I write this post with trepidation… keep reading and you will understand why. I did not vote for Obama in his first or second term. Now don’t get me wrong,  as a black man I was very proud that he won the election, but I’m a realist and I know that him winning meant more government spending and more folks depending on government.

The man who raised me and molded me into the man I am today, was fascinated with President Ronald Reagan – and his enthusiasm intrigued me. Ronald Reagan advocated reducing rates to spur economic growth, controlling the money supply to reduce inflation, deregulation of the economy, and reducing government spending. My granddad’s favorite quote was “cut spending like Ronald Reagan”. My granddad always had a “do for self” attitude. He never wanted us sitting around waiting for a handout. He encouraged us to make our own way as long as it was legit.
