What's Happening In Your World
. If you’re like millions of other people around the world, you’ve been hearing for years that the social media giant, Facebook is going to charge account holders for its services. Well, despite the number of media outlets that have confirmed that to be a rumor, there may be a little truth to it. Facebook is currently testing a new option to charge users in the United States a one-time fee of $1 to send a private message to someone’s inbox who is not their friend. Once the fee is paid, the user will be able to send as many messages to that person’s inbox as they please. Instead of the messages landing in the “other” section of the inbox, it will appear in the receiving user’s primary inbox folder. The company provided more information about the new feature via a blog post: Today we’re starting a small experiment to test the usefulness of economic signals to determine relevance. This test will give a small number of people the option to pay to have a message routed to the Inbox rather than the Other folder of a recipient that they are not connected with. We’ll continue to iterate and evolve Facebook Messages over the coming months. Since it was rumored that investors of the social media giant are concerned that most of its revenue is via advertisement, the new feature appears to be an attempt at testing out a potential new revenue source. They recently just promoted a new feature for average Facebook account holders to promote a post (to get more viewership) for $7.   If Facebook decides to make you pay for all of its services, will you pay?
