Sunday School teacher Johnny Lee Butts was intentionally run over by white teens who had been drinking and smoking marijuana all 
night. Every morning at around 7:00 AM, Butts would take a 4 mile walk, but on this particular morning, when a white teen driver spotted the older black man walking, the teen ran right over Butts.
In statements to police and also in statements given to a grand jury, all obtained exclusively by CNN, the two teenagers, a then-15-year-old and 18-year-old Tony Hopper Jr., described what happened next.
“We see a walker on the side of the road. The complete left side of the road while we are on the complete right side of the road,” the unidentified teen told a police lieutenant. “And I pointed out to say, ‘watch out there is a walker there…’”
The unnamed teen continued his story: “Whit slightly turns the steering wheel and I saw him. ‘Watch out, don’t do nothing stupid’ and then he just keep turning the steering wheel and eventually before we knew it he ran him straight over.”
“He didn’t slow down,” Hopper said in a statement to a deputy sheriff.
The deputy asked: “He never hit his brakes?” Hopper replied: “No sir.”
“Do you think he hit him on purpose?” asked the deputy.
“Yes, sir, I do,” said Hopper.
The teen in the backseat says he could clearly see that the person walking on the side of the road was a black man, although the passenger says he could not tell what race the man was. Police have refused to charge anyone with a hate crime in this case because they say they have no evidence that the crime was based on race.
Donny Butts, the son of the victim, says the white teens knew his father was black.
“They knew he was black,” said Donny Butts. “And that’s the only reason they ran him over because he was black. Point blank.”
The Butts family has been receiving death threats since this incident has become public.

@ Lisa Toomey. I beg to differ. Usually federal cases are over with much faster than the municipal courts. Why? Because the federal courts have the big money from government behind them. Usually when a federal case comes to court, guilt of the defendant is a forgone conclusion. And yes I know of quite a few people who had federal cases, over in a flash and the defendant guilty. Municipal cases can drag on. No one is reacting emotionally, just common sense.

No one knows what might happen to that white youth or his loved ones later in life. I do know that you reap what you sow. In the Bible Jesus says He will “visit the iniquities of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, and show mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.”

Hate Crime: Was Jesus Christ Black? Are Blacks being punished because they are the Chosen people? Mississippi working with Hate, hate, hate, especially since they hate blacks so much.

A kinky curly hair and a darker tone would be more likely. this does not mean that he was black nor does it mean that he was white. It means that he was the son of GOD born in Africa the northern regions but still Africa. “his hair was white like wool”, you have to think how does the word white represent purity and black represents wickedness. His hair was described as white because it represented time and wisdom.
Also though many are hesitant to out right say Jesus is black, he was born is a region where there are people of colour (may it be of middle eastern appearance or Ethiopian). Jesus was a man of colour. And you can still worship him regardless of race, but don’t be gullible to believe Jesus is white with blue hair and brown/blonde eyes in the middle of a desert.
SO QUESTION AGAIN WAS, DO WHITE FOLKS HATE BLACKS BECAUSE THEY JUST MIGHT KNOW BLACKS ARE THE CHOSEN PEOPLE? WHITES ARE FROM THE COLD NORTH AND DEMONS, DEVILS, ALWAYS TRYING TO DESTROY WHAT THEY CAN NOT CHANGE. IS THIS A HATE STATEMENT. NO IT ISN’T. IT’S A STATEMENT WE HAVE ASKED OURSELVES FOR EVER BUT AFRAID TO POST. BLACKS ARE FROM AFRICA…BROUGHT TO AMERICA.

I didn’t know that most dark skin people have red eyes, however, what does your reply have to do with a teenager running over a man walking on the side of a two highway in Mississippi. You just rewrote the book of Revelations, are you all right.

Judgement Day? Things like this makes me question so many things in the Bible. I have to really pray and ask the Lord to calm me down. There is so much wrong and the white man is the one who re=written the Bible. Is God Black? Is this why the white people hate us? I have no idea but one day we will know when Christ return. Will the whites get to heaven and blacks go to jail I mean h**l? No I don’t think so. God is a Just Judge.

Don’t just run your mouth, consider where this happened: Panola County Mississippi, Population 35,000 people, 28% live below poverty, 49% are black, 1.6 % are Hispanic, 52% are women, 26% are under 18 yrs., there are 2,000 reported businesses, non-whites own less then 100, blacks own none, the middle class make $2900 per month, median home value is $78,000. There is at least one black sheriff in a command position. The Sheriff, District Attorney and 5 County Supervisors are elected. The Sheriff made a threat against a CNN news investigator. Where is Cornell West and Tavis Smiley, or the Southern Poverty Law Group.

People appear not to think of their consequences when they do something STUPID. This is truly a hate crime and it is sad that this man or any uman being had to be involved with the stupidity of this young boy who now wants to play dumb.
