Dr. Boyce: Perhaps Black People Should Stop Expecting Equality

equalityby Dr. Boyce Watkins

If you’re black and heartily supported President Barack Obama’s bid for re-election, I have some news for you.  Barack Obama is NOT your president and you are not meant to get much of anything for your vote.  He’s not the president of black America, so the fact that you would expect your president to do anything to reciprocate his receiving more black votes than any president in history makes you clearly delusional.

From what I am gathering based on comments that defend the lack of action by the Obama Administration on the black unemployment and incarceration crises, the facts are plain:  Black people are not supposed to ask President Obama for anything.  Only whites, Jews, gays, women, labor groups and illegal immigrants are allowed to expect anything from the president.  Your job as an African American is to vote for him and shut up.

The bottom line that you people need to understand is a term called “accountability.”  If you were accountable for all of your babies’ mamas, lack of educational interest and wasting your money, you wouldn’t be in the mess you’re in today. Accountability needs to applied to all of you people, but that term must NEVER be used toward the president.  He’s not accountable to anyone and certainly not to you.

When you think about it, it all makes sense:  Black people built this nation with slave labor so that other people could benefit from our work.  We built homes in which we were not allowed to live, we built wealth that we were never allowed to possess, and we even allowed white men to use black women to give birth to their light-skinned babies.  So, it only seems logical that, in a nation with a 400-year tradition of using black people for the benefits of others, we are convinced to use our votes to push forward the gay and immigrant agendas, while expecting no attention to be paid to our own.

Some would say that President Obama could use the power of the pardon to help the tens of thousands of men and women who are incarcerated for petty drug possession, which he admitted was unfair years ago.  But that would be helping criminals, which is entirely different from helping fight for the rights of illegal aliens.  After all, being black and breaking arbitrary laws is not the same as being Hispanic and breaking arbitrary laws, we should all know that.

Oh yeah, whatever your pastor has been telling you about gay marriage for the last 20 years, you need to go ahead and erase all that.  There is no such thing as freedom of religion or expression and even saying that you disagree with gay marriage automatically makes you into a homophobe, the Obama Administration told me so.  In fact, gay is the new black and fighting for gay rights is far more interesting and beneficial than fighting for the rights of black people any day of the week.  Being black is no longer fashionable, so you might want to try becoming something else.

So, for those who are hoping that the Obama Administration will put forth even a mild mention of the black unemployment epidemic, you should realize the truth:  You people can’t get jobs because you’re lazy and don’t want to work.  When a white man can’t get a job, it’s not his fault, since he is clearly harder working and more qualified than you are.  That’s why the Obama Administration responds directly when whites complain about 7 percent unemployment, but ignores you lazy negroes when you complain about 14 percent unemployment.  If you would learn to work as hard as white men, you wouldn’t have this problem.

Here’s a final point and this one is important: When white kids in the suburbs get s**t, this is different from black children being s**t in urban neighborhoods.  In the first case, the kids are truly innocent, have bright futures and don’t deserve to die.  In the latter case, kids die because they were raised by single mothers who don’t love their children, and it’s not as if they are going to amount to much of anything anyway.  If inner city mothers didn’t want their kids to be killed, they wouldn’t have chosen to live next door to gang bangers.

So, I’m finally getting the point.  I was once naïve enough to believe that every American was worthy of respect from our politicians, without regard to race.  I also thought that since Obama could never have been elected without unprecedented black support, the administration might put us on the priority list along with other groups (not at the front of the list, of course, since that would imply that black people are as important as everyone else.  The good Lawud knows I would never ask for such a thing, I knows my place).  I even had the audacity to believe that when our children are s**t, or when our fathers/mothers are given 30 year prison sentences for petty crimes, a black politician might at least act like he gives a d@mn.  But now I realize that I was wrong and I’ll probably gain a lot of friends because of it.

Perhaps it’s time to k**l Dr. King’s dream of equality, he probably would have been a hater too.

I don,t know man it seems to me that Dr Boyce Watkins seems to be making a career at bashing the Obama administration. If this is how he feels, then what is the solution? are we forever going to wait on Obama to solve all the issues that are affecting the black community? If black folks pooled their resources together the same way we support every other business who don,t have any respect for us as a people ,we would be able to solve the majority of those problems ten fold.

