreme Court Justice. Mr. President, don’t let this be an issue that you fail to address during your eight year tenure as President of the United States of America!
    10. Reparations must be paid to the Descendants of African Slaves because white people brought our Ancestors to this country via the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade! Many white people of this nation have become rich on the backs of the Black people who were brought to this country starting in 1619 in the bowels of ships to serve as slaves. “Reparations for slavery is a proposal that some type of compensation should be provided to the descendants of enslaved people in the United States, in consideration of the coerced and uncompensated labor their ancestors performed over centuries. This compensation has been proposed in a variety of forms, from individual monetary payments to land-based compensation schemes related to independence. The idea remains highly controversial and no broad consensus exists as to how it could be implemented.” Wikipedia
    The United States and The Holocaust of the Enslavement of African People will be linked forever!
    11.Send Agricultural Experts to the continent of Africa and provide the technological, industrial, farming implements, personnel and monetary resources necessary to vastly improve the ability of the African nations to sustain themselves, so that they might rid themselves of the unwanted representations of foreign, colonial rule and political influence! Do something special for the continent of Africa, Mr. President, which the forty-three white Presidents who preceded you didn’t do, would not have done, or would not even think of doing! Provide even more millions of dollars and other important resources to help rid the continent of the scourge of the Aids epidemic. There also needs to be a greater investment of tools to explore long-term sources of clean drinking water, and the delivery of great quantities of medicines and medical supplies in order to hasten the eradication of malaria once and for all. Then send millions of African-Americans to African countries: builders, teachers, doctors, and other medical personnel, social workers, and others to the continent to build new, modern housing, schools, and hospitals and provide the African people the opportunities to bring the countries of Africa to modern times! Mr. President, don’t let this be an issue that you fail to address during your eight year tenure as President of the United States of America!

    12. The Foster Care System is in great need of immediate reform as some policies must be initiated and designed to keep children with their biological families as much as possible! Many families are being torn apart needlessly because the system as it is presently structured often seeks to place children with strangers because even when biological family members are available and willing to accept children, they are financially unprepared to care for them! In order to maintain better family continuity it is imperative that policies are put in place that would mandate that biological families are financially compensated to keep family children until they reach adulthood or the point of independence.

    a. The Foster Care System is poorly run in its present form! In its present form the Foster Care System operates to have children in permanency placement with total strangers rather than reunification with their biological families. Foster parents are regularly ambushed with “emergency placements” of extremely angry, recalcitrant children whose only hope is to be “immediately “back at home with their poor, alcoholic, drug addicted, and oftentimes unfit parents. Sometimes the parents just lost their jobs and the courts took the children because parents simply could no longer care for their children! However, this sometimes happens when the parents’ loss of employment may have been temporary! The children of this extremely flawed system are hostile, unfocused, mean-spirited , angry , extremely dishonest, manipulative, disloyal, totally unappreciative, short-sighted, envious, jealous, untrustworthy, unpredictable, and now more and more incessantly destructive and dangerous. Isn’t this predictable? Wasn’t it predictable?

    b. Foster parents, in this bad system, are simply not permitted to discipline these unhappy, displaced children in the basic, non-abusive manner in which they disciplined their own, great, wonderful and successful children. Foster parents are expected to be miracle workers, although the foster care agency’s staffs almost, always do an extremely poor job of managing these very same children themselves! Furthermore, foster care agencies regularly regard foster parents as little more than “professional baby-sitters!” These children must be placed first with their own biological families, and as an alternative be placed with non-biological parents if biological family members aren’t available, or none will accept this important and special responsibility. We must save these children and provide greater security in maintaining the African-American family unit! I feel most confident that the foster care system will greatly improve overday if serious consideration is given to the kind of reformation that I here recommend! Mr. President, don’t let this be an issue that you fail to address during your eight year tenure as President of the United States of America!

