What's Happening In Your World
Someone forwarded me an image of a bumper sticker that jolted my brain more than a pound of coffee with extra sugar and a spoonful of Crystal Meth.  The bumper sticker said, “Don’t Re-Nig in 2012,” making reference to President Barack Obama and the 2012 presidential campaign. Just kidding on the Meth joke, I’ve never use illegal drugs.  But I’d be lying like a dog if I didn’t say that I was taken aback and offended by this bumper sticker, which isn’t exactly the sort of thing you expect to see in the lovely post-racial society that America has become.  In case you aren’t aware, having a black president eliminates 400 years of slavery, lynching, castrations, whippings, late night murders, rapes. family destruction, false convictions, terrorism and theft.  I know this is true because Bill O’Reilly said so – you black people just need to get over it. While the bumper sticker certainly seems to be good reason to get up in arms, I woke up this morning thinking that perhaps we’re all being a bit too sensitive about this.  This shocking fact may surprise you, but I’ll let you in on a little secret:  There are still some really racist people in America. Yes, black people, there are folks who will still call you a n*gger.  There are people who won’t live next door to you, and there are others who won’t let you date their relatives.   There are people who put on white robes, hang nooses on other people’s doors and might even burn a cross in your front yard. The thing is that these people are never going to go away.  I wonder how productive it is for us to go bananas over every extreme example of racism that we find on the Internet?  Wouldn’t that be like trying to kill every rat, fly and pigeon in New York City? The bumper sticker was likely created by one delusional individual or small company that still thinks that we should be at the back of the bus. But guess what?  Most white people would not buy this bumper sticker and would be repulsed by it. Also, going nuts over every tiny example of racism only gives a tremendous amount of power to the one extremist who wants to get national attention for some maniacal idea.   In this regard, I agree with President Obama’s reaction to racism he’s seen from Republicans:  It’s all part of the game, a tool that your enemies use to control your thinking and you have to rise above it to focus on more important issues. Now, this doesn’t alleviate the Republican Party of its guilt in much more subtle forms of racism.  It is also true that Republicans are more than happy to gain momentum from the subconscious anger that many Americans have about taking orders from a black man.  But the days where we all prepare to riot because one fool made an outrageous bumper sticker have to go. I’d love to see us get just as angry over forms of racism that have a more pervasive effect, like the prison industrial complex, which has incarcerated so many black men that it’s undermined the very structure of the black family in America.  We can talk about the fact that there is a smaller percentage of black homeowners today than there was in 1990.   We might also mention that our kids are forced to attend horrible schools or that black family wealth is still less than 1/10 th that of white families.  You can’t do that much damage with 10,000 bumper stickers, I assure you. If you are Jewish, I’m sure there is a bumper sticker out there that says that the holocaust never happened.  If you are a woman, there is something out there calling you a b*tch. In a nation with 311 million people in it, there is always something, somewhere out there to offend everyone, and we can’t all go crazy every time we are exposed to the ridiculous ranting of some ignorant white person. Now, if two out of every three white people were buying this bumper sticker, I might get it.   If the Republicans were using this phrase as their national campaign slogan, then I’d say “burn this mutha down.”  If I were on my way to work and saw four of my colleagues bumping “Don’t Re-Nig” t-shirts, I might get into a fist fight that day.  But I’m tired of going bonkers every time somebody out there finds something to indicate that there are some white people who hate our guts. Guess what?  Your grandchildren will still see those same bumper stickers if they go out and look for them.  But if you keep focusing on the small-minded picture of racism, you will usually miss the big picture entirely.   Dr. Boyce Watkins is a Professor at Syracuse University and author of the book, “Black American Money .” To have Dr. Boyce commentary delivered to your email, please click here.

Dr. Boyce: So, They are Telling Us Not to Re-Nig in 2012? Let’s Talk about That

  1. This is a great article!!! Small forms of racism do make me angry, but I agree that you can’t let them get to you because they’re not going away.

I agree that people should care more about the hidden forms of racism than the overt!!! However I think its all part of the plan… the harder it is to see, the harder it is to stop!

  2. Racism is definitely a mental illness. Let’s pray for them. They don’t know any better and they don’t have the capacity to learn.