Two points to consider… FIRST… Blacks didn’t elect Obama…Democratic candidates get around 90% of the black vote regardless of the candidate’s RACE… Think it rose to 95% in 2008 & 93% in 20012 & largely from Democratic precincts where that amount of increase was inconsequential to the final tally…SECONDLY…NYC under Rudy Giuliani started incarcerating drug & other repeated non major felony offenders, all races, & the murder rate has dropped dramatically since then, 90% of whom would have been victims in minority communities …Chicago does not aggressively incarcerate the kind of offenders you defend in your article & the murder rate is out of control & recently greater than all the coalition forces in Afghanistan; again the majority of whom are minority victims… You’re wearing me out with all the whining about black incarceration, like it’s a major civil rights issue since the ones you want to set free would only go out & terrorize the black community, like in Chicago…

Once again I said it before I saw it.I told you how tuff it is to be President Obama and how there aren’t enough hours in a day nor minutes in an hour for him to balance his commitments to a bunch of self-full,selfish,child minded grown ups with plenty of time to complain while they don’t have a clue about what is involved in the president’s job. You people —smile :)–
inspired me to write this saying that we all should live by.
THE NOISE THAT YOUR MOUTH IS MAKING ABOUT THE PROBLEM SHOULD ONLY BE AS LOUD AS THE NOISE THAT YOUR HANDS ARE MAKING TRYING TO SOLVE IT!!!!!!
In today’s Washington Post Newspaper it reads:”The president missed the deadline for submitting his budget request to congress for the third year in a row.A.5
Can you imagine ? ( probably not ) what his white constituents must be saying amongst each other? Probably something like this “I told you that negroes are always a day late and a dollar short”.
Sad thing is that the president is probably thinking that he let his black side down for giving his white side an opportunity to say that.
So you self proclaimed geniuses need to volunteer your time (since you have so much time to complain and criticize)and help the president balance the budget if you even know what a budget is .So next time , put yourself in his shoes before you join in with the others bashing the real man with the hardest job on earth. Feel good when you see him relax because believe you me …..HE EARNS IT!!!!

This is your best article yet. It reads like Ms. Carnell going in.
In the name of love, I ask that you use your wisdom, influence and podium to go all in like this all the time or just forget about it and do you, to attack these ignorant and simple-minded apologists trolls cruising this site with the same canned “Personal Responsibility Is Or Problem” DOO DOO. Shut ‘em down. Let’s take it to the streets or continue to suffer and starve waiting or worse, continuing to speed in the opposite direction of our stated collective destination of equality, a fair chance for all of OUR children to do better than their parents.
Here is our invoice Mr President for services rendered. We want our check.
Pay us in truth and good-faith reasoning for starters. Lets talk honestly about your thinly veiled stated contempt “bedroom slippers”, “any fool can make a baby”, etc for american blacks, I aint mad at you about this ’cause we hate ourselves and each other too. But maybe we can prove to you these truths… that the vast, vast majority of us love and want the best for ourselves and our children. Even modern history says clearly that we have worked the hardest for the betterment of this nation and gained the least ,so the black poor work ethic theory stinks too. All we need is what is to get what we’ve already earned. Give us a chance to argue to the country that crime in our ‘hoods is motivated by poverty and poverty in our ‘hoods is sustained by the highest levels of our own government’s propaganda for blacks along with importation of drugs from thousands of miles away to saturate our communities to name a couple and to argue again that this is not so much a personal responsibility thing that you and your syncopants has made it out to be.

Brother Michael, are you saying God hasn’t connected to any other person that Louis? Speaking from experience, a good deal of what he says has already been revealed to many chosen far and wide. However, we all are not on stage and we all are no Muslim. As a matter of fact, many of us praise no man, nor symbol, nor idol. I attempted to reach out to Louis about a “dream” I had in which he played a major part. While I did not receive ANY response to my writing, he did a speech that appeared to surround info similar to what I provided. So pretty much, as I know God gave me my truth, which does include a hand and more revived abilities, including experiences behind the veil. And I will tell you this, there are many messengers, filled with the HOLY spirit. We are not aware that there is ONE prophet in the flesh, here on EARTH, as of this writing. Many signs are being seen and experienced, however because I see many people at the Lightbridge, and everyone of us come to be a light beacon for the lost, to give one preacher/prophet such a high title over one race or one world seems rather smallminded. What of we who you donot see?