    13. Set up a committee of knowledgeable world leaders who are experts on the subject of world hunger and end world hunger sometimes during your second term! “The fact that almost 870 million people — more than the population of the U.S., Europe, and Canada — are hungry in a world which produces enough for everyone to eat is the biggest scandal of our time,” Oxfam International’s Luca Chinotti said in a statement. It is my belief, Mr. President that you, as President of the United States, could put into place policies and strategies in collaboration with other supporting countries that would work to eliminate world hunger by the end of your second term, if not sooner. This accomplishment would put you squarely on course to become the greatest President in the history of the United States of America. It would greatly expand your legacy in the entire world as an international champion of the people! Mr. President, don’t let this be an issue that you fail to address during your eight year tenure as President of the United States of America!

    14. Mr. President, we need to automatically register all Americans to vote! United States Attorney General Eric Holder has suggested that Federal election officials should register eligible voters automatically and take steps to reduce the long lines Americans encountered in national elections on Nov. 6, 2012. The United States Attorney General became the highest-ranking official to call for voting changes since you expressed exasperation with the hours-long lines during your re-election victory.
    The United States Attorney General said that by coordinating existing databases, the government could register “every eligible voter in America” and ensure that registration did not lapse during a move. He has called improving the system a natural extension of the civil rights movement that in the 1960s eliminated many barricades for black voters. He also said, “Modern technology provides ways to address many of the problems that impede the efficient administration of elections.”
    Holder said the current system was needlessly complex and riddled with mistakes, resulting in 60 million citizens being ineligible to cast a ballot in the 2008 presidential election because they had not filed the right paperwork.
    An overhaul would likely require approval from Congress, a significant obstacle because of the view by many Republicans that easing registration requirements could increase voter fraud. The real and much more provocative reason why Republicans may be averse to easing registration requirements is because it would make it a lot easier for many more millions of Americans to vote. Republicans are far more interested in denying and suppressing the rights of Americans to vote, not being more inclusive by expanding it and making it easier to vote.
    While Attorney General Eric Holder has limited powers to enforce voting protections, you, Mr. President, should be able to issue an Executive Order mandating universal or federal voting registration.
    The racist local governments would no longer be able to call their process a democratic one and then operate a system that discriminates against its citizens! Our governments-local, state and national- all have a constitutional responsibility to provide and facilitate a government of inclusion. This means that the government has a constitutional responsibility to expand the right to vote, not restrict, impede, suppress, or deny it! We must not allow the domestic terrorists the opportunity to continue mistreating American citizens!
    The Attorney stated, “This generation must be true to that more inclusive history. … it is not a time to restrict the franchise.” No, Mr. Attorney General, there has never been a time to restrict the franchise!
    The United States Attorney General also recommended that polling places should have an adequate number of voting machines and be open for additional days, a challenge because The allowance of thousands of local officials to make decisions relative to voting hours and days, and the number of voting machines independently. “We should rethink this whole notion that voting only occurs on Tuesday “Why not have voting on weekends?”

    Mr. President you spotlighted the subject hours after winning a second four-year term. In your victory speech, you told those who waited in long lines to vote, “By the way, we have to fix that.” Mr. President, Fix this serious Un-American, American problem immediately! Actions by white people, and especially white males, to deny and/or suppress the vote are racist and discriminatory policies that are in fact as American as apple pie, the bald eagle and the tattled and blood stained American flag! Mr. President, issue an executive order mandating that Federal election officials should register eligible voters automatically and take steps to reduce the long lines and acute frustrations Americans encounter in national elections.

    Oxfam International is a confederation of 17 organizations working together to find lasting solutions to poverty and injustice.

