Man Gets Locked Up For Stealing $1.29 Honey Bun and Fleeing on Bicycle

Everyone knows times are hard, but committing a crime and going to jail is never worth it. This is especially true if what you’re stealingBrandon-Phillips honey bun isn’t sustenance, but a sugary treat with absolutely no nutritional value. An 18 year old learned this the hard way when he was arrested for stuffing a $1.29 iced honey bun down his pants and trying make a quick getaway.

Local affiliate WKMG reports:

Brandon Phillips was arrested on misdemeanor charges of retail petit theft, resisting arrest without violence and resisting in the recovery of merchandise.

According to Palm Bay police, Phillips stuffed the Honey Bun into his sweatpants while he was inside the 7-Eleven at 6405 Minton Road on Dec. 28.

A store manager told police that he witnessed the theft and confronted Phillips, who fled on a bicycle.

The Palm Beach police who responded to the scene were serious about the recovery of the honey bun, going so far as to use K-9 dogs to hunt for Phillips, who they found in a wooded lot not far from the 7-11.

Although Phillips bike was also found near the scene, the honey bun was nowhere to be found. We can only presume that Phillips had eaten the tasty treat before police arrived at the scene.

  1. Call the cops and they use a K-9 dog to sniff out a $1.29 stolen honey bun from a hungry Black man, are you kidding me? I would have paid the clerk for the stolen food rather than see the brother get bite and then taken to jail, smdh!

  3. LOL…damn.

  4. LOL…damn.

  5. In “Les Miserables” a man goes to jail for stealing a loaf of bread. That was a story; this is real. How disgusting.

  6. Are you serious? An iced honey bun. I do not condone theft, but obviously he was hungry and broke to steal something that cheap and then flee on a bicycle. This young man needs food stamps until he can find a job, community service for his punishment, and to be banned from the store that he stole from.

  7. Wow really a mfn honeybun mann if dey dont leave dat poor boy alone he was hungry damnnl I'm Not condoneng Stealn either but Don't the Police got bigger crimes to solve wit the k9dogs shisssshhhhh wtf

I wonder how much all this is costing the taxpayers.

  9. Was it worth k-9 dogs and a chase??? Really??? And if he didn’t have the honey bun on him when they caught him, where is the case? Is he on camera?or is it just the clerk’s word?

    damn

  11. This is why I just go ahead and give my spare change and dollars to those who ask, so I don't have to see shit like this. TOO MANY selfish people will just walk on by and tell a man to get a job. At 18, logic and hunger can combine to make a poor hungry man "hunt" for food. It wasn't dumb of him to feed himself if hungry. He didn't steal alcohol, which is far more valuable. A hungry man in a bad economy steals a honey bun worth less than 50 cents wholesale. So you confront him (which is putting yourself in unnecessary danger) and call the police whom sic a vicious trained dog on him? It's a waste of tax payer dollars! HOW ABOUT WE ARREST THE CRIMINALS WHOM STOLE/LOST TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORLD-WIDE……..AND CAUSED THIS RECESSION? Then people wouldn't have to starve as often.

  12. Maybe he was really hungry! I don't think he's dumb. I think that the person who called the cops is a petty person. $1.29? Really? 7-11 throw away more coffee than that. The problem the world we live in. See a man in jail over a snack cake. There are real killers out here and they us k9 cops for a damn honey bun but the economy is messed up. We need to learn to stand together as people.

    • It's not the price of the snack it's the crime and the logic behind it. If he did it and gets away with it he will probably do it again… if other ppl see him do it and see no consequences then they will be more prone to do it… ect ect. That's the reason.

  13. SILLY! WHY RISK YOUR LIFE FOR A "HONEY BUN?" PEACE.

  14. Unless he was hungry or has special needs, I don't condone shoplifting. On the other hand, why in the hell would a store clerk call the police about such a petty theft. Damn, if the guy ever came in the store again, I would just tell him to leave or I would call the police. Really?

  15. lol dumbass.