First and foremost you must help yourself before anyone else can help you! I can’t keep an idiot out of jail or prison nor can the president! My son a minister and corrections officer has tried talking to young people in jail and they just don’t want to hear it. My son has a degree in social work, he had such hope for helping our people when he graduated but after 12 years in the field, he got out, how can you help a child whose parent is a doper, and offers it to the child, they try and get help for the parent and then eventually return the child to the parent where the cycle continues. How do you keep women from becoming involved with dope pushers and bringing them into the home, whereas it shows the child it is ok to do this. We want the “dream” but most of us do not want to do what it takes to get and maintain the “dream.” The streets are too easy. We cannot put it on the President, it is on the individual! Don’t do the crime, if you can’t do the time! If you want a doper/pusher/thief, murderer to be your man, take your birth control pills and don’t bring babies into this world! If you fall into the above, you are an idiot!

Brother Boyce I defended you on one of your other blogs( it’s time to confront mass incarceration) but you are not making it easy for me to do so this time. I gave you the benefit of doubt on that one but you are showing some delusional activity if you even jokingly mentioned a ” Black America”. Sir ,anybody that has the slightest clue reality knows that there is and never will be a” Black America” Sorry to rain on your charade on that one but the truth is the truth’

Pres. Obama received more black votes in history more than any other president because at one time black people weren’t allowed to vote and we are progressively learning to do so.Up until now we haven’t had anything
worth voting for.Hopefully you didn’t vote for his opponent on the downlow cause it sounds like you might have or would now.

And by the way, Mr.” Black America”( Masa we sick today) who are the “you people” that you were referring to?You people is not possessive it is condescending. That’s the reason why I’m in your face now cause you sound like you are talking about my people.
The reason why we are in a mess today is that we haven’t had a leader to lead us out of this mess since Dr.KING
got us on the bus to equal rights. You and Du Boise need to get it straight .We didn’t and don’t need to strive to be equal to the whites (we already are and always have been) we only need to demand equal rights in white america as black americans. We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal. Brother Boyce we were created equal already and some of us who believe it are already proving it everyday .The fight is for those equal unalienable rights .
Of course I’m not talking about you –you have answers? You should be “Black America’s” president.

You say “WE” build homes as the builders of America. You don’t sound like a builder. Are you a carpenter or isn’t your title Doctor. Are you confused ?You can’ be “WE” in the good paragraph if you were not a part of “YOU in the preceding one????
White women jumped on the equal rights right wagon first— that black people paid for( not “you” people) but my people.
If president Obama pardoned the tens and thousands of men and women incarcerated for petty crimes his office will be so busy choosing which ones to release that he wouldn’t have time to stop crimes in the nation.
And for your information the Hispanic is the New Black and the Korean is the new Jew, White people will always be White and if you don’t get what I’m saying you will be too.

As for employment the” you people can’t get jobs because you don’t want to work” is the most idiotic statement that only a disconnected can make about black people. Black people don’t know how to work for three generations since slavery. If we had the job opportunities that white people have , we would out work and out perform white people and then they would have the problem. But who hires people and what people will they hire?
Who in the heck gives a dime about the politicians respecting every American? We don’t need their respect. They need ours. Man you got it all backwards. You embarrass me with this.

Don’t you dare try to talk like us with that” Lawud stuff. We see where your place is and your place isn’t with Dr. King nad us in the fields so don’t suggest killing his dream because you haven’t earned the right. Maybe I was wrong in defending you .Don’t rush your blogs bro. Do your research first. Sorry

Sister Davis; if you are getting 100% cooperation from Black Men and Women then it may be time for you to check yourself.I have my issues with Obama but I cannot bash him. I saw him address the Black community in West Philadelphia and his entire speech centered around the notion of pulling yourselves up from your bootstraps. Not once did he mention what he was going to do for Black or poor People. I knew right then that we had to start thinking about our independence. When I heard about the report about Black Folks doing worst under Obama, I was not surprised at all. Dr. Boyce is d**d on but the script President Obama is following has historical ramifications. If you know anything about meritorious manumission, you will understand the president’s role a little better.