    United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice has shocked the world by withdrawing her name from consideration to be the next Secretary of State. Rice cites the “lengthy and disruptive” confirmation process as her core reason for stepping down. Her expected nomination was controversial to say the least.
    “If nominated, I am now convinced that the confirmation process would be lengthy, disruptive and costly — to you and to our most pressing national and international priorities,” Rice wrote in a letter to President Barack Obama. “That trade-off is simply not worth it to our country…Therefore, I respectfully request that you no longer consider my candidacy at this time.”
    Mr. President, I am extremely disappointed that you appeared not to support United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice, this highly qualified African-American woman by nominating her to be the next United States Secretary of State. We fully expected you to stand with and by Ambassador Rice and overrule those racist white males in the Congress who opposed and rejected her! We must not continue to allow those white males to demonstrate their white supremacy and win! You are President for only four more years, and will not be running for re-election! You must exert Black Power by getting things done despite opposition and obstructionism from those racists white males in the Congress!
    United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice should be the next Secretary of State of the United States of America! Ambassador Susan Rice would be an outstanding Secretary of State!

    Mr. President, our so-called Democracy may possibly operate better in the United States than it does in any other place in the world, but that is absolutely no consolation and completely unacceptable! Democracy in this country is an extremely flawed system of government! You, Mr. President, have been given a twice in a lifetime opportunity to make the United States of America live up to its amazing and enormous promise! Yes, there should be a re-distribution of this country’s wealth! Isn’t it wrong that 10% of the American rich people own 40% of this country’s wealth? Is it right that in 2013 the rich are still getting richer and the poor getting poorer? There will be no permanent masters, nor any permanent slaves! You, Mr. President, have a mandate to do your part to ensure that there is, in fact, a real re-distribution of this country’s wealth, as there is no telling when we will ever get this level of opportunity again! There may not be a need to have any less rich people, but we absolutely and definitely must have a lot less poor people! This “rich people controlled system” is not sustainable; it must not be sustained!

    Mr. President, you have four (4) more years to make this country, and the world, a much better place for all to live! It is completely unacceptable and too “Democratized and Capitalistic” to continuously allow the rich to take more and more from the middle class and the disadvantaged poor! More and more police will inevitably be needed and prisons built to jail the millions of people that will surely be housed there, but that too at some point in time will be a failing strategy! The people will rise up, but it is my hope that we get resolution to key issues before the uprising comes! Happening later may be too late for many people who cannot afford to wait until later! Then revolution will surely come! It must come in order for the people to have any viable chances of survival! The legendary “Robin Hood Mission” must be applied to this country, and immediately! We must have a more equitable sharing of power or we must design a practical strategy to dismantle this system and form a much more perfect union!

    Revolution in this country is absolutely inevitable because of unreasonable, greedy white males! The word Revolution should not be considered a threatening word! It is, in fact, a great word if it is reflective of the anger a people have experienced over a long period of time and are finally tired of the bad treatment and are now demanding what they should have demanded and received a long time ago! Is it Revolutionary to demand, or require, this country to live up to its promise? However, the actions you, Mr. President, take today may at the very least postpone the Revolution until tomorrow because you too must know that the Revolution is definitely coming, as it must! Aren’t we supposed to be a government (Democracy) of, by, and for the people? Is our government, Mr. President, now a government (Democracy) of, by, and for all of the people?

    I seriously believe that we need a Revolution in this country now! It is inevitable! However, Mr. President, if you will now begin to address the issues that I here advance, we might not need a Revolution today! Somebody said to me a long time ago, in South Carolina that things in this racist country are evolving! It was my position then, and is certainly my position now, that an evolution takes too damn long! As an African-American who has been here at this place in space for a long time now, and knows this country’s legacy of hatred, bigotry and discrimination, I know that we must no longer wait on this evolution; we are now entitled to a Revolution!

    Mr. President, make certain that the Republicans are reminded that despite their multitude of Voter Suppression laws and obstructionist efforts, we won the election of 2012! We expect you to continue to be very strong, and even tough, in matters related to the most important work of the American people! From this point forward, we expect you to act on the mandate that the just held Presidential election dictates! Make everybody else blink from this point forward!