  3. We should not concern ourselves with the thoughts of a few white people that have hatred in their hearts toward African-American. I can attest to the fact that it is not a majority. So why would we get bent out of shape because some unintelligent person came up with an unintelligent bumper sticker. What we as a people need to do now is to unite and re-elect President Obama to a second term. We need not to stop there. After President Obama is re-elected in November 2012, we need to start looking for another African-American to take his place. The Republicans have stated that their primary concentration will be to make President Obama a one-term president. Our concern should be that after President Obama finishes his second term, that we shall elect another African-American and after that 44 other African=American presidents. We as a people can do it. God bless you all and God bless America.

  4. Nothing But The Truth!

It amazes me that we are still surprised by the acute racism in this racist country. We see clearly that having a great President, a great person, attempting to do the right thing for all of the American people will make absolutely no difference because these kinds of people are, and always have been, the scourge of the country and world since its beginning. Having an African-American President makes it impossible for these low-lifes to control or suppress their feelings of insecurity and inferiority. Let’s re-elect President Barack Obama on Tuesday, November 06, 2012, because he is the very best person to lead this country.

  5. Racism does not have a expiration date. All of the wrong done against Black people should be recorded somewhere in writiing or/and video, even the wrong done against Black people by other black people because this is the time of judgment and a case have to be built up against the enemy of Black people. In anyways even in small incidents that eem insigniificant one can get a snapshot of the mentality of folks and a better understanding of what is going on.

  6. People, Louis Murphy is very likely not a Black Person, I believe he is pretending.

His writings are that of an Angry White Conservative. He manipulates words so that we listen, be very aware this is a psyche front.

    Louis Murphy is a Fake.

  7. Brothers and Sisters, question is, Is brother Obama a BLACK man?.
We all know he has a WHITE mama. He grew up with the white race. Why do we of African origin claim him all for ourselves as a Black man?
Remember accepting Pres. Obama a Blackman is like taking him away from his Mama!
And this gives the haters power to display their hate, just for we blacks to feel offended.
So in short may you in African Americans release the mental slavery and offer them their “part” of Obama as White and we shall see what magic such other ways of thinking create!
The Future is Africa. We need to withhold the centre and all shall be added!

  8. No pun intended, but this article really puts it out there.

  9. The nation has never addressed the problems we “blacks” face in this overly “racist” and crime ridden environment we find ourselves living and raising conforming children in.
It should be acknowledged that Mr. Obama is a construct of these same Anglo-elite racist pirates!
The government or nation as we know it, is not at all what they have been telling us and conditioning us to believe it is. We have always been made fools of, and we are caught up in a ‘fantasy social structure’ that many of us of all colors etc, are ignorant of. People will not believe reality but they will believe fantasy!

The bumper sticker states the obvious, and we are still obliged to overlook the obvious and act as if we live and learn and raise our children in a good society that will get better, when we should all know better! All of these signs point to our collective insanity! And yes, we all live in denial!

  10. This is my most Loved site. Unfortunately, because of the bugs on it, I gotta leave it. It disrupts my computer whenever I visit it. Please Please Please correct this problem Dr Boyce. I get so informed here. It’s just too frustrating to stay.

    NEWS FLASH!!!

WHITE SUPREMECY IS STILL IN FULL EFFECT. Why would they relenquish anything that works so well for them? The answer to that question is, THEY WILL NOT. Expect more of the same from them.

  11. President Obama is a man of color and the so-called racist can not stand that. They grew up hating people of color and they will continue to do so. Name calling is a ugly word and the people that do that have no sense of balance. They have a one track mind. There was a story out once in the town I am from, a white girl called a black girl the “N” word, the white girl was the local Sheriff daughter, said that the black girl beat the white girl up and said to her afterward, if you call me the “N” word again call me Miss “N”.

Where there is no sense of pride or respect people will sink to a low level. President Obama is doing a good job as President. I keep up on the latest from listening too reading.

