Former CNN Anchor Soledad O’Brien Joins Al Jazeera America

Soledad O’Brien, who recently left the CNN morning show Starting Point, has reportedly confirmed that she’s signed on as a correspondent for Al Jazeera. soledad_obrien2010-med-big

In a statement, O’Brien said she looked forward to “beginning a relationship with Al Jazeera America, which has made a commitment to producing quality programming and pursuing underreported stories.”

Soledad will be a correspondent for Al Jazeera’s  show “America Tonight” and also produce documentaries for the network.

Al Jazeera America has hired hundreds of people as it prepares to launch Al Jazeera America in early fall. According to Reuters, the Qatar based network, which has its American headquarters in New York, has already hired about 600 new employees. Also, as part of its American investment, Al Jazeera bought Al g**e’s Current TV earlier this year so that it could compete with American news networks.

In Soledad O’Brien’s heartfelt goodbye to the viewers of Starting Point, she reminded them that “facts matter”, saying that if she’s  “learned anything over the past year it’s that facts matter and we shouldn’t be afraid to have tough and honest conversations and maybe even argue a little bit when there’s a lot at stake.”

The sort of content she will be producing for Al Jazeera will hopefully provide her the freedom to produce the content she wasn’t allowed to produce at CNN.

During an interview with Mediaite shortly after announcing that she would no longer be anchoring her morning program, O’Brien admitted that leadership problems hampered her CNN show’s performance.

“You really cannot successfully do a show when nobody really agrees what the show is.” O’Brien said.

That’s a good one: “Confederate News Network.” Thanks MMDCCBSLM

Good luck, Soledad. They are getting rid of all folks of color who pursue a truth not advocated by corporate. President Obama’s election sent some of those folks to the crazy farm. They forgot all about the content of freedom and equality stated in the Constitution. As I learned long ago, the various “-isms” aren’t about gender, color, age, or ethnicity; it’s all about power and the accessibility to power.

Go and do “fearless” things my Sister!

All the best to you, Soledad. May your tenure at Al Jazeera be long and fruitful. You are a true journalist. Most of the people calling themselves journalists these days have sold their souls to corporate interests who want only certain information let out. Speak truth to power. Perhaps, your bravery will encourage others to really report news. Good luck and God bless.

SOLEDAD, YOU SHOULD BE THE FIRST TO REPORT AND DO A DOCUMENTARY ON “ACADEMIC AND EDUCATIONAL HOMICIDE(AEH)[COPYRIGHTED BOOK TITLE] GLOBALLY AND IN AMERICA. SINCE 1619 IT IS A 494 YEAR OLD IDEA OF UNDEREDUCATING MINORITIES AND WOMEN IN AMERICA AND BRITAIN, THE BRITISH EMPIRE, MUSLIM, ARABIC, AND ALL MAJOR NATIONS. AFRICA CANNOT RISE DUE TO AEH AND WE ARE TRYING TO REVERSE THAT. I HAVE 30,000 PAGES, OVER 10 TAPES,AND 1000′S OF HOURS IN WRITING AND LITIGATING ABOUT IT. IT IS THE MISSING PIECE THAT IS DESTROYING AMERICAN EDUCATION.

Please call me. AEH prevented America and Americans from reaching our full human and Godly potentials.

    Soledad,
knowing that it was just a matter of time before you would no longer be with CNN. I commend you in your quest for greater heights. Journalism has changed drastically in the previous 6 or 7 years. My Sister! Continue to do what you do best, searching out the facts as well as telling the truth.

I’ve been waiting to find out where she would end up. At first I read an article that she would be teaching at Harvard, perhaps she still will be. Nevertheless, I’m so pleased that she will remain in TV. I stop watching CNN because Mrs. O’Brien left the show because she was the best anchorwoman on the show. Besides, her reporting was straight forward and honest. And, wherever Soledad is I will follow.

Just because of your political views, you have to be distasteful in your posting? I do pray for the day when someone like you will no longer view your fellow person constantly and only through your political lens. Remember now, we are all Americans and do have a brain and not all of us necessarily see the world the same as you, even though we are sharing the same space(America)So lets dialogue with each, to lean from each other, instead of name calling.
Because there is nothing substantive to any one else except to you!!!

Please remember when you throw dirt you will end up with dirty hands!!!!

      One Love!!!!