    What is this country trying to do to us as African-American People? What should be the breaking point, Mr. President! At what point should we-African-Americans-seek other means and remedies to achieve our just due as bona-fide citizens of this hate-filled, evil and malicious country? It is my considered position that the point at which African-Americans, and other mistreated citizens, must “declare war on this country” has long since passed! If armed rebellion were practical we certainly would have initiated such armed revolt a long time ago based on the ways we have been savagely beaten and killed just like our lives had no value!

    Then I considered that we must at some point initiate guerilla warfare against this country’s government, but once more this too is an impractical tactic at this point in time. However, the status quo too is completely unacceptable as we will lose our lives, even our very existence if we don’t begin to dramatically reform this grossly unfair Democracy! We, the people, must dismantle this present system as quickly as humanly possible because this system is killing us in all sorts of ways, and on a daily basis! We cannot continue to allow them-the white males who are domestic terrorists-to continue to keep us in a place they call ours! Our place must once and for all be any place in this country, and the world, that any other American citizen has a right to be!

    Mr. President, you must keep yourself safe! Have more African-Americans to protect you! Always remember that these dangerous white people are the direct descendants of the very ones who killed Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Medgar Evers, Emmitt Till, and those four little Black girls in Birmingham, Alabama. Remember too, Mr. President, these very same descendants of assassins and murderers also assassinated Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy! These people were all assassinated or killed because they represented the best of this country; they often represented the hopes and dreams of a new, progressive and a more just America! Their murderers acted to maintain the racist and unjust society that suited them-the status quo!

    The white male members of the Congress are committed to white supremacy and are always on the mission of obstructionism as it relates to any idea you may advance no matter how noble, righteous or good. These white males will therefore do everything in their power to prevent you from exercising any semblance of power that has their participation. They are determined to demonstrate white supremacy, and you as our African-American President must demonstrate to them and the world what Black Power can be!

    There must begin to be a much greater challenge to white supremacy, lest we get wiped out, or greatly decimated, within the next three to four decades! Just remember what they did to the indigenous people, the Native Americans, the American Indians! We must not let that happen to us; you must use the great power of your office to ensure that it does not happen! Money, land, real estate, high public office and the courts equals power and influence, and we as a people have almost no power! However, Mr. President, in you we have the best opportunity ever to gain that elusive power, and you must be the catalyst that serves to begin to change the acute imbalance of power! We must come to a point of existence when it is we who can determine whether our people are arrested or not, and whether they go prison or not! We must have power now!

    I will commit the rest of my life to making sure that we don’t allow ourselves to be the passive and cowardly victims of another holocaust in this hateful country by failing to defend ourselves and our very limited resources and interests! We cannot allow the white people, and especially the white males, of this most racist country to reduce us again to institutional slavery because based on my knowledge of His Story (history) this mentally deranged white male is without conscience, without any sense of propriety or remorse. There is no limit to his evil ways! He is capable of killing and destroying anything, everything and everybody in his path in order to reach a predetermined mission, no matter how reckless, wrong or heinous! We need power in order to stop this white male! Mr. President, don’t let these be issues that you fail to address during your eight-year tenure as President of the United States of America!

    Mr. President, this coexistence of acquiescence is not working, has not worked, and never will work! These white people, and especially the white male people, have been our long term, traditional, natural enemies and we must accept that reality and design, develop, and implement strategies to defeat them! This is an undeflectable, unavoidable war that must be fought, and we must fight it!

    Mr. President, if you are not doing so already, I highly recommend that you issue more Executive Orders than all of the other forty –three (43) white male Presidents of the United States combined, because we have a lot of catching up to do!!!!!!!!!!

