What's Happening In Your World
Jennifer Carroll was once flying high in the world of right wing politics.  She’d earned the respect of those who don’t get much black support, and was clearly aiming her political sights for the top of the food chain.  But it all came to an end after an investigation related to a veterans charity accused of running illegal slot machines. Carroll says that she was in her office taking photos when agents came in, asking to speak with her.   Shortly afterward, she was asked to resign by Florida Governor Rick Scott.   She resigned immediately after that. “In my military time, when the commander in chief makes a demand or a request, you say ‘Aye, aye sir,’ and you march on. And that’s what I did,” she said, referencing her experience in the Navy. “I thought it would be better to remove myself from being a distraction.” Carroll herself wasn’t under investigation, but the incident involved a group called the Allied Veterans, who were being accused of unseemly activity.  Carroll says she was paid $6,000 per month to do PR work for the company and knew nothing about illegal activities.  The leaders of the company, 60 in total, have been charged with running a massive illegal gambling ring.   Carroll says the governor knew about her work with the company when he considered her as his running mate. “This was part of my vetting,” she said. “Everything was on the table. My association with clients, my degrees, my time in the service, my time in the Legislature, all my bills, all my media press clips. All of that was discussed. So this wasn’t anything that was new to anybody.” Carroll hasn’t spoken to the governor since she resigned on March 12.   She was the first female to ever hold her post.  Things got interesting a few months ago, when a black staffer filed a lawsuit against Carroll, claiming that she was engaged in a lesbian act with another woman in her office.  That’s when Carroll made the comment:  “Black women who look like me don’t engage in relationships like that.” Carroll’s remarks offended gay and lesbian rights activists around the country.  To date, Carroll continues to deny the allegations , but her tenure has been a volatile one, to say the least.

  1. What ever is done in the dark, eventually will come to the light.

  2. Mrs. Carroll has an interesting background to say the least; however, I don’t understand all the mechanics leading to her resignation — and I imagine with her giving up her throne so easy she’d prefer that the legalities of the matter just go away.

    — Anyways, go Navy.