Just what is it that makes people think that ANY President is suppose to do something specifically for any particular group? I think that people who think that the President is suppose to do something special for them is simply lazy people waiting for someone to do everything for them. The President is not the president od the Black people… He is the President of the United States of America so he is EQUALLY OBLIGATED to us all. What he is attempting to do is make it easier for you to get off your backside and do for yourself and get equality. Better Education, healthcare, Opportunity. This is a very changed world from what it was simply 10 years ago. those little jobs you had a few years ago that made you THINK you were getting ahead, no longer exist. Those jobs are being replaced with jobs that are more technical and you need to educate yourselves to be able to get these jobs. All of those companies are not just trying to save money by exporting jobs. They are sending jobs to where the knowledge is available. The United States has sit by and let many 3rd world countries pass them by in education. We are now ranked 254th in Education around the world. We use to be Number one. Stop blaming others for your situation. You are the Captain of your ship and the Master of your Soul. Get up and do something just for YOU.

Throughout American History the Black man has been held to a much higher standard than any other race. It’s one of the things we as Black people have always understood and unwillingly accepted. Whenever a Black person break’s new ground as being the “1st” in any category or endeavor he had to be way ahead of his competition. Barack Obama surely would not be President had he been “ordinary” and way ahead of his competition. I can understand the hate and the criticism coming from White America because it’s what they do when Black people emerge and break new ground. When I first started hearing all the hate and criticism of the President coming from some the self-appointed Black leaders and scholars I was very disappointed and angry because I knew their agendas were self-serving and based on jealousy, envy and other personal agendas. These people have done nothing to advance the conditions of Black people as a whole in this country and they’re trying to get the President and the Government to do something that they should be doing. The President is not a Civil Rights Leader; he’s the POTUS, elected by a majority of American voters of all races. He has an equal obligation to all races and not just Black people. The biggest criticism of the President that I hear from Black people is what he’s doing for everyone else and doing nothing for African-Americans. These so-called leaders and scholars continually talk about some “Black Agenda”. It doesn’t take much common-sense to know that the President can’t pass or get passed through Congress any legislation specifically targeted to African-Americans; so why are these people still trying to convince Black people that he can and that he should? We have the same opportunities as any other American to be or to do anything any other American can do; if this were not true Barack Obama would not be President. I’m not saying you should love the President and that he doesn’t deserve some criticism for some of the things he does and maybe doesn’t do, but you can’t criticize him or hate him because he can’t get done what any other President hasn’t done. He didn’t put us where we are and he shouldn’t be responsible to do any more than anyone else before him.
Remember; leaders lead; they’re out in front walking the walk; not just talking the talk; they don’t just sit behind a desk or a pin or ride across the country in an air conditioned bus paid for by white folk trying to buy votes for the Republican Party and turning African-Americans against each other and the country. Stop listening to these fools and start using good common-sense.