    For the record, Obama had a majority in the Senate and the House for his first two years. Therefore, he could have passed any legislation that he chose fit, but he passed no legislation that was beneficial to blacks.       OBAMA did an executive order to grant temporary citizenship to certain illegal children so why can’t he do the same for unemployment. All he has to do is hold these employers accountable for not hiring legal American citizens and stop the handouts to people who are not in this country legally. If illegals are so talented then they should be able to build up their own country without coming here running up the deficit with their lies and scams. They have leaders obviously know more than the leaders we have because they are getting things done! If you have some solutions write the President a letter, he says he reads them.     I have to wonder if our leadership is turning the black population into a group of victims. First of all the black man is the most unwanted on the face of the earth. When Obama took over, the entire country was in free fall. When things are bad in the country, it doubles and triples for black males. Year’s ago, the man said “yall’s free Na.” What did we do? Put ourselves in a chemically induced brand of slavery, pcp, weed, alcohol,cain,heroin. Then we pick up guns and turn them on one another because other neighborhoods will not tolorate that behavior. The problem is in our homes and communities. In our communities, we know who is slinging, packing, robbing and baby making. “Watch this,” “Stop snitching” If I were to miss one day of algebra, I was lost, some of these cats miss years and then get mad. I ain’t got nothing, therefore, I am taking yours. These people and attitudes evolve from somewere, yep the homes of black people. If Martin Luther King could not save all black people, how in the hell is Obama going to rescue you. They are calling him a monkey, liar, comunist and threatening his life on a daily basis. Leadership and community leaders need to start in the communities.

      I agree. Unfortunately, we don’t seem to have leaders who present an ORGANIZED agenda. In fact, I doubt that we trust any of them not to become self-serving. Why is it that the LGBT, Latino and any other agenda goes ahead of the black agenda. First of all, we don’t have an agenda. We talk vaguely about unemployment among blacks. If grants are given for training, the next thing you have to listen for is indictments for corruption because the “cause” quickly becomes leasing a Mercedes, buying that half million dollar home, marrying on Maui, etc. I live outside of Atlanta, and I just had to hear on the news that our county CEO’s (black, suave, sophisticated, lawyer, etc.) home was just raided with search warrants for suspicion of corruption, etc. Ironically, his campaign manager was the same manager for our mayor who went to federal prison for the same things and had the same training and attributes.

      We are a leaderless people and don’t make demands. Why should anyone listen to us? Blacks want to know why they should get an NAACP membership. What do they do other than host the Image Awards? What are we going to do? Now I hear that Latinos are responsible for President Obama’s re-election. They are at the table, and we’ll probably give up our seats – not scoot over.

      We have to clean up our neighborhoods. President Obama can’t stop the violence in our neighborhoods. We tolerate it! We know who’s committing the crimes. Young black men in ATL who opened urban wear stores had to close because they were robbed so much. That’s on us. Multi-millionaires here in the crony system were again granted “minority status” for bids, and the young brother tried to get started can’t catch a break. We’re our own worse enemies.

      Now, what should be our strategy?

      I totally agree. All of these people blaming the President for the state of Black America should take a good hard and long look in the mirror. Until we start taking responsibility and helping ourselves nobody else is. You can bitch, moan, complain and whine but things aren’t going to get better for us unless we make it better. Blacks are rapidly becoming the forgotten people in America and it’s our own fault because of people like Boyce Watkins, Cornel West, Wilbur Leon and Tavis Smiley leading the charge of blaming everybody and everything; especially the President for where we are in America.

        I have looked in the mirror and, sorry to disappoint you, but I like what I see. Perhaps, you should offer the same advice to our “Messiah-in-Chief” to see if HE likes what he sees!!!!

        However, since narcissists generally hold an inflated sense of self, I am sure that he will like his image from his “Gilded Throne” at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, just fine.

        I have read many of these comments and, frankly, I am perplexed by all the lamenting in the form of “buyer’s remorse” when it comes to this president. Why not do the hard work and do the research in advance before you make the purchase or, in this case, cast your votes a second time for a man that was hardly a great or even a good president to begin with.

