A Federal Agent lost his life at the hands of dope smugglers in the early hours of Monday morning. The law enforcement officer was killed when a boat carrying marijuana crashed into a Coast Guard boat that was trying to intercept the illegal activity, on the coast of California. According to ABC News, four suspects were caught and are in custody while two others escaped and found refuge in a coastal island. The crash that killed the Federal Agent happened near San Clemente Island, in Santa Barbara County, at around 1 a.m. when the Coast Guard apprehended suspects off of two boats;  a pleasure craft and a panga boat. It is believed that the two suspects who are still being sought were dropped off on Santa Cruz Island before the collsion of the boats. The Santa Barbara Sheriffs SWAT and the U.S. Border Patrol have joined forces to hunt for the two suspects on Santa Cruz Island. The two boats that were illegally carrying drugs are reported to be on their way to the Coast Guard Base in the Port of Los Angeles. Reports say that the Coast Guard Investigative Services are doing everything they can to catch the two men that are believed to have escaped, even requesting help from the Los Angeles Police Department Scientific Investigation Division forensics unit and photo unit. It has been confirmed that the men who were operating the panga were Mexican nationals and the drugs they were carrying were marijuana.