  12. I have seen racism all of my life,it actually is a way of life for all people of color. We have struggled with what I call a civil-civil war. I say it that way because,we African American and other races of Americans are able to function together as long,as we stay in our place. I’m sure most sane people can see that every since President Obama was elected the racism card has been played from the highest of high without any remorse. Now is the time to call it what it is BLATANT RACISM,now with that clear understanding, it easier to see a DON’t RENIG bumper sticker. There is no need for rage, when all and i do mean all of the REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES have made at least one reference to what a disgrace blacks are to the human race. The Reipublican leadership have openly shown the utmost disrespect for the president, which began with RUSH LIMBAUGH saying I hope he fails and the elected REPUBLICANS refusing to help him do his and their job, that being working together to help this country recover from extremely difficult times. ONE designated fool decided calling him a liar in front of the entire world was appropriate. President Obama caught the world off guard, he became president quite unexpected and now the race card must be played on a daily base in order to fuel the ever ready racist just waiting for a platform. The tea party is a 21st century version of the new and revised KKK nothing more nothing less. Sarah Palin is perfect for this out pouring of increase racial tension. She is a racist with media attention. This is by design, in 2008 it was thought with her spewing poison and words of separation, trying to plant seeds that president elect was a radical and any other racial undertone, just maybe McCain would slide in as the good guy. I’m concern as to why all of a sudden the JEWISH race, who have through the years openly made known their disdain for racism and oppression, have become extremely silent,as a matter,I’m not hearing any major Jews openly denouncing fellow Jew RUSH LIMBAUGH. it is as if they are pretending to be angry because they cannot dictate to the president as to how to do his job concerning IRAN and ISRAEL. I suggest to them he will do the right thing, however the harm you are doing to a fellow historically oppress people, will cause unnecessary separation between our races. The REPUBLICANS followers hate the jewisw race, history speaks the facts. I will close by saying…fellow AFRICANS AMERICANS if we stood a little more together and supported each other and utilize those who are appreciative of us as a people. We can demand the respect we deserve.I could support a bumper sticker that says ( I’M BLACK AND I’M PROUD) peace

  13. I disagree with this article, I think we have every right to get up in arms about this…check out my blog for my input… http://annebconfirmation.blogspot.com/2012/03/excuse-me-if-im-offended.html

    • I totally agree. I’m tired of being told to just ignore the little things because there are bigger things to worry about. Ignoring the “little” things doesn’t make them stop, it makes them more bold and they’ll do something worse the next time.

There is a saying I can’t remember but the gist of it is that just because someone has a bigger problem than you doesn’t solve your problems or make them go away.

At what exact point are we supposed to start caring about racism? When someone calls us the n-word instead of having it on a bumper sticker? When politicians who want to revive Jim Crow are elected? When someone finally manages to assassinate President Obama? What is the line between mattering and not mattering?

  14. At the end of the day we must recognized that racism still does exist here in the United States of America, we will never completely get rid of it as long as people feel inferior. We need to make the playing field more even; which will probably never happen as well.

So we must be intelligent in our response to all things; whether that means to organize or do things on a smaller scale…we must do something positive.

Ignorance is no excuse no matter who does it. Let’s start by proving them wrong as to who they think we are. N is a action of a person, it refers to the person or mindset of the person who created the sticker, not the President of the United States of America. Did you get that?? PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!! LOL

  15. Keep your friends close. Keep your enimies closer!!! Dr. Boyce, I can’t help but wonder if the things you suggest we should be focusing on and the idea that we should “rise above” the hatred aimed at us, are all just a distraction that the white man has given us so that he can continue to do inflict his damage to the Black race?

  16. That level of hatred or racism should be classified as a mental illness. And we feed into it by reposting this crap. As much as I want to keep the Black race pure, “so to speak” (I’m an old school radical), my children don’t give a hoot who they love and from what I see neither do the children of the hatemongers. It is a new time and a new day. As long as we give this foolishness attention we make it relevent. Now don’t get me wrong, we have to remain cognizant of what is happening in this country and around the world, especially with the injustices that we are facing in our communities and against our sons. Leveling the playing field is a continued battle…so don’t drop your gloves!

