College Football Recruit Alex Collins Says He Couldn’t Commit to Arkansas Because His Mom Stole His Paperwork

In one of the strangest stories of football’s National Signing Day, recruit Alex Collins says he has been unable to commit to his school ofalex-collins choice, Arkansas, because his mother stole his paperwork.

Collins’ mother reportedly swiped his letter of intent because she does not want him to leave the state. They are looking for her and the paperwork she stole.

ESPN (via SB Nation) reports:

“The papers are not there. I’ve been told by two different sources that Alex Collins’ mom confiscated the papers and took off and ran with them. They are looking for her currently. From what I understand, Alex is not at the school right now, he is looking for his mom. She was quite torn up about him leaving.”

Collins, who is from Florida, was originally considering Miami, but later changed his mind and chose Arkansas. Apparently his mother wasn’t happy with the change of heart and took it upon herself to steal her son’s letter of intent and make a fast getaway.

Collins verbally committed to Arkansas on Monday, and plans to turn in his letter of intent as soon as he finds his mom. However, some news outlets are reporting that Collins is now reconsidering his decision to attend Arkansas

He is ranked as the 57th best high school player in the country.

That’s a selfish woman. We have to let our children grow and let our boys become men. We have enough uneducated black men and he wants an education. She should be ashamed. Get your own life mama.

This is a mess, the mother should be very proud of her son. She will miss him, however it is going to be OK. Where ever she is, she can support her son when he goes to Arkansas.

My mother wanted to go the college that was in her community. I politely told her that I want to enroll in another college and I did. She got over it and was very proud of me.

    Mom is the word…..
We don’t know the circumstance, if Arkansas was his only option that would be one thing, maybe mom is weighing all the options. If something happens she able to go from Florida to Arkansas at a moments notice.
Alex, there’s a saying “grow where you’re planted if you’re watered you will thrive” and there’s no bettering than the love and support of family and friends.

Cut the purse strings.. if this was simply a case of mom knows best, she would have handled it differently. Sometimes as mothers we love selfishly and that’s not good for a grown child. Especially a child