        Did any of you see the dismal economic numbers on all fronts under this man’s watch or were many of you just content to play the “Blame Bush” CD on repeat over and over again.

        Now, what exactly is the problem? Obama’s inauguration is barely a few weeks old and you expected….. what? What exactly did you expect? That he would magically start remembering his massive black “fan base of humble servants” and would immediately begin to start advocating for us right out of the starting gate?

        Well, I wouldn’t hold my breath, if I were any of you. My sister-in-law and her husband once again came to see the “historical pageantry” of Mr. Obama and even my brother-in-law who acts as if he has a personal connection to Obama’s ear, was not quite as excited about the speech and seemed a bit leery. Now granted, there was no criticism of his “Hero-in-Chief” but I sensed a little trepidation on his part because of the content and tone of Obama’s speech especially on his reference to gays (historic enough, for you?).

        I wanted to ask him if he was in a coma during the last four years and somehow missed the “Obama-Gay love affair” as he did not defend DOMA and flip flopped on gay marriage or was it finally “came out of the closet” and presented his real views, he dismantled DADT, he promulgated a strong gay policy domestically and overseas and even tied our continued largess to African nations in the form of “gay nation building” in pro-traditional and conservative countries in that region of the world. He has gays all over the white house running things and on the “down low” in cabinet and SCOTUS positions and crafting his increasingly more leftist, radical agenda. And, just like with the LGBT community, he seems to have another, public “love affair” with immigrants of all stripes.

        Yet, many black people defend this man when their worlds are crumbling around them with no jobs, disappearing wealth and status and many other crises that, somehow, the “First Black President” is not suppose to or expected to address but all the others were?

        That kind of inane thinking is absolutely incredulous and speaks volumes as to what many of us think of ourselves: obviously not a community WORTHY ENOUGH to have our needs addressed or met by a man who has received over 90% of our votes in two presidential elections for little to nothing in return!! Symbolism means absolutely zero when your pockets are empty, there is no roof over your head or food on the table!!!!!

        For the sake of our country, I hope that President Obama does better this time around because he asked for a second chance and the American people of a “rainbow coalition” gave it to him. If he goes down, so will we.

        But, I fear that after four more years, we will either be a de facto socialist country or close to it with over 20 trillion dollars in debt, 20-30 more illegal and legal immigrants inundating this country, stagnant job growth and massive unemployment with prices going through the roof and, entitlement programs overwhelming our already strained social and financial systems and once again, the poor and disenfranchised (to include many blacks) will be suffering exponentially.

        I wonder what they will see when they look into the mirror? Will they be quick to blame themselves when many have been working hard to make ends meet or will they finally get it and understand that no man’s an island and sometimes even the most self-sufficient needs a lifeline and a president dedicated to his plight.

        Sadly, it just might be too late to matter.

      He can give assistance to every other ethnic groups, and Afrikan Americans are not able to ask him for help, becuase of his skin color. Every other president that that has the same skin color of the rich gave them all they wanted and did not care that he help the people with the same hue. When we had a few presidents that are democratics, when they would throw the poor of the same skin color then we Afrikan Americans got a chance to get some crumbs not with Obama I have serveral members of my family and this will be their 5th year without a job. No job training assistance just out here and yet he can stand, and say his first prioty is to get immigrants law change.

        iT IS OBVIOUS FROM THE CRITICS OF THIS PRESIDENT THAT THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS STUFF WORKS. When did we start having a dictator who could just pass legislation on his own. As AFrican Americans we share the blame as to our plight. The NAACP, Urban League, etc., could invest in our schools so our children can be taught knowledge of self, instead of the “thousands” spent on awards and events in hollywood. We have our priorities in the wrong place – material gains. We, as a people, need to DEMAND more of ourselves FOR EACH OTHER. President Obama is just on one man going up against institutionalized racism. One lady put a laundry list of “stuff” that needs to be attended to in our community and will take YEARS with the help and focus of our own people. WE are letting our sons and daughters DIE on the streets of these cities. WE are letting our sons and daughters go to dilapidated schools with inferior cirriculum and resources; WE are letting them go and remain “UNPREPARED” for the jobs that are out there. They can’t compete. WE allow our representatives to hold parties, ingratiate themselves with self serving awards and honors and salaries. Obama is just one man in a VERY DIFFICULT POSITION. WE, the African American PEOPLE, must become much more involoved in our communities in order to effectuate change. WE, are the solution to many of our problems.