  17. Re-neg essentially means “to change”. I don’t know if this sign creator knows it or not, but the connotation that I receive from this sign is(Don’t re-neg in 2012): ” Don’t change the president”;in other words , keep him. Summation ‘Ignorance is bliss’!
    Coach Ike Alexander,
    Ret. sp. educator/pro-percussionist

    • Give me a break! You know exactly what was meant here…and if they wanted to use the word “change” or renege, they could have but decided to use this word instead!! Wake up!

  18. I’m sorry – that’s funny! We’ve got to lighten up sometimes… geez.

  19. They would like to bring all isms back, the creatures. Perhaps they can’t envision a life in which they have to deal with other persons as equals, without terror.

  20. Renelda Moorehead

    Right again, Dr. Boyce!!!
It is encouraging to see black Americans engaged in the political process as never before. I remember when Michelle Obama declared in an emotional campaign speech that this was the first time she was proud to be an American, i.e., when her husband was running for president. Remember?
I found that statement surprising and sad and scripted. But brilliant in that it reached the heart of its targeted audience: the black community.

Whenever Obama’s term of office is ended, I so hope all the new-to-politics voters won’t return to
their past behavior of NON-INVOLVEMENT in AMERICA’S POLITICAL SYSTEM.
We are all Americans. Therefore we should be engaged in what goes on in this country–NO MATTER
WHAT CULTURE THE PRESIDENT CLAIMS TO REPRESENT.

  21. Racism is alive and well in the US. I have an Air Force buddy who is white and is so anti Obama he’s obsessed. He constantly posts anti Obama posts on facebook, I can’t even hold a decent phone or email conversation with him anymore without him bashing President Obama or him making some kind of racist comment about Black people including using the N word even after I’ve told him repeatedly NOT to use the word since I don’t use the racist term. I was going to visit him in Florida but now I don’t think I will. It’s sad that an old military friend I’ve known since 1982 is a raving bigot. He says it’s not because Obama is Black is why he doesn’t like him but then he referred to President Obama as the “Magic Negro” in a facebook post. Racists hide behind the internet now instead of white hood and robes.

  22. Hmmm… the “N” word on a bumper sticker? I’m not saying the driver of this car is an Agent Provocateur, trying to solidify the Black/Progressive White/Jewish vote behind Obama (no… sadly, there are still plenty of good old fashioned bigots around), but just think of how 5000 of these bumper stickers out all across America would rally the troops?

What we have to worry about is not the occasional knuckle-dragging bigot like this, but the white America that says, “What a terrible bumper sticker! I hate it because I’m not Racist!”, while being OK with locking up 1/4 of young black men, with Depression-Era unemployment levels, soaring poverty rates, etc. Yeah… there are still Bull Connors lurking out there, but they’re no longer in charge of the attack dogs and fire hoses. Racism has gone all subtle and genteel, like the guy who told my son that he couldn’t hire him because he might not “fit in.” (What, everyone there all had two heads, or something?)

Unfortunately, we also have to worry about a President who ran for office quoting Dr. MLK,jr, “the urgency of NOW”, was elected to office to kick butt, and ended up saying, “Later, later, later…”. The man I gave my hard earned dollars to and campaigned for turned out not to be a Roosevelt, but another George Bush! Still… what’re ya gonna do? Vote for Romney, or Santorum, or …Gingrich? Ya gotta be kidding.

Yeah, let’s print up 5000 of these bumper stickers, leave ‘em on a table at all the gun shows, and yank the bigots out of the woodwork. Maybe even Faux News would have to cover it? (Naw…)

  23. We will always be called the N-word until we stop using it ourselves. If Kanye West can use it in a song where the world says it (or thinks it at least), we’ll be stuck in a conundrum. You can’t cry slavery while we have the keys to free us.

  24. The battleground is clear: racism and ignorance is alive and strong in this country. The weapons of choice IS to vote in ALL elections like our lives depended on it because to effect change we need people in office who share and respect our interests. Secondly, we have to stop wasting our money on industry and corporations that don’t hire and respect us. Thirdly, we have to promote education, and DEMAND excellence from OUR children when they are in school. I know it is easier said than done, but we have to address these areas for ourselves, and stop worrying about what crazy white people think of us. WE HAVE TO CONTROL WHAT POWER WE HAVE RIGHT NOW. 1. WE CAN CONTROL OUR VOTE. 2. WE CAN CONTROL HOW WE SPEND OUR MONEY. 3.WE CAN CONTROL OUR CHILDREN AND OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM. Obama is NOT the messiah. He is a man that needs our help in the voting booth. We control our own individual bodies on election day. Sound the drums! Prepare for battle.

