Kenya swore in its new president Tuesday before a large crowd, which included numerous heads of state from around the world and American civil rights activist Jesse Jackson.

Uhuru Kenyatta (pictured)  became the nation’s fourth president after a long election legitimacy struggle that ended up in the Kenyan Supreme Court. Kenyatta is the youngest person to be sworn in as Kenya’s president.

Tens of thousands of people gathered in a stadium in Kenya’s capital of Nairobi Tuesday to watch Kenyatta’s inauguration. Kenyatta, 51, is the son of Kenya’s founding father. He won the election with 50.07% of the vote.