    THE DECLINE OF AFRICAN-AMERICANS IN AMERICA DID NOT BEGIN WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA. IT BEGAN IN THE LATE 1980S WHEN WE DITCHED SCHOOL, EMBRACED THE THUG LIFE AND EVERY FAD ASSOCIATED WITH IT ESPECIALLY JAIL. WE SHUN GOD, FAMILY AND OUR CHILDREN(CHILDREN HAVE BABY DADDY’S AND NO FATHERS). WE ARE THE WORSE CONSUMERS, WE OWN NOTHING BUT A CAR AND WE SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS TYPE OF LIFE…THESE ARE THE PROBLEMS, NOW LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND START WITH YOU TO CORRECT THE PROBLEMS.       I agree with Elizabeth. President Obama is a black man who is the preseident of the United States. He is not the black preseident. I do not agree with everything that he does but our criticism must be fair. Look at the streets. Young brothers would rather hustle than learn a trade or go to school. They are about fast money and a good time. Many of the Mexicans who come here are about making it. They have in tact families and a strong work ethic. In ten years blacks will be working for Mexicans. Baby Daddy crap is killing black folks. Look at Chicago , boys without fathers are killing other fatherless boys. Obama cannot fix that. Black people need to wake up. Getting locked up is not cool. Having a bunch of Baby Mamas is not cool either. While we are having a good time playing the fool others are working.

      I am tired of the groundless cricism of Obama that comes from this site. I do not like the income levels that Obama considers to constitute a wealthy individual. I think that assts should be included and the number is too low. The present tax scheme makes it difficult for me to grow and maintain wealth.

      What does Dr. Boyce Watkins want, more hand outs for blacks. He needs to stop being a hater and come up with some sensible solutions. As a people we are poorly trained and educated. The present recession hit unskilled workers the hardest. That is most of us.We need to get better educated.

      Did Dr. Boyce Watkins want Romney to win? Too much talking and too little doing, here.

      President Obama was voted for a 2nd Term due to the ignorant of people thinking he was going to make a different in the African American Communities. He simply stated his 1st priority was with immigration. He need to be concern with Compton, California where Hispanic gangs are attempting to “run” African Americans out of their own community. A community that was basically predominantly African Americans, but now the population is 66% Hispanic. It is so sad when people of another nationality come to this county and learn racism towards people who are so open to all if not most people of “all races. My take to this: People who want to take over communities from other countries need to go back to their own country and do whatever the heck they want to do in thier own country. Black people, take a stand. We been running too long. Fight for what belongs to you.

      Let me preface, by saying I’ve always respected the NAACP, Ben Jealous, his staff, and their support of our POTUS. However, The NAACP needs to clean house before commenting on Obama’s affect on unemmployment. This can happen without a major debacle, scandal, or leadership changes within the NAACP. All it takes commitment from the current leadership and staff to bring the NAACP to its fullest potential so it can serve us the way it was intended to, or else it will become another relic of history, like every other non relevant organization.