    • “Thirdly, we have to promote education, and DEMAND excellence from OUR children when they are in school.”

I hope that while you’re demanding excellence, you’re not demanding that the children achieve it in the public miseducation system. You can’t ask them to excel in a system that was created only for the purpose of turning them into better workers for the White man. Demand that we create our own educational institutions and homeschool first.

    • VERY WELL SAID Maurice Fields…SO TRUE NOW if we can get everyone on the same page THAT WOULD BE GREAT because if any of those CLOWN republicans get into office WE’RE all in DEEP DODO. If we could just FOCUS AND STICK TOGETHER WE COULD CHANGE IF FOR THE BETTER.

  25. It will be a great day when this tired, old, generation of racists dies off. The world will be a much better place when that happens.

  26. Actually, Louis Murphy is exactly correct. The bumper sticker is unwittingly advocating the reelection of the president, but the creator of the sticker made a clever play on the word “renege” and said the opposite of what he meant. But I doubt that he is aware of that. Sad that most people would interpret it just the way he meant it!

  27. Well said, Dr. Boyce! Back in the day, Black folks went crazy and burned down their homes and destroyed the stores in their neighborhood when hateful white people did something they didn’t like. Then, they were homeless and had to travel far to buy food. No ignorant person has the power to force anyone to become self-destructive.

I think Black people can learn from the President and the First Lady. If they focused on hateful people, they would never get anything done. Racist people are angry that they have so little power! Black people are strong and smart. We persevere and never give up.

Yet, too many Black people have high blood pressure and other health related illnesses because they let stupid people push their buttons. From now on, I am picking my battles. Before I get angry about anything these hateful people do, I ask myself if it’s worth it to even get annoyed.

    • I liked your comments, Monique. You sound like an island of serenity in this racist sea we call ‘America’. Your advice is good; let’s all take a deep breath when confronted by these idiots.

Concerning the higher incidence of hypertension in African-American descendant from African slaves rather than African-Americans of European ancestry, (since, despite all the racist drivel, all humans are from Africa and essentially genetically similar) there was an interesting article published several years ago in Nature magazine. The authors put forth an alternate explanation for the higher rate of hypertension in today’s slave-descendants, a factor that they thought more significant than racism induced stress and salty diet. The study attempted to filter these factors out, and having done so, still found more hypertension in current descendants of slaves, and significantly, also found more hypertension than found in similar populations in West Africa today. The study’s authors came up with an interesting theory: that this is an example of brutal natural selection at work. They believed that, in the ghastly, desperate, conditions aboard the slave ships, with foul water (and often too little of that), ungodly heat baking the poor folks sweltering below-decks for weeks and sometimes months when becalmed in the doldrums, terrible dysentery and sickness, many succumbed to hypovolemic shock (morbidly low blood pressure). (Man, how hellish…) The approximately 50% of individuals who survived the journey were blessed with innate, naturally higher blood pressure, and so were farther from that fatally low blood pressure and final shock. They survived in higher numbers to reach America and pass those genes on to today’s descendants. In other words, what saved their lives then, causes disproportionate hypertension and related health issues today.

Personally, I can’t see how the study could possibly filter out all the the stress factors and frustrations of present day racism that are known to cause high blood pressure, but their theory could partially explain things.

Forgive me if I come across as a ‘Big Expert’! (Believe me, I’m not!) Just an interesting article I read.
      John

  28. It never ceases to amaze me when I see crap like this that there are still people in this world who actually have no problems displaying their hatred toward minorities. I find it even more funny when I hear about a “black republican” or a “mexican republican” or any other minority “republican”, have you not guessed it yet? They don’t need or want YOU! These people are saying exactly what the GOP wants to say but know that they may need those votes in the end so they will just let the “minority republicans” do their talking! As for this bumper this person is probably the kind of person who would be offended if his son or daughter had a black friend, or even thought of having a relationship with one….ignorance….can’t fight it!

