Hillary Clinton Home from the Hospital, But Is She Healthy Enough to Run for President?

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was recently discharged from a hospital in New York after being admitted for a serious blood clot.  The clot was in a vein between her skull and brain, according to the State Department.

“Her medical team advised her that she is making good progress on all fronts, and they are confident she will make a full recovery,” Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines said in a statement announcing her release.

The clot came from a concussion Clinton received during December.  Doctors expect her to make a full recovery.

Critics were skeptical about the legitimacy of Clinton’s health condition, since the fainting incident which led to the concussion occurred right when she was set to testify about what happened at the US Consulate in Benghazi.  Republicans believe that the State Department had something to hide, and some are even wondering if it is a coincidence that doctors are now expecting her to make a full and complete recovery.

Clinton is now 65 years old, and hasn’t been seen in public since she caught a case of the stomach flu a few weeks ago.  Her representatives claim that Clinton has been completely forthcoming about her condition, but she took a day to explain the exact location of the blood clot or why she ordered the MRI.

State Department Spokeswoman Victor Nuland said that they will continue to keep the public informed.

“We will continue to keep you updated as we have new information to share, as we’ve been doing all along,” Nuland said. “I think that was eighth statement in some three weeks so please bear with us.”

Nuland was evasive when explaining whether or not Clinton’s health condition would affect her willingness to testify before Congress about the US Consulate attack in Benghazi.

“She has said that she is open to going up to the Hill. We are working with them now on their schedule because there’s also a question of when they are going to be in and we will let you know when we have something to share,” Nuland said.

Another question being asked is whether or not health concerns might keep Clinton from being fit to run for president in 2016.  She hasn’t had much to say about that one.
