GOP Lawmaker Suggests Latinos are Too Uneducated to Support Republican Policies

President Obama promised immigration activists that reforming America’s broken immigration policy would be one of his highest priorities during his second term, and it looks like he Barlettaintends to follow through on that promise. Republican senators are now working on a compromise and some, like John McCain, believe that enacting comprehensive immigration reform will help them win the Hispanic vote in the next presidential election.

But as usual, the establishment GOP is being upended by legislators on the far right, who have no desire to see comprehensive immigration reform come to pass.  One such Republican is Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA), who doesn’t believe there is any chance for the GOP to win over the Latino vote:

    White stupidity never ceases to amaze me. Latinos are a group demographic and political force, in this country and this lawmaker chooses to make a statement like that? Even people he considers uneducated can vote. Last I heard, that’s exactly what the Republican party needs: more votes!