I believe I posted this last week: We, Black people, have to stop whining and try to find causes and solutions to high employment and violence in our Black communities. There are several factors. First we have to strive to graduate from high school. That means those without high school should try to get GED. I have met very bright Black boys and girls, but they lack GED. Employers as excuse first ask if you have 12 year degree. Second we have to stop hooliganism i.e. baggy pants showing underwear. No regular employer would hire somebody with baggy pants, a reflection of bad behavior – suspecting shop lifting and killing one another. We need more police officers. Please e-mail President Obama for more police officers now before he leaves office in 2016. After the recent 26 people gunned down at the school, Republicans now realize gun violence is not in Black neighborhoods problem alone but is in White and elite neighborhoods. Black churches have to be involved too. They can be guiding lights to reduce violence and reduce achievement gap. I will be writing a grant application to that effect. Third, we have to be committed to find employment. This is despite some of us have criminal records. There are jobs that do not inhibit you from employment despite our criminal records: highway construction, drywall painting, carpentry, brick layers, trucking, delivery jobs, assembly work, high rise construction etc. Use those muscles to get a job. Every time I drive around I see only Whites and Mexicans working in street repairs. Where are Blacks? They don’t have the skills! We should get training at 2 year colleges – six months graduation. President Obama has grants and loans for you. Now if we are denied jobs we have to find why. Sue the employers. However, we Blacks have to be careful with federal judges now – I mean federal republican appointed judges. Some federal judges are republicans and are now turning racists. They are upset President Obama was re-elected. These racist judges are avenging themselves by denying blacks justice. So even if you sue, these judges will protect employers. Please read discrimination opinions from 7th circuit. You will be amazed how republican judges rule. Just horrible. They usually side with employers, many times knowingly. We used to hear such judges’ behavior in federal courts in Texas. We never expected such behavior to happen in our backyard federal court of Western District of Wisconsin. One judge in federal court district conducted a Kangaroo hearing – denying a Black man right to ask his opponent questions. Some republican judges were raised to believe Blacks are intellectually inferior to Whites. We have to make sure we get justice in courts. Thank God we have Eric Holder as US AG. Also watch out our republican governors. For instance Walker of Wisconsin doesn’t want Blacks to sue employers. In fact the governor is trying to get rid of state department that investigates discrimination complaints. So in Wisconsin you can be denied a job and there is nowhere to turn to. You’re a slave in Wisconsin is you’re black. Thank God the Wisconsin court system is still works. What a break. Reminder – Please be careful who you have federal judges. If you have a case in federal court, investigate if the judge is a republican and fire him or her within 10 days of filing your case. I did once and therefore you can do so.

The end of racism in America. Remember this November 6: 46% of White males voted for President Obama; 67% of White females voted for President Obama; 98% of Black females voted for President Obama; 99 percent of Black males voted for President Obama; 78% of other racial minorities voted for President Obama. Don’t you see we are now almost brothers and sisters in this country! All we need is to compete equitably for jobs and advancement. No more Affirmative Action programs. However, the present discrimination laws have to be enforced. We have Holder for the job. Holder is also Black/White AG. I love this.

This question is very complicated. You as an educator will not solve any real problems by vilifying other blacks who have good will. One of the real aspects of this problem is the non responsibility of this generation of non believers of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We can only solve this problem by having our Black community become more responsibility and taking care of our own. If we as blacks would sure more steadfast moral action, we would be better off. Let me give you an example. If I go to aback store to buy some goods or service, although I am black I am not treated with the same respect as a white customer. If I buy a good or service and find a problem with this item, they may not honor this problem. This is why some blacks do not patronize our own people. We have to solve this problem. Some whites come across with the proper goods an or services with out any back stabbing or complaints. This is only one of our problems, besides the drugs. I know that the President has real problems but we have to make noise in order for the response. In order to have a job you need skills. The President has tried to make it possible for blacks to get skills. Instead of being critical lets try to forth right in solving real problems.

I know that the President has real problems but we have to make noise in order for the response. In order to have a job you need skills. The President has tried to make it possible for blacks to get skills. Instead of being critical lets try to forth right in solving real problems.

Ending racism in America. I am serious. The only people holding freedom from racism are some Republican appointed federal judges. We have to get rid of Republican appointed federal judges especially those at the 7th Circuit. I will ask Senate and Congressional leaders to put a cap of 4 years for all federal judges. They have to be evaluated every 4 years. Those whose judgments are reversed should be fired. 7th Circuit republican appointed judges encourage employers to discriminate against women and racial minorities. Careful when you a case at the 7th Circuit. Your case is in harm’s way if those presiding are republican appointed judges.

I don’t live in the “hood” because I don’t want to spend the time and effort needed to protect body and property.

All of you can whine if you like, blame Obama, (He’s not a friend of mine, only voted for him once)

I learned that “keeping it real” has no value what so ever! I’m not wealthy, I have however learned working for the Government or even privately own company or a Corporation is not for me I couldn’t make enough to maintain my life style.

Get educated and go for what you know! Start your own business!

The respect the equality you seek will fall right into your lap!

Don’t debate over what the President can do or what he won’t do, go around him all he can do to you is take more taxes!