  29. Joyce Marie Wright

I’m neither surprised or shocked by the bumper sticker. However, and it saddens me to say so, there are lots of Black folk who because of their new status in life (education, good job, new home, etc) who would rather live as if these things are not true. Stickers like this serve as a constant and necessary reminder that racist people should never be taken lightly. I don’t advocate riots or anything of the sort (unless pushed to that); what I do advocate is sharing this info, educating self and kind and turning any frustration into positive action (community involvement and voting) Strike back intelligently but NEVER ignore the negative bumper sticker crowd.

  30. Hi, my name is Sam Haye. I recently turned 19 years old on December 1st, 2011. I was born and raised in Staten Island, New York and then moved with my family to Dover, Delaware. I am an independent music artist who loves my country and attached with this message is the link to my official music video, “Good Morning, America.” I know that this is a BIG & TIMELY Song that will help uplift America and all of the dreamers who wish to fulfill the American Dream, with hopes of leading a better life for all generations. I am a firm believer in having the spirit of unity & I sincerely would like to help out in the effort to bridge gaps. I know that when people work together, possibilities are endless. I was raised in a household where my parents taught me to show love to everyone despite their creed, color, sexual orientation, etc., to lend a helping hand, treat others the way you’d want to be treated, & to ALWAYS stand up for what you believe in. Music is often times said to be “the Universal Language”, so I figure, What better way to get the message across! I know that most 19 year olds are not thinking this way, but I realize that my generation and the ones to come are the future of this world, and what WE DO COUNTS! I see a bright future ahead for us, but I know that I cannot do it alone. It will take a collective effort on all ends to get the job done.

  31. You sure it wasn’t Newt Gengrich’s car? It truly is a shame that in 2012 — Two thousand freekin’ twelve!!!— racism still exist in America.

  32. I agree, people Vote!! This crap is never going to end so let’s show em we mean business!

  33. ReasonInTheMadness

This pisses me off. I’m a middle-aged, educated white woman and I subscribe to your newsletter to stay informed of issues in this world we all share. Shocking how shameless (and clueless) some can be. I’m still waiting to have an intelligent debate with these anti-Obama people, but I won’t hold my breath. Again I have to ask, what kind of American *wishes* their president would fail?? I don’t understand that.

  34. I just hope that er’body “GET THERE BUTTS UP OFF THE COUCH AND VOTE” let’s make another difference, it’s up to us.

    VOTE PEOPLE VOTE!

    • @Miz Rose. You fail to realize how deceptive and vile our “white” elitist family members are! You misunderstand their level of resolve. When we gain a foothold on anything they treasure, they simply change the rules, or totally throw away the rule book!
When we finally forced them to ‘allow’ us to vote. They simply started picking and choosing who we could vote for, redirecting voting processes, changing voting districts, downsizing the numbers of those allowed to vote, manipulating computerized voting, etc. and finally if the people they choose to run are still rejected, they can use their ‘Supreme Court’ or worse invoke ‘Martial Law’. You fail to understand the people we have been victimized by generation after generation, and you underestimate the lunacy of their lowly mindless urchins! Vote indeed. What a joke! What a farce! What a country!

      • wizzard g,

where would black people be in this country if it wasn’t for those black people who died for civil and voting rights?

  35. Renege: to go back on a agreement or a promise. Oh! Well whatever happened to “Hope and Change” in 2008. Oh! I am sorry it’s now in 2012 “Moving Forward” to what? World War III, with Iran over Nuclear Plants, and Bombs that everyone else in that part of the World that Kisses America’s rear end already have or is it all about the control of the flow of oil? If our Black People are all so thin skinned to be offended by that non-word, Re-Nig consider the fact that whomever came up with that word didn’t finish school as well. But! I can understand what they were so poorly trying to say. Dr. Boyce Watkins, PhD, shame on you as well for coming down to this level. You might as well be one of those countries in the middle east that also Kisses Obama’s and the U.S. Military’s rear end as well.

    Respectfully,
    Mr. Louis Murphy.

