Sarah Palin Attacks MSNBC Host Melissa Harris-Perry Over ‘Lean Forward’ Commercial

It seems that arguing that we are all a part of the same community is reason enough to get the hair up on the back of the necks of some melissa harris perry4conservatives. MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry found this out the hard way when she was attacked for her MSNBC commercial.

In a new “Lean Forward” ad, Perry makes the case that the U.S. should invest in more money in children because children are not just a part of a household, they’re part of a community.

“We have never invested as much in public education as we should have because we’ve always had kind of a private notion of children … We haven’t had a very collective notion of ‘these are our children,’” she says in the ad. “So part of it is we have to break through our kind of private idea that ‘kids belong to their parents,’ or ‘kids belong to their families,’ and recognize that kids belong to whole communities.”

Harris-Perry is clearly arguing that countries should make investments in children because children impact the overall community, not just their nuclear family. If your child doesn’t know how to read and can’t get a job, that impacts the unemployment rate and so on.

But of course, that notion was lost on conservatives like Sarah Palin, who took to Twitter to criticize Harris-Perry: “Apparently MSNBC doesn’t think your children belong to you. Unflippingbelievable.”

And Palin wasn’t the only hyperbolic conservative to go after Harris-Perry, since Rush Limbaugh said Harris-Perry’s  comments were “as old as communist g******e.”

what dumb ars would say ‘kids don’t belong to their parents or their families’? This is one of the stupidest f-ing things I’ve ever heard. But some people believe that. that’s a huge part of the problem in our country. and thus you have big govt gaining power. this is anti-american. recall the revolution and the country that sprung forth was an anti-govt, let man rule himself ideal. but some folks can’t take responsiblity for themselves.

It’s no secret that Sarah Palin is an idiot. I truly believe that she says things just to get media attention and to gen up her base, just to stay relevant. Why do you think she’s no longer on FOX news? LACK OF RATINGS!

Have watched her hokey ad with some alarm…MHP sounds a little Orwellian to me & seems to be advocating for the Progressive version of China’s ReEducation Camps….First they come for your cigarettes…then your guns & 16oz BigGulps and finally YOUR KIDS!!! We are expected to turn over our kids to the same people who have screwed up the Post Office, Welfare & Entitlements & are trying to run one of the largest bureaucracies in the world with the most outdated & antiquated administration systems ever… The cat is out of the Progressive Bag…..YIKES!!!

Methinks she was the prettiest 1/2 term governor to come down the pike in awhile. Did she ever get her country back?

Just take a look at the two people speaking, Palin and Rush, two idiots, one a dope head that is being kept on the job for ratings and the other a failed governor as dumb as a rock, Palin is as “street” as any dope dealer standing on the corner, why bother to put on paper anything either one has to say but oh geez Sarah can see Russia from her house and Rush can see his dope dealer from his radio station!

Children belong primarily to their parents and secondary to members of their extended family, in the event their parents were to become deceased or incapacitated.

    Melissa is naive and wrong.

For those of you still living under a rock, trusting the same government (that has been terrorizing and oppressing black folks for centuries) to educate your child, is a mistake. Further, for most black children public education hasn’t worked.

Black people need to reclaim ownership of their children and communities and not involve the government in their private affairs.

If she (Sarah Palin) didn’t know Africa was a continent what do you expect her to know about the news reporter Melissa Harris-Perry. What a way to get attention. Always remember “The idle mind is the devils workshop.” Now she should shut the front door and lean forward!!! Keep up the good work Melissa. God Bless.

Seriously? This was clearly a slip of the tongue and not a misinformed President. Why do conservatives always try to twist the obvious into something it isn’t? Anyone with half a brain can see through it.