      Main problem is our community is stuck in selling outside ourselves, from entertainment to retail. The church and a multitude of groups including the NAACP get caught up in the glamor of smoozing with the rich and famous, forgetting til the last minute that we need their support. I strongly feel that the current NAACP are a part of this problem, where they talk the talk but don’t do the walk. You can march all you want, but if your organization is littered with people collecting paychecks and watching reality shows, what does that say? One such person is the head of the NAACP’s Criminal Justice, middle-aged over the hill Dr. Niaz Kasravi, who’s pined after this womanizing fat Ben Jealous since she left Amnesty, and also spends her NAACP time pining after a reality ex womanizing boyfriend from Shahs of Sunset. Pathetic, straight up for her and for us (it doesn’t serve our needs, does it). She’s has no interest in African Americans whatsoever. Only interest appears to be dealing with mid-life crisis through uninterested ex boyfriends. Not only that, known to inside circles, it’s a fact Mr. Jealous had a long term affair (while he was married) with another middle aged married Iranian woman who metup with him in the Bay Area several years ago when he was supposed to be working on a greater cause. My perception is this will continue on , even at the upcoming NAACP Awards show when our attention needs to be on current issues, not trying to bed every star, journalist, and intern. We need leaders who care, not leaders who talk about caring. Troy Davis might’ve been pardon had the NAACP been on its toes, but that’s not where it’s priorities are. It waits too late, like most mainstream African American entities, to “reach out.” That’s why so many of us have lost faith in the so-called networks where social mobility and feel-good antics get put ahead of community needs.

    African Americans complain about President Obama’s positive response to the problems of women, Hispanics, and GLBT. If asked, I believe these same complainers could quickly and clearly state what these groups have asked from the President, in an organized way. Can they do the same for Blacks? What have we asked for IN AN ORGANIZED WAY? What has the NAACP joined with other black organizations and groups to ask for IN AN ORGANIZED WAY. They have expected President Obama to respond automatically to their needs, like a good parent who is so sensitive to his or her child that the child doesn’t need to be able to articulate his own problems or ask for specific help. When during the President’s first term did blacks organize and say, “President Obama, this is what we need from you”? No. We are expecting him to be a Good Daddy who knows what we need before we do. What we need to do first of all is to grow up.

    So the saga continues. African Americans didn’t keep up with the changing tides of the work force and now it’s coming to fruition. Rather than putting their noses to the grindstones and getting an education and job training at all costs, we refused to acknowledge that industrial jobs were quickly becoming a thing of the past. We wanted to bank on what we were familiar with and failed to keep up with the times. Now, continue to tell yourselves that it’s the responsibility of the president or some special lobbying group to create jobs for the African American community and see where that lands you in 5 years. Until people start to own up to their own shortcomings and nearsightedness and develop a plan to succeed, things will get worse. You don’t have to buy it, but you better brace yourselves for a mighty hard fall.

      African Americans did keep up with the changing workforce. What black people didn’t understand and still don’t there are movements every minute of the day since slavery to undermine and hurt you.

      When you have a large number of black people with degrees from PHD to Bachelors who can’t find jobs who are homeless you have a real problem. This is what is going on here.

      This is economic warfare and black people have under estimated their enemy.

      Black people have also failed to remember that many blacks had to work for themselves in orde to make it, you had better do the same. If you got a degree, go and get a trade as well because they are not letting you into the jobs like everyone else. Learn to bob and weave when your enemy is trying to trip you up.

      Get on your knees and pray for God to even the score. There is someone higher then those that opress you.

      No disrespect, but what you are saying is not entirely true and it is biased. First, many black people have kept up with the “changing tide” and went to college, but are still unemployed. The market in many fields are extremely saturated. Jobs are just not there. Second, going to college in the old sense is becoming outdated. It does not guarantee a job or a career. Hence, we have many college educated people doing work that does not require a college education. Third, all races, including white people, are asking for help with unemployment and they are not offering a particular game plan do deal with their unemployment. So lets not be so quick to have a negative judgement of black people for doing the same. Finally, the people in this country are not the policy makers. They are not the ones who have advisers of all types and billions of dollars at their disposal but government does. What they can do is let the government know their issues, which are mass incarceration, unemployment, inadequate education, and poverty. Then the government can create policies to deal with such things. This is how it is supposed to be, but black people are being ignored.