    • Why does it seem that you always try to disrespect the president on this site every chance that you get?

Would it be ok if we rode around with “vote republican the cracker backers” or if if there was a jewish running and the sticker said “get it right but don’t fly a kite” or a asian “don’t get it all wong” or even a women “if you got an itch vote for the ……”. All of these slogans would be considered unacceptable so why is an attack on the president with this crap!

I really hope that many people like youself will go out and get this bumper sticker, because I guarantee you that there will be a hel of alot more insurance claims that will be filed

    • Mr. Louis, you are indeed a piece of work in the making.

    • Louis Murphy misses the whole point. Dr. Watkins is criticising the thin skinned and promoting the idea of black people becoming righteously indignant about real issues that have damaging impacts on their lives and communities.

But it seems apparent that Mr. Murphy is actually more concerned with jumping at this tiny sliver of what he sees as an opportunity to attack President Obama, who he obviously doesn’t appreciate.

I do wish however, that he were knowledgeable enough to name all of these countries in the Middle East he claims are ” kissing Obama’s and and the U.S. Military’s rear end,” evidence of that assertion, and his analysis of how and why it is so. Rather than tossing about the meaningless affirmation of his contempt for both our President and “our Black People.”

    • @Louis Murphy. I’m sorry sir but you aimed your negative abusive remarks in the wrong direction when you directed them at Dr. Watkins.
Your mind is as twisted and misguided as the rest of us. We have all be caught up in a whirlwind of deception, piracy, and racist hate. We have not intentionally kept our enemies close, and they wish they had sent us all to Haiti or somewhere they could really destroy us quickly. If they use the right kind of psychological propaganda and instigation, in time they may actually get us to destroy each other for them! Then they can simply wipe out the “Nig” lingerers who foolishly hang around as their helpers.

    • Did you bother to read Dr. Watkins’ commentary? He spoke of NOT getting bent out of shape because it’s likely a single person developed the bumper sticker. Besides, we all know all whites don’t feel/think that way.

  36. Mustafa Rasul Al-Amin

One day all Afrikan people will recognize the destructive power of this word; and then we will ban together to destroy it and shut the people who promote this vile curse (incantation) down! This is my reason for writing “Niggerology 101 (The Truth About The Word Nigger and Them Niggas!”

    • “White” racists took the Spanish word that means ‘black’ and (as they usually do)made it into a vile disgusting word to label their reference of us as “black” people. They are notorious for naming everything and everyone according to their emotions and desires. We rarely get the opportunity to name anyone or anything and we are rarely as vile and vicious as the Anglo-dominant male.
We as so-called “blacks” are ‘being played’ in so many ways! The psych-ops used against us works almost flawlessly. The Anglo-elite have been using these tactics for so long that they are confident in manipulating our minds effortlessly as they should be. We are living in their world and playing their rigged-up game, and it seems we are still the biggest fools on the planet! Be assured that Mr. Obama is ‘their man’ and we are still considered their slaves as many of us can’t help but act like we are! Don’t be surprised when they turn violent on us in ways we only see them do in other countries right now, but they did this to our ancestors and we cannot seem to grasp the significant level of madness we are engulfed in!

  37. What else to they have on him? Whatever is said it always comes back to the fact Obama is a black man and the GOP long ago got into bed with racists. Still I can’t help but wonder if Obama was Jewish?

  38. Dr. Boyce

It should not shock or surprise us the amount of contempt and hatred that surfaces. I can only say, it will be a very ugly election come November. I fear we have only begun to skim the surface of what we as minorities will see as November approaches. We all should never be surprised, shocked, or alarmed at hate that continuely exists in this country. It is a long and hard fight that we are up against. President Obama’s election and possible re-election has reaffirmed the racism that exists. His election is awareness of what people are capable of becoming and doing when they view other humans as animals.

    Antoinette

    • The only thing I’m surprised about, is that you’re surprised. Hold on to your hats, because the only thing these people have in common, is their singular hatred for President Obama, and their frustration over having no one who can beat him. President Obama’s camp should throw a spotlight on each personal slight on him and his family, so the voting public can see for themselves, that it was never about his policies.