I wish President Obama would come to.Chicago and speak about the violence. Just to shut people up. Then when he goes back to D.C. and another homicide happens immediately after, then what? As far as the Sandy Hook shooting goes here are my thoughts: when that shooting happened the WHOLE Sandy Hook community stood up and demanded action. They did not wait for 1 or 5 or 500 homicides before they reacted and reacted strong!! We sat back for how long? Now we are angry, now we are shouting. Why do we as a people pick and choose whose d***h to get angry about? We sat back for so long and did nothing about these murders I believe everybody else just saw it as normal, including our POTUS. You have to love yourself before someone else can love you. Black americans don’t love ourselves. If we did we would not have allowed our children to keep dying. So why should President Obama care?

I have started a campaign.I am calling Americans of all race and creed to e-mail President Obama to appoint Jesse Jackson Sr., to head federal agency – such as Secretary of Interior. Jackson is respected all over the country for his knack to bring warring parties together. Jesse can be instrumental in bringing senses to residents in big cities such as Chicago, Milwaukee and LA to stop killing one another. Let’s start this campaign – E-mail President Obama to appoint Jesse as Secretary of Interior. I have e-mail President Obama two times now. Join me. I will also e-mail NAACP President and Al Sharpton to talk to President Obama to appoint Jesse Jackson for this particular position. We love Jesse Jackson.

Dr. Watkins, most of what you said is true, but a lot of what has been happening to us, we brought on ourselves. Ws refused to hold our elected official responsible, and we refused to see the system that we live under as being coppupt.
United States is just a continuation of the RACIST SYETEM, that brougt us here as SLAVES.Today we are fast becoming reinstituated back into SLAVER, because of IGNORANCE. Obama, was elected president to lead the charge of us being re-instating European DOMINSTION OF AFRICA for its RESOURCES, who is best to lead that charge that a BLACK MAN?>
Obama, is the EQUIPMENT being used to carry out the AGENDA.The European economic slave system is collapsing around them, and the only thing that can save that SYSYEM, is the NATURAL RESOURCES OF AFRICA. That is Obama’s role to carry out the control of African wealth for his European MASTERS.
I believed in Obama when he ran in 08, I even called him our MOSES, but it did not take me very long to see throught him.
The first thing he did when he was elected president was going to Europe to get his instruction from them. He did not go to Asia, where the wealth is being made, he went to EUROPE. That was the first signal that I picked up to know that he was not there to help black, but to keep us subservant to our oppressors. So you see the script have been written the only fools is us, because we trust him as one of us.
nothing will change for us until we stop trusting these leaders whom we have never chosen but were chosen for us.We can look through history and see if there were any blacks that we had chosen that have SURVIVED. Garvey was demonised by his own people in Jamaica, as well as here. He leave with is lfe but he did not live long he died at age 52. Martin Luther King, died at age 39. Malcolm X, died very young as werll at the hands of his own. None of these people were chosen by the power that be, they rose from our ranks. The ones that were delivered to us by others live long prosperious lives. Until we start choosing for ourself, we will always lose. We must select who will lead us and be committed to our cause. We have strenght when we have unity, and we should have many leaders not just one. When we have unity and a cause we all will be in accord. Therefore when one is taken another will rise to replace him or her, but it will be of our chosen.

I agree with Ann. Why are we Black people always looking for someone to save us? Why are we always looking for a leader, a massa? Who is the Jewish leader? The gay leader? The Mexican leader? The women leader? NO ONE but themselves. They have a thread of hunger and getting out of America all the opportunity it has to offer. It is easy to pass legislation to give immigrants rights, gays rights, women’s rights. All they require is a stroke of the pen. Obama has no pen to legislate the the erasure of the psychological damage of slavery on our culture, the intracultural disrespect and conflict that plagues our community and keeps us from going within ourselves to get us all fully engaged in the benefits of this country. Immigrants come here HUNGRY. Hungry for the benefits of living in America. When they see each other the see the collective hunger, work hard and make it work for them. Mexicans pile themselves 10 in a 2 bedroom apartment to make a point. They take care of each other’s children so other mothers can work. The work for lower wages because our poor won’t. This is America. It will concede NOTHING to us as a people. We must get off our complacency and develop the thread of aggression and industriousness among us so we can compete and raise constructive he** when we encounter racism. Where is the boycott? Where are our young? On their cell phones. Certainly not organizing a march on Washington. So no Obama can do nothing for us that we can’t do for ourselves. Our problems are deeper than the stroke of a pen.

