Video: Lupe Fiasco Kicked Off Stage During Obama Inauguration Celebration Concert

Everyone who knows anything about Lupe Fiasco knows that he’s never been a supporter of President Obama, but some say his lupe-fiasco-featuredcriticism of Obama went too far at a concert on Sunday, where the rapper insulted Obama while on stage.

Lupe Fiasco was scheduled to perform as headliner for the StartUp RockOn concert in celebration of President Obama’s second inauguration, but the anti-war hip hop artist apparently had other plans.

Instead of celebrating Obama’s victory, Lupe apparently used the event to protest Obama and his policies.  After taking the stage at The Hamilton in Washington, the rapper reportedly announced that he didn’t vote for the president in the 2012 election and spent more than 30 minutes performing an anti-war song.

Regardless of how the rapper feels about Obama, 30 minutes of the same song is enough to annoy any party-goer.

Reporter Josh Rogin live tweeted the odd concert:

So Lupe played one anti-war song for 30 min and said he didn’t vote for Obama and eventually was told to move on to the next song.

Lupe refused to move to the next song so a team of security guards came on stage and told him to go.

Previously, during a 2011 interview with CBS, Lupe Fiasco called Obama a terrorist, saying, “In my fight against terrorism, to me, the biggest terrorist is Obama, in the United States of America. For me, I’m trying to fight the terrorism that’s actually causing the other forms of terrorism. The root causes of the terrorism is the stuff that the U.S. government allows to happen and the foreign policies that we have in place in different countries that inspire people to become terrorists. And it’s easy for us because it’s really just some oil, which we can really get on our own.”

So we’re curious as to who would think inviting Lupe Fiasco to an Obama inaugural event would be a good idea? What do you think? Did Lupe take it too far this time?

very simple Lupe was suffering from the Romney syndrome ! DISRESPECTFUL …. As a American we all have the right to voice an opinion but that was not time nor the place for that to express you hatred for the president. My question is Lupe is did you feel the same about bush when he was in the office? .. Because he is the MAIN reason we are still suffering from hell he put us through from his terms in office.Obama is not a perfect man but he is the most caring and fast thinking president we have ever had ..(Bill was awesome too)if Obama could save the world he would but people need to realize he is only the face of the white house . He tries his best to fix things but He is not the only one thats making decisions. people need to do their research and learn how the government makes their decisions.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but since Lupe is such a
a activist why not fight terrorism on the streets of the good old U
USA!!!! We’re always so quick to fight terrorism in other countries but we forget about the war raging right in our communties.

I think he could have gotten his point across in a better way bu

Why is it necessary, in any situation or circumstance, for one black man to cut down another? It just pains me to see this amongst black people. There truly isn’t anything any of us can do to gain the respect of the other. I’m sure if we looked at each of these men’s lives under a microscope we would see some flaw. But why is it necessary to look beyond all the positive each does, and just focus on the negative.

Honestly. And I say this with pause because I am a true fan of Lupe, but he needs to ride the wave to fame on someone else’s back and not his own brother.

Funny, there are a lot of comments on both sides of this issue and both sides have good points. But riddle me this……… Why did Lupe EVEN ACCEPT an invitation to perform at the celebration of a man he hates???? Would he have accepted an invite from Romney, the Klu Klux Klan or Neo Nazi orgs just to sing this “war song” on stage??? Probably not. So why accept this time? Either it is because he puts getting a check above everything, including his principles or he feels it’s easier to shit on another person that looks black. And if either is true then what does that say about him??? Just a thought………

@Danielle Rose Adams McMorris.. I believe you as well as many others use the term Americans very loosely and incorrectly.. It would better serve the argument if we spoke in specifics. I as an American has never sold arms/guns/weapons to anybody. The corporations that do are inabled by the politicians.. Not Americans!! Not America!! But men that operate under the banner of America for protection in their dealings.. The weakness in any attempt to solve a problem is to identify it’s individual aspects or components.. Not just to generalize and catagorize the problem as an office..ie.. The President..No matter which party is at the head of the table..

The little Bastard and his little Bastard followers need to have some respect. If I were at the concert I would have thrown something very hard at his head. A little success and I mean little, has gone to his head. He and his fans who think of themselves as intellectuals need to stop reeding for a minute and live life. You’re to young to think you know it all. I’ll hear for Lupe in a few years after he’s finished smelling his own shit and see what he has to say then!

@Shine–your points are excellent. Of course, you know they will fall on the deaf ears of most of us. But years down the road when the TRUE nature of Obama is exposed, we’ll see how many black people cry they didn’t know. No, they don’t want to know, there are plenty of us who are saying the truth, but they don’t want to hear it. And just to be clear when Dumbya was in office and waging unjust wars I was just as angry and vocal then as I am now, I’m not fooled or blinded by Obama’s color, I’m looking at his deeds. And there isn’t an ounce of difference betwn Obama and Dumbya. If that’s what black people have been fighting for all these years, then carry on..but I don’t believe our ancestors fought for the right to go around the globe oppressing others in the name of white supremacy b/c that’s all that’s happening.

Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of quite a bit of Lupe’s work, but I would not invite him to an Obama party. The fact remains that Lupe is having a problem, as with many intellectual African Americans, understanding the perpetuation of ignorance within media and the unwillingness to combat it. I do not agree with President Obama on all his policies, however instead of battling the first Black president in such a manner, why not use the connection to build some community focused programs and policies or getting some Black politicians.

Seriously?? Would he be so vocal if this was another president? I hope he is taking his money and putting it towards his cause. Put up or shut up. And also I need him to talk about every terrorist and every killing machine not just the one he knows won’t get his head cut off

I commend Lupe for doing what he did. I’m glad somebody has the intestinal fortitude to speak truth to power in the public eye. The brother is right. As you can clearly see on this website there is an article talking about the West gearing up for a decades long war in Africa against “terrorism”. Where’s your Nobel Peace Prize Mr. President? Probably on your desk right next to your kill list and your drone warfare remote control.

Africa is full of resources that these corporate bastards have been raping from the land. This imperialist country, along with it’s European allies, creates confusion in the motherland and other resource filled nations by overthrowing rulers who do not comply to corporate capitalist demands, installing favorable dictators, supplying them with aid and weapons, looking the other way when genocide in those lands are commited at the hands of a corporate chosen dictator, and this is the good part, when they finish with the dumb bastard, they go on a propaganda campaign to wage war against him and install a new one. The same freaking cycle over and over.

This country supplies nations with aid and weapons and later on down through the years, when they get tired of their chosen dictator, they wage war against them and further destroy the people and the land. They will also support surrounding countries with aid and weapons to destroy other countries (the Congo and many others throughout history). And these imperialist bastards look the other way.

I was watching some of the BET and TV ONE coverage of the inauguration today and the “negroids” (to borrow from Derrick) on there were just oozing over this imposter. They totally loved the beautiful lies coming from his mouth. They find nothing objectionable with this guy. Nothing. There is something fundamentally wrong with that. It goes to show that those “negroids” are doing their corporate master’s bidding. Whenever they talked of black issues they would always sidestep the issues with some sh8tty answers. One of our “black elites” was so proud that Barak W. Bush was the first president to mention the word “gay” in his inaugural speech. Seriously! These elite blacks are focused more on the struggles of everybody else except there own people whom they look like. I just had to turn my tv off before my head exploded because I knew, before I turned to those channels, the type of fawning that was going to happen.

    These people are useless.

Once again, I commend Lupe for his stance on this issue.

Whoever booked Lupe to perform should have expected this from Lupe. Booking Lupe to perform in celebration of Obama’s re-election was an oxy-moron, and was in poor taste.