There was a momentary appearance of gains mainly b/c the broadcasts made known to the world what we had known for centuries & the US govt didn’t like the bad press. So once they re-calibrated and took stock, they just went right back to business as usual–be clear that the flooding of crack cocaine, the explosion of incarceration rates, the outsourcing of manufacturing–were all part of the official ‘non-official’ US govt response to our demands for equality.

    Dr. Boyce,
I agree with your sentiments. During President Obama’s first term, it was clear that his elitist agenda did not represent the very people that overwhelming voted for him. Do we not forget that before that election he marched on Salem’s anniversary and said nothing about Jena 6. But yet when Henry Louis Gates had a problem with police, a “friging Beer Summit” was held. Shall I say more.
It was clear that in the last election, he was the lesser of two evils. Shall I say, “The Best Horse in the Race.” However, we must hold him accountable for making sure that the very people that supported him have their issues on the agenda; not just on the agenda, but get his undivided attention. My vote was for my agenda. That means that the Af. Am. community with our health, educational, protection, business/financial, and employment be addressed. People may call Tavis and Cornell haters, but they called it a long time ago when Hilary showed up on every front and Obama did not. So, is calling a spade a spade not acceptable when telling the truth about our own. Well, we frequently say, “It is what it is!” That is unacceptable. Pres. Obama’s attention to our agenda is not happening and we are have to fight just as hard to make sure we are heard on all matters. The time is now and not later. What are black people willing to accept??? White folk won’t mix with Blacks unless it’s for buffoonery entertainment. THEY know you better than you do! Money makes them dance!!! Your distracted from your TRUTH!!!! Shuckin and jivin and fighting all over yourselves for money?! Paper illusion?! Too many are so stuck in the world they choose not to acknowledge God and come away. They live as the beast does. Black people have gone so deep as to hate the color they and so they strike at everything that looks like them. Black people have lost touch with the God in them so they seek external Gods. Cardinals RIGHT NOW want to change the “criteria of Black worship”! Black people have made deals under deals on top of deals to experience the white mans world, when in fact, black people had everything they needed—and wanted. I see detached, unfeeling, unloving, stressed, fearful, and even beast-like black people. And do know every person is not a reflection of Self. Every person is an ASPECT of God, either within or without, IS or IS NOT. There is only LOVE in truth. Black people live in fear of themselves AND of reaching back to God, because they are living a lie. A HUGE lie. So now you punish yourSelf with fear of some wrathful god supposedly sitting outside of yourself watch you! That’s your “beloved” 40hour work week, retire, and die government. They’re the one’s watching you to ensure you live and die under THEIR wrath! The veil is so thick for some that they attack others like them to save themselves from MANS punishment. Black people have come to fear “d***h”. There IS no d***h! The spirit is immortal! O but you stressed in flesh?! That is what separates YOU from Jesus the Christed, MLK, Malcolm, Marcus, and every other teacher, prophet and messenger sent. You beg, you plead, you pray, and bleed for an answer, a savior, someone to show you the WAY. Then they come, you criticize, you ostracize, you judge, then k**l, all because the white man points out little HUMANE flaws. Get up and handle your own self-professed problems! Do you think GOD would come as the light directly to you if you are not on GOD’S frequency as a people??? No. So before you God stands as you, man in the flesh. When you clear your accounts you will stand before God as God, in the light. Wake up wake up wake up. Some folks are going to just have to say it to Blacks straight up WAKE THE HECK UP AND MAN YOUR SHIP!!!! You are now responsible for your own actions and that of your brothers because you indulge together and turn away from the call of God in you. You mock, you bicker, you distract, and restrain yourSelves and each other, thinking God is separate from you. How little of you to believe you are here without guidance, without love. There are so many of us already waiting for you to come God’s way. YOU chose to suffer! YOU chose to indulge! You chose to fight for equality of flesh—-you were free already!!!! How will you become free again??? Wake up Black people, and become ONE brethren in the Spirit of God, or die a permanent d***h in the flesh of man. There need no being of a middle man to spin you around and set you on any ground. YOU go straight to the closet and talk to God, “God, what will you to have of me???”

Politics is local. If you are really calling for a change, then start getting politically astitute and get the right people in office locally and statewide, that’s where your best bet will be. Alot of your solutions are right there in your own communities, put pressure on those local and state politicians, vote for local and state politicians who have your best interests at heart…from a national perspective, you will receive very little, and just look, even those national initiatives that are being pushed that might somewhat help folks are being spit right back out because the state governors and houses are saying NO (i.e. Obamacare)…look around people, gerrimandering is relentless and it’s your state politicians who are now trying to take control of this country from the State level and with the majority of the states headed by Republican governors and Republican houses, they are snatching up power left and right (you know when we get ahead, they want to change the rules)…so instead of worrying about what you ain’t getting from President Obama (remember he will be out in four years), worry about how politicians are already plotting against you to make your life even more miserable after 2016 (and just because yall hollering for Hillary Clinton won’t make it no better, alot of your misery now is because of the policies her husband (your first black president) put in place)…so, while you sit back and pout, think about the fact that if you are so bad off now, you will be worse off later…

I find this article overstated and counterproductive.

I personally don’t agree with President Obama on all matters and see room for positive critique. Emphasis, positive, meaning productive and results-oriented, not merely ranting in frustration. I too wish that President Obama had included more overt reference to African Americans in his inaugural vision for a more perfect union, partly because I *knew* that omitting said reference would provide a wide opening to his critics to falsely depict the WH as indifferent or hostile to black people.

It’s one thing to advocate for President Obama to do more to overtly address the emergencies facing the black community; quite another to resort to baseless character attacks like the one in this article. What does this sense of hopelessness and nihilism accomplish? As the comment above me notes, solutions for our people are going to have to come at all levels: state, federal, local, community, and family. This divisive article is unfair and unhelpful regardless of how you feel about President Obama.

Dr. Boyce is not the one who is causing the divide in the black community; it is Obama. We all voted for him and he has chosen to ignore us. Now you have some who rightfully criticize him for ignoring us and then you have some that are just so happy to have a black president that they get angry at the people who want more than a figure head. Again we all voted for President Obama. So who is really causing the divide?

        Couple of things:

        1. President Obama has a very high stature and level of respect within the black community. You can like him or love him, but if you’re going to approach other black people on this subject, the rants and character attacks like the one in this article are guaranteed to be met with some measure of condemnation and disapproval.

        2. You and Dr. Boyce, et. al. are not about to shame or cajole black people into disdaining this President or co-signing inflammatory and unfair statements. Just as you believe that your stance against the President is principled, my stance for him (which is based on items which he delivered for the economy, healthcare, HCBUs, and prison sentence reform) is 100% based on principle and policy. In addition, that the best president of this generation is also black is a source of pride which pretty much can’t be diminished at this point.

        3. As I stated previously, I don’t agree with the President on everything and I hardly expect others to do so as well. Yet there is a big difference between having a constructive and positive conversation versus watching the sad spectacle of brothers simply shooting down other brothers. And you guys should know by now that a fair amount of our people are not going to be checking for this morose, nihilist “nothing changes” stuff—we didn’t get from the cotton fields to the WH in less than 200 years with that attitude. And tearing down the first black POTUS? Just not constructive, and pointless IMO. This is not fair critique at all.

President Obama is torn between two lovers. He has to maintain a basically
neutral stance between two jealous and selfish brats—-the blacks and the whites.
Basically his hands are tied by the true powers that be and he is trying to figure out how to work within the limitations of his “virtual authorative position”He is a president and not a king .Worst off ,he is the head of a already divided body-a fake democratic( for the people society) whose god is capitalistic (against the people society) two totally contradictory concepts.
Ultimately he is just a figurehead over a failed concept that was doomed from the beginning but was used to clandestinely create the true powers that be that are the true hand that controls the whole PUPPET SHOW’
Politicians and religious leaders are played as our enterchainment. They are the tools of mass-manipulation to be used until all mass manipulation can be done electronically ordered by the push of a one world button. We are almost there so we need to prepare. I’m working on the how to’s.I have already figured out the what and why.
We are the ones who will fix our communities. It’s our HOUSE and if we patch the holes dividing us we will stand forever. We will be the last ones standing
